The BBC have announced some changes to their weekend schedule - including the departure of Reggie Yates and the announcement that Jameela Jamil will be the first female to present the chart show on their own! QUOTE Jameela Jamil will move from Radio 1’s Request show to present the iconic Radio 1’s Official Chart becoming the first solo female presenter of the Chart Show since it began back in the 1960s as Pick Of The Pops. Jameela who joined Radio 1 earlier this year, will count down the week’s Top 40 songs every Sunday including presenting the last hour in vision on bbc.co.uk/radio1, screening the Top 10 videos in full. Jameela said: “I am absolutely delighted and honoured. I'm fully aware that I have big shoes to fill and am so excited to get started... I've grown up listening to the official chart so I cannot thank Radio 1 enough for the amazing opportunity.” www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnew...d-schedule.htmlby

She surely can't be any worse that Reggie Yates.

She surely can't be any worse that Reggie Yates. I wouldn't say she is but considering what the majority of this forum want in a chart presenter I do think the Reggie era will become more fondly remembered after Jameela takes over.

Last listened to the chart show since I was 17, around about the time they changed the format and did not concentrate solely on the chart. Much preferred the approach of just playing the 40 songs in full and that was that.

Actually i can see that happening. Wes Butters got a lot of criticism, but i'm rather have him back than either Reg or this girl. As for JK & Joel for all their faults (or it was more to do with the production) at least they were actual radio presenters and not came up from youth tv like the majority of R1 djs these days come from.

I think someone needs to merge the two threads on this subject.

She's not much better, but Reggie was an absolute low for the chart show - you need to at least pretend that you are interested in the charts...
