my mp3 player came up with boston's 'more than a feeling' this morning which made me wonder how many other songs 'fade in'... obviously quite a lot 'fade out', but as for fading in, i could only think of these three:
boston - 'more than a feeling' radiohead - 'black star' the smiths - 'some girls are bigger than others' (fades in, then back out, then back in)
anyone think of any others?

Feeder- "Swim" (this fades in while "Shade" is fading out on "Swim").
Biffy should do this at least once, it works quite nicely and effectively if pulled off right.

Roxy Music's "Virginia Plain" famously has a quiet intro, which encouraged radio DJs to turn up the volume. It then kicks in properly, and never looks back. A classic track and with brilliant production.

Stone roses - I am the resurrection and I wanna be adored I Am The Resurrection doesn't fade in! Ten Story Love Song does though. Would you count Don't Stand So Close To Me by The Police? Not sure if that fades in or just starts quietly...

The best fade-in of all time:
Festive Fifty number 1. And the bit with the drums at 2'09" always makes my soul jump that little bit to a higher plane.

Only the single version of 'Hand In Glove' though, right? The single edit of 'Ride The Tiger' by the Boo Radleys fades in too, although that's not the original unlike the Smiths example. Also, pretty much every live single fades in - and so does 'Sorted For E's And Wizz' by Pulp if you don't count that as a live track.

Supertramp - Take the long way home (kind of) Pretenders - 2000 miles. Has a brief fade-in. Sad Cafe - Every Day Hurts. Has a very brief fade-in.
