Nearly half of GB's Gold Medals in Beijing came from the cyclists.
At the World Championships just finished GB only won 1 Gold Medal and the Australians 8.
The Australians have already vowed "to rub GB's nose in it" at the London Olympics.
Doesn't look good - Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton were well below par.

Well Victoria Pendleton admitted she didn't have the same motivation as Beijing to win another Olympic Gold, even if it was in London.
It doesn't bode well but remember that they have a lot of high expectations and pressure.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/cycling/9438169.stmIt's all about peaking for the Olympics Games (the same as top Tennis players do for the Majors; Rugby Union teams do for their world cups, etc), I'd much rather Team GB do what they've done now (with Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton not at full race fitness; and the likes of Bradley Wiggins & Geraint Thomas are focussing on Road cycling in 2011, before refocussing on the track in 2012) , and peak in 15 months time than the other way around.

It wasn't a great championships for GB but the sole focus is on 2012. There's even talk that some of GB's top cyclists will miss next year's Worlds as they're only a few months before the Olympics.
It's also worth pointing out that most of the Aussie golds were in events that won't be included in the Olympics.
As raliverpool said, it's all about peaking at the right time. Hoy and Pendleton will be at their best in London. There are others to come back into the squad who have been focusing on other things plus a few others like Ed Clancy and Lizzie Armitstead missed the Worlds through injury.
The Aussies had a great championships but it's hard to see them topping that.
