So when you listen to music... do you listen to albums in full, from start to end, or do you shuffle and listen to random songs all the time? ? I kinda prefer listening to full albums... or playlists that I make... so I almost never shuffle

i usually have a full play list of all my songs in alphabetical order (by artist) so i can hit shuffle or listen to one artist pretty easily, i usually shuffle unless i get the urge to listen to a certain artist/album

I do both, depending how I feel. Shuffling is a good way of reminding yourself about great tracks/albums you have on your iPod.

I used to listen mostly with winamp. Now I use spotify.
I would ideally like spotify to have a shuffle that will randomise the order of the tracks but will play all of them before any are repeated.
It would be nice if shuffle were made into a playlist-only feature, i.e. if you turn on shuffle, it doesn't set it globally so it won't be set when you switch playlists. This annoys me when I go to put on the charts which I want to hear in the correct order and it jumps randomly. With shuffle it also doesn't randomly pick the first track, so you have to choose which one to start with.
A global or multi-playlist shuffle (where it would play from any selected or all playlists without having to combine them into one) could be a cool feature.
Winamp did have a random shuffle feature modified the order of the tracks in your playlist. If you wanted to keep the original order you had to duplicate (or export) the playlist first. When I randomly order my weekly playlist, I copy all the links into Excel, shuffle them using a column of random numbers (on which you then sort) then paste it back. So my weekly playlists are "randomly ordered" but they don't use a shuffle featue as such.

I do both but usually shuffle. Spotify will shuffle without repeats as long as you don't shut it down or lose internet access. It can sometimes just randomly shut down and that rests your shuffle. But I played 14 songs this morning on shuffle with no repeats, think a playlist with 40+ songs is asking a bit much of it.

If I listen to an album, then I listen to the album in the order it was released in.
But if I'm in a random listening mood then I shuffle between the 41,700+ tracks I have in my Library between what's stored on my PC from my CD collection and the Spotify account I have.

I shuffle on my MP3 player because I don't always listen for an album-length stretch. I'm slightly more likely to listen to albums at home though.

Whenever I use shuffle I just end up skipping through songs till I find one I want to listen to anyway, so it's pretty pointless.

I shuffle quite a lot, I have many playlists on my iPod which you can get it to shuffle through only, and that works really well for a playlist I have for making my personal chart. That one I update it every week on a Monday and it contains the entire Top 50 plus some potential new entries and from that I can usually develop/create my personal chart.
I have other playlists set-up too for different moods and it is nice to listen to them in random orders rather than the order I have listed as it makes it more interesting.

Every day I'm shufflin' (sorry)
I have playlists on Spotify set up for my personal chart Top 40 and for new entries/songs outside the 40 that might climb, plus general playlists and I always shuffle through those. Usually I play albums straight through though.

Every day I'm shufflin' (sorry) totally knew someone was going to say that my music collection is on shuffle 90% of the time, especially when i'm out. when i'm at home i'm more likely to want to stick with one or two albums or artists.

A bit of both for me sometimes listen in full to an album or sometimes play tracks from numerous albums, usually scrobbling to lastfm so it's listening at PC.

If i am playing an album for the first time i play it in full in order.
If i want to hear just various songs i grab a bunch of cds and then shuffle them but then i only play the track that comes up first and then put the next cd in. Its like i know what im going to here as i can see the cds but never know which track the player will pick.

With regards to the original question, if I am going to listen to a whole album I will listen to it in the order the tracks appear and not shuffle them.
A long time ago there was an album called "Breaking Glass" by Hazel O'Connor, which was a great album. However "Will You" was the last track on side 1 and "Eighth Day" was the first track on side 2. I thought it was better to start with one of her big singles and end with the song that made me want to buy the album in the first place, so I would listen to side 2 then flip and listen to side 1.
