I have purchased 56 new studio albums this year, and I rank it in 55th place.
Not a patch on her debut, as she has sacrificed the charm of 19; to go all out and make a lowest common denominator album squarely in Simply Red, Phil Collins, Celine Dion territory.

I think it's a phenomenal album, a lot more cohesive than her debut. Totally deserves to be the best selling album of the year.

I think it's an amazing album, good songs, better lyrics, which are very honest and come from the guts, so I think that's why people are connecting with her songs cos they're real
and it's a million times better than her debut (which was pretty good), so Adele shows that she's evolving and improving both as singer and as songwriter...
still 21 it's not the best album in the universe, has a bunch of fillers and a very very bad cover (Lovesong)... but it's miles better than all of those cazillion sellers like Spirit or Back to Bedlam

It's a really fantastic album, you've just got to ignore the music snobs who seem to dislike anything and everything which is popular because it makes them feel better about themselves to constantly swim against the current. Still haven't picked up a copy yet though, I've been hoping to find a version with all 3 of the bonus tracks, but I don't think it exists

Intrigued to know which one you ranked worse than it? I still haven't bought it, doubtful I would as not my cup of tea.

You are definitely not alone. The world is full of music snobs Why is it musical snobbery? And I'd hardly say it applies for Adele anyway, it's not like the album hasn't received (generally) universal critical praise. I don't like being called a music snob, purely because I'm not. I think I can notice a decent song when I hear one, and at least see why people buy music even if I personally think it's terrible. With Adele I think Rolling In The Deep is a cracking tune, fully deserving of being one of the highest sellers of the year, I can also see why she's so popular even if it's not my cup of tea, but I also think that Someone Like You is one of the worst songs I've heard all year. It's just so horribly boring and cliched, and her wailing voice goes right through me. I like that review because it's A) funny and B) shows what a wonderful thing music is. One of the things Someone Like You has been praised so much for is how amazing the emotive and heartfelt lyrics are. That review just shows how incredible music is, and that it can be interpreted in so many ways. I don't really know what's worse. The concept of 'musical snobbery' in the first place, or people who like mainstream music dismissing any criticism of popular songs is 'musical snobbery'.
