Despite Coldplay releasing what in my opinion are their worst 2 singles ever... I do think they're gonna be massive... but how massive?
and what about the Rihanna collab? I think this is gonna cost them some hardcore-early-days fans but gain them far far more... For me now they're in the J.Lo superpop category as opposed to being rock or alternative...
how much do you reckon they're gonna sell? I'd say around 300K... 200K minimum... they should definitively do higher than Gaga...

I hope it'll be closer to the 300k mark than the 200k.

Whatever they sell it will be higher than what they deserve with this album

Have listened to the album four times this week and have to say it's surprisingly poor - easily their worst album yet. Highlights are Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven. There are three tracks that are less than 1 minute long that bring absolutely nothing to the album and as a VFM purchase I wouldn't buy this whole album - just download the tracks you like. Still think it will top 300k sales in the run up to Christmas as they are such a big name!

Have Listened To The Album And It's Absolutely Medicroe,Maybe Under Medicore And Worthless.I Wonder How Chris Martin Said We Choose Each Track With Obsession And We Choose These Tracks From 50 Tracks We Recorded And This Album Is By Far Our Best Effort And We Maybe Split Up Cuz We Have No Idea After This Album With Such A Brilliant Tracks How To Record Another Album With This Quality!!So You Can Guess How Much Poor Those Tracks When The Original 14 Tracks Are Rubbish.

It easily replaces X&Y as their worst album to date, and I think the large number of poor to mediocre reviews will have a negative impact on its first week sales.

250k ...
use to love this band... but now I think they are overrated. They should stick to their roots (ala parachutes).
Lost interest after X&Y

Do people really bother with reviews? I would have thought whether people like the first 2 single releases would have more influence over the decision whether to buy the album or not

I would have thought whether people like the first 2 single releases would have more influence over the decision whether to buy the album or not I would say a lot of older people who don't listen to Radio 1 or chart music (and don't have time to listen to album streamings), go and rely on reviews to influence their decision whether or not to buy a product irrespective of whether it is a fridge freezer, car insurance, a digital camera, to see a new film out or buy an album.

I have completely given up on them, their song "Paradise" is just so bad, I just want to put the first 3 albums on and pretend that their current conversion never happened.

I believe Viva La Vida... is a much better album than x&y for example... It had it's moments... Life In Technicolor, 42, Viva La Vida, Lost... they're all excellent tunes and amongst their best... it was a tougher nut to crack than x&y... x&y had the hardest part, talk & white shadows... the rest is very average... maybe with mylo xyloto they took the VLV&DOAOHF formula too far... Paradise is surely not their worst song ever... Fix You is far worse... but Chris Martin should sing proper lyrics and less "ohhhs" and "nananas"... Even though they're sung almost effortlessly on Paradise... And it's hard not to sing along to... I still expect better from Coldplay!!!

I say 183K. I'm not a fan of Coldplay although I own their two first albums, but for what I read here and talking to some friends who loved them, nobody is really excited about this new album.
