I think they should just leave his legacy as it is. Why mess with something that's already so brilliant? Obvious answer would be money.

Why not release NEW tracks though? He'd planned these for release before he died.

They were unfinished when he died. They've been finished after his death my producers. There's no way of knowing that he would approve of how they sound now. And anyway, I wasn't happy with him releasing music anyway. I think a legacy can be undone. Mariah Carey has been undoing all her hard work over the last 2 albums she's released. She should retire, as should have Michael, perhaps he'd still be alive if he had.

Well I understand you points but a "new" album is better than another GH release surely?

breakingnews.michaeljackson.com/UK/I really like the song, but am I the only one who thinks the rumours about the track being completed with a sound-a-like may be true? I know Michael used a lot of his lower register in HIStory and Invincible, but in the first verse, it doesn't sound like him at all.

Breaking News has leaked, and youtube seem to be busy removing them as people upload them. Here's one still available.

I don't think the voice is MJ's. I think Sony should be sue for this, it is a disgrace. I can't understand why they are doing this, I am sure they have dozens of MJ unreleased songs!

Well I understand you points but a "new" album is better than another GH release surely? But nothing is a better option than both. I agree with Crazytowel. Just compare The Beatles with The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin with Queen. The Beatles knew the game was up in 1969 after shelving the ropey album that became the posthumously released Let It Be album; so they decided for one last time to go into the studio and record a fitting finale to their career with the classic Abbey Road album. Just look at the increasingly erratic solo careers of the solo Beatles in the following decade and it is clear their reputation would have been adversely affected if they continued well into the 1970s to compete with the likes of ELO; The Eagles and Supertramp. Compare that to The Rolling Stones who should have called it a day after their 1972 album Exile On Main Street; whom released their last worthwhile album in 1978 (Some Girls), yet are still going today. Led Zeppelin's legacy is maintained because they did not go on to spoil their legacy after the death of drummer John Bonham; in sharp contrast to Queen continuing after the death of singer Freddie Mercury to go on and record with 5ive; Wyclef Jean and Paul Rodgers.

Excellent post. Queen certainly should have called it a day and not had any more "lead" singers.

New York, NY – The first official single from the forthcoming Michael Jackson album MICHAEL will be released in the UK on Sunday, November 28th. The song entitled “Hold My Hand” will be unveiled on www.michaeljackson.com and thereafter all media on Monday, 15th November. “Hold My Hand”, a duet with Akon, is a song they recorded in 2007. A handwritten note from Michael belonging to his Estate indicated his desire that “Hold My Hand” be the first single on his next project. However, in its unfinished state, the song leaked out in 2008. Akon recently completed the new and final production of “Hold My Hand.” Akon comments, “The world was not ready to hear ‘Hold My Hand’ when it leaked a couple years ago. We were devastated about it. But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I’m so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols.” On December 13th, Epic Records in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release the much-anticipated new album MICHAEL. The album contains ten tracks, produced by an esteemed group of producers along with Michael Jackson. While primarily focused on songs that Michael worked on recently, there are also earlier compelling tracks. MICHAEL is the first release in nine years of new material by one of music’s most beloved icons whose artistry continues to touch new generations of fans. The album marks another release under the new agreement between the Estate of Michael Jackson and Sony Music announced in March that continues the label’s 35-year relationship with Michael and his music. During that time, Michael sold hundreds of millions of records, had 13 US #1 singles and released the pop culture phenomenon “Thriller,” which remains music’s all-time bestselling album with more than 100 million copies sold worldwide. MICHAEL ALBUM TRACKLISTING: 1. Hold My Hand (Duet with Akon) 2. Hollywood Tonight 3. Keep Your Head Up 4. (I Like) The Way You Love Me 5. Monster (Featuring 50 Cent) 6. Best Of Joy 7. Breaking News 8. (I Can’t Make It) Another Day (Featuring Lenny Kravitz) 9. Behind The Mask 10. Much Too Soon

The original leaked demo of 'Hold My Hand', in case people haven't heard it before. Amazing song, IMO.
