Which of these songs in the year 1983 in your view should not have been #1, I am doing polls for the whole Eighties this time, once we have 10 winners (we have to split up some years there is not enough options on a poll to match the #1's in a year plus joint winners) we will have a last poll to decide which song out of the years 1980-1989 should not have been #1.
These are 3 day polls this time.
Happy Voting

I expect it will go to either New Edition or Flying Pickets. Both are bad but I didn't vote for either of those.

There are some things in music you are stupid to try to do; attempting to replace Alf's brilliant deeply emotive vocals is one of these things .........

The artist for whom I voted had 3 NM #1s. Not with this particular song though...

Whilst I did half expect New Edition and the Flying Pickets to get the most votes, I am kind of surprised Duran Duran got so many, albeit that I voted for that one myself.
Wherever I Lay My Hat was written by Marvin Gaye, was originally far more uptempo, and was the B-side to "Too Busy Thinking 'Bout My Baby". I prefer the Marvin Gaye version having heard it too. It was not the first ever hit for Paul Young, as he was the lead singer of Streetband on their fantastic 1978 hit "Toast".

So New Edition "Candy Girl" goes through to the decade final.

^^ agreed , but I still quite like that one anyway. I'd rather it had been sung by someone else.
