Which of these songs in the year 1982 in your view should not have been #1, I am doing polls for the whole Eighties this time, once we have 10+ winners (we have to split up some years there is not enough options on a poll to match the #1's in a year plus joint winners) we will have a last poll to decide which song out of the years 1980-1989 should not have been #1.
These are 3 day polls this time.
Happy Voting

Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder are both legends. Yet somehow I fear they will be contenders for this year and both contenders for 1984 too...
I am not voting for them here though.
In reality between Goombay Dance Band and Renée & Renato, and decided to vote for the former.

Now this was a tough one; four truly terrible songs; a duet by two legends which became the 80s equivalent of that Girls Aloud / Sugababes collaboration; and Pete Waterman's pre SAW effort taking a bunch of kids and changing the title lyrics of a pro drugs song. Of the four truly terrible songs I voted for a track featuring Pete Waterman's ex (the brunette). Mind you I loved the follow up, it is a guilty pleasure of mine. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cz5QDxTBYsc

I also loved Fantasy Island much better than TLST and also liked "Now Those Days Are Gone" far better than either of the 2 Bucks Fizz songs that did top the chart that year.
By the way, they even played Pass The Kutchie or however it was spelt on some pirate radio station I tuned into once at that time. I didn't know Pete Waterman had anything to do with them. I thought "Never Gonna Give You Up" (no relation to the Rick Astley song) was much better.

Who the hell voted for Madness? One of the best number ones of the year, possibly the greatest band of the early 80s getting their only #1, well deserved. Did your finger slip when you were voting for Nicole?
