I've been a massive Madonna fan since way back when and I can't believe how quickly her career has spiralled. I can't figure out if it is to do with downloads or people have lost interest. Girl Gone Wild only debuting at 73 and unlikely to go any further.
I used to buy all the CD's that she did with all the remixes and I ain't interested in getting all the remixes on digital copies, also I just haven't been as interested in MDNA as she don't seem like she can really be bothered to promote it, all she wants to do is go on tour.
I also think Radio 1 has had a major effect by being ageist and pathetic by not playing her new songs or anyone else they deem to be too old or uncool. Madonna really needs to kick their asses.
I also think her record company has handled her new releases so badly.
Can Madonna ever recover and get songs back in the charts again or has she had her day?

Pretty sure the same thing happens to all artists once they surpass a certain age. Madonna just had a lot further to fall than most.

Plus also she has been away for 4 years and has done no promo upon here return. The release dates for the singles have been delayed compared to the US & Europe and so fans have already bought/downloaded the tracks long before they were released here. I am sad about it but she has had a phenomenal career and nothing lasts forever. Plus the tour is still a huge success and i cannot wait for Hyde Park to see what it will be like

She has had the habit of re inventing herself, she has been on top before many times, she will do it again.
For me the diverse range of music she has done, I'd say she has become a fixture in the music industry, will leave a big hole if she weren't doing music.

Nah she cant reinvent herself any more, this is the end really. Maybe the lack of promo over here didn't really help, and to be fair the songs were pretty poor, and you cant blame radio 1, because they dont play certain songs and they are still big hits regardless. Retire and enjoy the royalties from her hugely successful back catalogue, that or produce acts instead.

First of all she has 2 albums left on her deal with Live Nation and secondly she is making a fortune with the tour. The Rolling Stones amongst others have proved it is possible to make good money touring despite having no sizeable recent hits

The pop music landscape is different to the rock one that The Rolling Stones are part of, though - I can't honestly see that many people would be willing to pay out to see Madonna in 10 years time if she released nothing in that time, as they do for the likes of Aerosmith, Faith No More, RATM etc. now. That's just my opinion however.
More on the subject, I think the delayed release and lack of support for GMAYL really killed the era before it began. Which is a shame, because the song is nowhere near as terrible as it's made out to be, and radio incessantly plays things that are a lot worse.

Lack of radio play from Capital etc has really hurt her as the music needs people to hear/ see it to buy it

Touring does seem the way to go, I dont get why people are willing to pay a fortune to see an act past their best.

Her best bet would be to 'partner' with some of the current hit makers around at the moment like RedOne, David Guetta, Calvin Harris or Flo Rida. On her own I don't think she has the spark to interest commercial radio anymore and is probably seen as 'uncool'

I think radios are not playing her cos her new songs are terrible, not cos she's uncool. But I agree that the only was she's gonna be big again is she does a Guetta or Calvin Harris single. This way she'd sure have a hit again, but at the say time, it would be kinda sad, cos a woman that used to create trends would only succeed now by following the trend. She already did that with Hard Candy & Timbaland, 5 years too late...

Like virtually every pop & rock act before her she has become irrelevant to the 13-25 year olds who buy singles = she has crossed over to become a veteran act.
Personally, she never made a bad album until Hard Candy over 20 years into her chart career, but unfortunately after a 4 year break MDNA is nearly as bad, not least as it seems equally as uninspired and more embarrassingly mutton dressed as lamb, which for me was a huge surprise as I honestly expected Madonna to raise her game after her time away from the music scene and the lack of creativity and vocal and lyrical effort within the tracks was a huge disappointment to me.
Back in 1987 she selected up and coming cutting edge rap act The Beastie Boys as her support act for her World Tour; now she hires LMFAO. If she was clued up now as she was back in her heyday then she would have not rejected the opportunity to work with Robyn, Grimes & Santigold on MDNA to instead work with LMFAO, Nicki Minaj & Mika.

On her own I don't think she has the spark to interest commercial radio anymore and is probably seen as 'uncool' She did work with David Guetta and released Revolver which reached number 130 although she did no promo for it whatsoever. I hope her manager or whoever has told her her appalling chart stats in the UK, GMAYL did quite well in Europe and was number 1 in a few countries, she really needs to do some promo with 'Turn Up The Radio' as its such a good summery song but I won't hold my breath.
