The King Blues have announced today (April 3) that they have split up.
The London six-piece, who formed in 2004, announced on their official website Kingblues.com this afternoon that they had parted ways, saying in a statement that they had "taken things as far as they can go" and that they were not prepared "to go through the motions like so many other artists do".
The band released three studio albums during their career and will release a final album, titled 'Long Live The Struggle', in July to mark the end of their career.
The statement reads as follows: "It is with great sadness and very heavy hearts that we must inform you, that as of today The King Blues are no more. We are all immensely proud of our body of work. We will be releasing the last The King Blues album entitled 'Long Live The Struggle' as the final chapter. The album will be released in early July 2012."
It continues: "We simply feel we have taken things as far as they can go and it would be unfair on you if we were to go through the motions like so many other artists do. We all believe strongly in what The King Blues stands for."
The King Blues last album 'Punk & Poetry' was released in 2011.

Not sure if "My Boulder" is really their greatest song ,reminds me a bit too much of Carter USM. It is sad we are in an era where bands like them no longer have a significant presence not only in the chart but even at rock festivals.

no it wasnt, it was their most commercial and had a great video their best chance at a hit. Their greatest song imo is 'Set The World On Fire' or the unlikely ballad 'I Got Love' and I actually think Carter is a reasonable comparison, I think The Clash meets Carter USM sums them up

They had some really good tunes and I am now wishing I had caught them when they were last on tour as I only caught the very end of the set at Glasto last year. I was a bit surprised by this actually given the fact they are now as big as they have ever been, but I guess musical differences is probably the main factor.

I think thats the problem they are not big enough and probably never will be so they are calling it quits they wanted to be as big as The Clash but they are relatively unknown by the public and not taken seriously by a lot of the music press but I can see the singer going solo and pushing the politics even more, a rockier Plan B maybe

Apparently he is going solo. Thats why I think it is a case of musical differences as they are a much different band to what they were.

From reading about them the lead singer was one of the world's biggest bellends. They were ok, no loss.
