On here you first nominate a country to represent, any country in the world, then a act & song to represent that country, anything from the back catalogue of any act that is the Countries Nationality, born and bred in the contry of choice.
Once we have enough nominations for a contest, voting will take place by PM to me in the Eurovision style voting, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points, 12 for your favourite and so on down, no points for anything outside your top 10, you cannot vote for the country you nominate though.
Most points wins.
First Just nominate country, act & song, voting later.
Countries, Acts & Songs Nominated.

I'm interested.
What's the eligibility criteria in terms of (UK) chart success?

I'm interested. What's the eligibility criteria in terms of (UK) chart success? Any song you feel anyone else will recognise, up to you what you chose, the better song the more points, so chose wisely. Any song that say had success only in for example Germany, that is unheard of worldwide will attract less points.

is it one song per country? Yep, Chose your country, then the act, then the song you want that country to be represented.

Surely, it should be the other way around: The more previously unknown the song is the better. So for argument sake (thinking of GOAT best songs of all time polls) you are saying its a good idea to send Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody to represent the UK is a great choice. If that is the case it seems a bit of a pointless exercise.

If Queen represents the UK, then there is an equally good song that will represent the USA, and Australia, even Ireland(U2 have brought out good tracks) and so on, BTW this is the first so let's see how this runs

(in response to raliverpool ) but we already have so many song contests that rely on sending previously-unknown songs. i don't think the sentiment behind this one is quite the same. for instance, if it's previously-unknown-artists-from-different-countries then it's basically just english-language lingovision isn't it? might as well do something different. on the other hand i do agree that basically entering any song from the UK or the US is going to be something of an exercise in pointlessness. so we could exclude those two countries?

Ok lets state a stipulation, the act nominated has not to have had a UK Top 20 Hit, this is to illiminate the Big boys & Girls in music, as I said this is the first.

I was thinking more along the lines of stopping obvious song selections, rather than the acts themselves. As an example because South Korea's Psy has had that monster global hit last year, and a less successful Top 10 follow up; I'd have no problem someone selecting one of his other many South Korean hits he'd had since 2001, I just would not want to see Gangnam Style or Gentleman included in this contest. Hence I'd have no problem someone selecting Queen to represent the UK, and then select either a minor hit or one of their album tracks which are unknown to the punters who've just got Queen's Greatest Hits albums.
