Altered Images - album 1 is goth, 2 is indiepop, 3 is sophistipop. Three different sounds, yet all better than anyone else has ever come up with ever.
OMD. Their early output is astonishing. Even the yuppified Junk Culture onwards are worth a listen and they get a bit more arch on The Pacific Age.

Show Me Magic", "Something 4 the Weekend", "Northern Lites", "Fire in My Heart", "Juxtapozed with U", "(Drawing) Rings Around the World", "Golden Retriever", "Run-Away" and "Inaugural Trams" that should give a you a good idea of their career
