A spokesperson for Island/Def-Jam recently announced that Mimi is going to be releasing a second Christmas album - scheduled for a November release date.
It's meant to feature six new songs, Christmas classics and a new mix of 'All I Want for Christmas is You'.
I'm very positive about this release. The inclusion of more traditional songs means that she won't be whispering or talk-singing, she'll be really showcasing her voice. I just hope that the new tracks are more pop-friendly rather than too urban.
I think she's been talking about a new Christmas album for a few years, so I've got my fingers crossed she's been working on the songs to rival her first christmas disc (which is such a mood-lifting album!). There are even rumours that she'll duet with her mother on the new one.
Can't wait!
The album, which is scheduled for an early November release, will also feature six new songs and a new mix of her hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You".

I like most of what Mariah does but Christmas albums rarely do that well in terms of sales.

I like most of what Mariah does but Christmas albums rarely do that well in terms of sales. Josh Groban's Noel was an enormous seller in the US (best selling album of 2007) and Mariah's 'Merry Christmas' is one of the best selling Xmas discs of all time. Obviously sales are limited to due to people only really buying it for two months every year. However, if she creates another huge Christmas hit, it'll sell in truckloads.

The trouble she has is that people have lost so much interest in her.

Myabe Christmas albums sell well in the US but I can't think of any big UK sellers unless I've forgotten them all?

Fabulous! Merry Christmas is her best album ever so this should be another classic provided she doesn't turn it into another midtempo plodding rehash of Shitter / Chamberpot / Emasculation Of Peepee that she whimpers and shrieks through

I hope this is good. Could actually be a top 10 album in it's first week of release or Xmas week.

I adore her first Christmas album I think its amazing and a have listened to it every year since it's release and i don't like them as a rule but this one is amazing and I agree with toy toy boy's comment about the vocals it will be nice to hear her voice without all the whispering and soft pointless vocals, I kno her voice is nothing compaired to what it was but would be nice to hear.

Can I just add that on tuesday night at 10pm, on VH1 there is a Top 20 countdown of Mariah's biggest hits, not sure if it has sales or not? I cant tape it as I'm taping Fringe and The Mentalist at that time, so thought others might be interested

Maybe if she released more singles often then people would still have a interest in her but i already like the christmas song by her called "All I Want For Christmas Is You"

I've not liked anything of hers for years - but I quite like that Santa song.
Maybe she has a body exactly like that ,I don't know - but that album cover looks like her face photoshopped onto someone elses body, under someone elses hair. The neck looks too long.It just looks 'off'.
