719 Moloko – Sing It Back - Boris Musical Mix Edit
Moloko were always a bit odd for me stuff like 'Fun For Me' I didn't get them. But when they went more straight dance I liked them then especially this there most obvious song. Other way around for me... Like Heaven 17 and Campag Velocet, they get their name from A Clockwork Orange.

This next bunch are a bit odd and all of them are too high, must have mucked up a bit when I expanded from a top 750 to a 1000 as most of these should be in the 900s, oh well.
715 Moby – Porcelain
One of the most classic Moby songs, one of the many hits of the ubiquitous 'Play'
714 Finitribe – 101 - Sonic Shuffle Edit
From Edinburgh and they had been going since the mid 80s but in the 90s they became for house and electronic, probably spurred on by labelmates The Shamen, who I discovered them through. This was produced by maestro of the time Andy Weatherall.

713 The Farm – All Together Now
I really didn't know what to make of this song at the time and I still am kind of undecided, it is either complete brilliance or really awful. I just dont know. 712 East 17 – Deep
The highest listed song by a boyband unless you count EMF who are still to come of course. All the best East 17 tracks had Tony Mortimer raps end of 711 Real McCoy – Another Night Time to get back on the cheesy Eurodance train, this song was just one step away from Dr Alban but far enough away to live on today without making my skin crawl.

The Farm featuring Pete Wylie of The Mighty Wah! The Farm managed the rare feat of following up a no. 1 album with a non-charter. "All Together Now" was produced by Suggs, and followed The Undertones in having a Subbuteo thing on the cover - only of a soldier rather than a Derry City footballer. The video featured their family members down the boozer.

710 River Detectives - Saturday Night, Sunday Morning
Forgotten Scottish band who just managed to get a top 40 hit in 1989 with 'Chains' and a #51 album. This was the last single of the album which came out in early 1990
709 Eels – Last Stop: This Town
One of the happier Eels songs and a funny video as well.
708 The Offspring – Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
Yes I was right I did make this is the highest Offspring song, it shouldnt be. Its fun I guess and another good video anyway.

707 Muse – Sunburn
Don't see much of Muse in this list as they only had a couple of singles which both sound so much better when you see Muse now than what they did on record then. There were hints of their greatness too come I guess.
706 Morcheeba – Tape Loop
My favourite Morcheeba single especially this single version, the album version was a bit too flat. I think this is another video I am seeing for the first time surprised that I never saw it on The Chart Show as they liked this sort of thing.

705 The La's – Feelin'
I always thought this was an odd choice for a follow up to There She Goes, so many potential singles like 'Liberty Ship' or 'I Cant Sleep' and this little ditty just didn't show how great they were, well I guess without this we wouldn't have Jake Bugg
704 The Beloved – Sweet Harmony
Now a very famous video, where you can play spot the TV presenter among other games. Unexpected brilliant single and still sounds good.

703 Gat Decor – Passion [Original Mix]
The Beloved were much loved by The Balearic crowd and this was a Balearaic anthem also. Featuring the non vocal version as it is the best.
702 Horse – The Speed Of The Beat Of My Heart
Horse or Horse Macdonald was a singer/songwriter from Scotland. She is still working today and a couple of ballads of her debut album were almost hits but this more band orientated single was my favourite at the time.

The River Detectives' "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning" is a *good* album (I loved "Chains", but I think for me the stand-out track was one of the other singles, "You Don't Know A Thing About Her")
Conversely, Horse's "The Same Sky" is a *GREAT* album, from start to finish, and "The Speed Of The Beat Of My Heart" is an absolute cracker of a single.
I have to thank Record Mirror for introducing me to both acts, back in 1989...
I seem to recall reading then when on tour in the States, Horse had to use the name "Horse (London)" to distinguish her from an American heavy metal band also named Horse. As if her home town (Anstruther, I think) were in any way close to, or remotely similar to, London....

That's definitely not the Morcheeba vid I remember - the one for "Tape Loop" I saw had the band miming and seemingly on a slow out-of-sight treadmill moving to and fro.
I'm guessing the conversation for the Beloved video went something like this.
-So, you can do me a video? -Absolutely. -How much will it costs? -A billion trillion pounds. -WHAT!!! For that sort of money I expect to be surrounded by fit naked models. -Funny you should say that...
The song came a bit out of nowhere; I seem to recall they'd been away for a while, and then voom, instantly their biggest hit.

