Pakistan vs SL should be a good contest today. Pakistan are so unpredictable but tend to improve as tournaments go on.

India and England end in a tie... 338 each, but india were bowled out in 49.5 overs, England only lost 8 wickets in the 50 overs!

Interesting note: India lost their final wicket on the penultimate ball of their innings, when there was a run out as the batsmen were coming back for two. However, the first run didn't count as they'd run short. If they'd just taken the single, rather than going for an impossible two they would've had 339 and would've had another ball to face...

I watched most of this match today. An incredible game. At one point India could have set well in excess of 350; but set England a near impossible target to match.
Yet with Strauss & Bell going so strongly victory was there for the taking before the usual mid order collapse, before England clawed back a draw which looked highly unlikely with 5 overs remaining.

Group A: Sri Lanka (146/1) beat Kenya (142) by 9 wickets (188 balls remaining)
Collins Obuya scored the slowest century in World Cup history (95 balls), only to see his brother David Obuya beat the record (104 balls). They were the only two Kenyans to reach double figures (bar extras).
Lasith Malinga scored a hat-trick (and conceded 5 wides off the next ball!), and finished with 6/38 (none of his wickets requiring assistance from a fielder).

I don't see how two players can score a century when the whole team only make 142.

Anyone else think this was the snooker player Steve Davies? No...? Fair play to him, though. It's a shame more sportsmen/women feel they have to hide something that really shouldn't matter.

I have no idea if this is the lowest (all-out) team total to include 2 half-centuries.

Best comment I've seen so far is from Graeme Swann. "Good on everyone for showing support for Steve Davies. For those few opposed? Maybe find a new rock to live under?" With luck, this will make life a lot easier for Davies. If he has a partner he needn't be afraid of being seen in public with him and his partner can join him on tour in the same way as any other player's partner. He won't have to pretend to be unattached or persuade a woman friend to pretend to be his partner.

World Cup Group B, Bangalore: Ireland 329-7 (49.1 overs) bt England 327-8 (50 overs) by three wickets
Ireland were 111-5 in the 27th over, when Kevin O'Brien went on to strike the fastest century in World Cup history (50 balls); and Ireland achieved the highest successful run chase in World Cup history.
An unhappy 34th birthday to England captain Andrew Strauss then.

What a shocker. Looking forward to seeing the highlights of this on tv later tonight.
Congratulations to Ireland.
I don't normally pay much attention to limited overs cricket, but after this match and the Indian game, maybe I should revise my opinions.

I just don't understand why England don't seem to have what it takes for one-day cricket.

England's bowling, fielding and middle order batting has been sh*te in this tournament.
From the position they were in, England should've had at least 350 on the board.
Ireland back in it now following their loss to Bangladesh though they still need more wins. England will probably have to win two of their last three games to qualify.

I believe this is the second time that Ed Joyce has been on the winning side in an England v Ireland world cup match. It would have been interesting if Eoin Morgan had been fit to play for England today!
Quirky fact: Both of Ireland's group-stage victories in the World Cup have come a few days after a tied match in the same group.