Vya, I was a Record Mirror buyer as well from about 1987, I think it spurred on my obession with compiling charts and yes introduced me to lots of great music maybe not as alternative as Nme or melody maker which I started buying in the late 90s

Odd bunch next , first we have 701 that was missed from earlier in the week.
701 Kula Shaker – Govinda
Kula Shaker at their most Kula Shaker I would say.
700 Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine – The Only Living Boy in New Cross
First time seeing this video. A favourite band of one of my flatmates although I introduced them to him but he liked them more. Honestly cant believe how young looking they are in this video.
699 Wildchild – Renegade Master - Fatboy Slim Old Skool Mix
This track appeared I think 3 times through the 90s but I think the best version is the Fatboy Slim remix, just has more going on than the original techno versions.

698 Marilyn Manson – The Beautiful People
Marilyn Manson breakthrough track probably one of the most played in MTV2 history, I never liked another track as much as this one.
697 Weezer – El Scorcho
Not the most obvious single but from a great album 'Pinkerton'
696 U2 - Until The End Of The World
Not a UK single but one of the best tracks on 'Achtung Baby', also from the soundtrack of a rather odd Wim Wenders film of thesame name which I have seen ,reading its synopsis on Wikipedia I don't really remember it at all but sounds good.

695 Paula Cole – I Don't Want To Wait
Main theme to 'Dawson Creek ' which introduced a lot of new music to the UK most notably bands like sixpence none the richer, Shawn Mullins and Goo Goo Dolls, her track 'Where Did All The Cowboys Go' just missed the cut.
694 Guns N' Roses – November Rain
One of the longest and most self indulgent singles of the 90s although with one of the longest and most self indulge videos of the nineties, this really was the start of the end for GNR.
693 Sleeper – Nice Guy Eddie
First appearance from one of the main Brit Pop queens, more to come from them.

692 OMC – How Bizarre
One of the not uncommon one hit summer tracks in the 90s. This song will always be played on radio whenever the sun comes out in the UK.
691 The Jesus And Mary Chain – Sometimes Always
Beautiful track and probably the last great JAMC song they released with assistance from the gorgeous Hope Sandoval. This still sounds so good.
690 Ian Brown – Golden Gaze
Another artist appearing for the first time and as you would expect from me, there is more too come and of course a certain band he sung in.

689 Kula Shaker – Hey Dude Back so soon, this time with one of their less hippy sounding tracks, just straight up rock n roll. 688 P.M. Dawn – Set Adrift on Memory Bliss Early 90s massive pop rap hit sampling 'True' by Spandau Ballet of course. Reahed #3 in the Uk and a US number one. I really like this kind of hip hop.

687 Beats International – Dub Be Good To Me
And from the same era and goes so well after it actually, a number one from 1990.
686 Amy Grant – Baby, Baby
Some US pop now, Amy Grant was a Christian music star and she caused all kinds of controversy when she went pop and started singing about loving someone other than god, well as you can see from the video she wasn't exactly Miley Cyrus. She has since gone back to her roots though after her decadent 90s days hehe

One of the great moments in my gig-going career was seeing Brakes at the Concorde 2 in Brighton performing "Sometimes Always" with Rosay and RiotBecki. Shame their mikes were too low in the mix...

685 4 Non Blondes – What's Up?
This was a binge song at the time, I played it so much I really made myself so sick of it especially when it became a massive hit and was never of the radio as well. It is quite nice to come back to it twenty years later and appreciate it all over again.
684 Sultans Of Ping F.C. – Where's Me Jumper?
Comedy and Music rarely work but this stable of Indie Disco is always funny after a couple of pints. I saw them live supporting Ash or it might have been Sleeper anyway they were terrible , even this song was only good because the crowd drowned them out.
683 Faith No More – Evidence
Faith No More go trip-hop in this one of their more mellow moments, one of their most atmospheric tracks and in great voice as ever.

682 The Cure – High
I have only seen The Cure live once and it was during the 'Wish' tour and this was the lead track. This album is probably more remembered for 'Friday I'm In Love' now and it was their last decent album for a long time, I have have heard great things about their album out soon, so lets hope its a return to form.
681 Kingmaker – Really Scrape The Sky
Now in my opinion the best Kingmaker song again nothing particularly unique about it but its a decent enough song.
