76 9 L7 – Pretend We're Dead
We just had an all black rock band, and now an all woman one and another powerful but catchy song. Still played on MTV today. 768 Sting – If I Ever Lose My Faith In You A lot of people hate Sting and think he is/was uncool, many even hated The Police. Well I loved The Police but was only a fan of 'Fields Of Gold' all his other solo output I could take or leave mostly leave. So that's why we have this. Actually the only Sting single I have ever bought. link767 Ned's Atomic Dustbin – Kill Your Television
While Madchester was still viewed a bit too dancey for some indie clubs, this song was one of the guaranteed floor fillers, I don't know how often in the early 90s I chanted KILL!!...YOUR!!...television! on the dancefloor, sad I know. But this song was the first song I danced with my wife with, in the loosest sense btw, after meeting her once 6 months previous and never thinking I would ever see her again. So it will always be special to me. Neds and romance who would have though hehe 766 K-Klass – Rhythm Is A Mystery
Haven't had one of these for a while a true Dance Anthem. link765 Crowded House – Fall At Your Feet This song was an amazing return for this band. Having lost touch with them after loving their debut album so much, this song not only made me like them again, they finally broke the UK properly and became a mainstream band. Even more so when their best of album 'Recurring Dream' was released a few years later and people realised how many great songs they had. link764 Catherine Wheel – Ma Solituda By 1998 Catherine Wheel were pretty much forgotten apart from in the US where they still had a huge following. Then out of nowhere they released this massive AOR ballad, almost beating Goo Goo Dolls at their own game. A beautiful forgotten song but the past masters of shoegaze. 763 Cast – Sandstorm More standard fare from the Scouse boys. link762 Extreme – Get The Funk Out
I couldn't do it it was too much , I cant include 'More Than Words' it is just too horrific no matter how much I liked it then too but the 90s tell the tale of the handover of the baton to a new breed of Rock band and Extreme although a new band were old skool. So instead it is the more fun of silly 'Get The Funk Out' link761 My Life Story – 12 Reasons Why I Love Her Bigged up recently on Indie/Rock forum they were one of the best 2nd tier Brit Pop bands and I think better than Divine Comedy but they did get as much success, shame. 760 Tricky – Hell Is Round The Corner
Brit Pop wasnt just 60s sounding indie bands, there were so many scenes that showed how musically great the UK was and none less than trip hop. If Portishead were the sound of trip hop, Tricky was the face.

I'm going to have to back out of this thread. There are so many embedded videos that my computer cannot cope. It's taken me 13 minutes to get to a position in which I can make this post - and everything else was frozen in trying to sort out the embedding. Sorry.

759 Sugar Ray – Every Morning
Ok less videos for now or they will be optional, will probably use links for the more obvious songs or ones that may not b ethat popular, starting with this one. Not even sure what you class this as, guess they are just one step above a boy band I guess, a vocal harmony group that's it. Well I like it so summery Sugar Ray - Every Morning 758 Sisters Of Mercy – Vision Thing This track starts with one of my favourite lyrics ever, they are a just an amazing band, its like they were transported back from the apocalypse. 757 Live – Lightning Crashes One of the best post grunge bands, this ballad is a grower. Live - Lightning Crashes756 Smash Mouth – Walkin' On The Sun Another summery track from the late 90s. Smash Mouth - Walkin On The Sun755 Culture Beat – Mr. Vain We haven't had a massive number one for awhile so here is one and it is mega techno Euro pop, one of the catchiest in that genre. Someone said recently that we only liked songs like this because we heard them when we were drunk on holiday and buy them when we get home out of nostalgia, not true we buy them because they make you want to dance and they are fun, just like number ones today. Culture Beat - Mr Vain754 Soul Asylum – Runaway Train More post grunge now and a massive radio hit from Winona Ryders ex, hated him btw, hehe 753 Wamdue Project – King Of My Castle
More dance cheese, I actually did hear this in a club before anywhere else and it just sounded awesome and it actually still dounds great another dance anthem also brilliant 'Ghost In The Shell' video, makes any song great. 752 Sunscreem – Perfect Motion Now some techno pop now from a very underated band that had a brilliant debut album and some great songs, and they actually lasted most of the 90s but this is their 2nd best song. 751 Rocket From The Crypt – On a Rope
Brilliant rockabilly band from the mid 90s and they dominated this genre until The Hives took over in the early 00s. This is their most well known song.

750 Ocean Colour Scene – Sway I actually like the baggy era version of OCS more than the Brit Pop one, no vid for this. 749 The Juliana Hatfield Three – For The Birds No vid for this either from teh album 'Become What You Are' Still video clip748 Guided By Voices – Teenage FBI
Wow a Pitchfork band, this was the only track of theirs I really knew in the 90s, heard a lot more later, Not sure if this is a proper video either. Guided By Voices - Teenage FBI747 Dan Reed Network – Lover Another band born from the same rock funk scene as Red Hot Chili Peppers, were being groomed to be big stars when teh singer Dan of course shaved his head and a million girls deserted him and the band, hence sealing there fate as nearly men that just didnt want it enough. This was their 2nd biggest hit in the UK. 746 The Prodigy – No Good (Start The Dance)
This was the first song that made me take The Prodigy seriously, they almost over night became one of my favourite bands!! 745 Madonna – Justify My Love
One of Madonna's best and a brilliant sexy video which could bring the Student union to a standstill whenever it came on the Video Jukebox, they were awesome weren't they loved Laserdisc Jukeboxes

744 Lucid – I Cant Help Myself
More Dance anthems this was one of my favourite tracks to play in the last couple of hours of student night, I would just go into full blown trance DJ mode, I loved that era so much so much fun to DJ.
743 The Fall – Free Range
Only appearance for The Fall in my top 1000 but although I liked them in the 90s again I didnt love them till ater and I only actually bought 2 of their tracks then and this is the better of the two.

742 Dodgy – In A Room
Haven't had much Brit Pop for a while, here is one of Dodgys finest moments.
741 Deacon Blue – Your Town
One of my favourite bands of the 80s were starting to get forgotten in the 90s but they did they only thing you could at the time, they went dance, they were all at it.
740 DJ Shadow – High Noon
Now some cool electronica from one of the most respected artists of the 90s, the album this came from 'Entroducing' is regarded a modern classic.

Going to do ten more as they next bunch are pretty great.
739 Dinosaur Jr. – The Wagon
One of the first grunge bands I ever heard and have loved them for years since 'Freak Scene' back in 1989. They can do no wrong for me but I think their peak was the mid 90s.
738 Beth Orton – She Cries Your Name
haven't had a classy gorgeous singer for a while, one of the most beautiful voices ever and this is her finest moment.

737 Republica – Drop Dead Gorgeous Sorry for spoiling the mood Not so classy and certainly not a great singer but they were such an energetic band and they certainly livened up Brit Pop. 736 The Boo Radleys – I Hang Suspended Now my favourite Brit Pop album isn't 'Definitely Maybe' , 'Different Class' or even 'Park Life' , it is 'Giant Steps'. A perfect album and this is one of the best singles but not THE best that is much much higher. 735 The KLF – Last Train to Trancentral [Live from the Lost Continent][Mix]
See I told you this section was worth posting now. Brilliant band and so many great singles, not too mention their videos were great as well.

734 Chapterhouse – Falling Down
One more from Chapterhouse, the awesome 'Pearl' is still too come somewhere in the top 40!!!
733 The Cardigans – Sick & Tired
Cant remember if this was the first song I heard by The Cardigans, it might have been 'Carnival' which just misses the cut. I think they were a little twee for me at first but as a St Etienne fan, I took them too my heart.

732 U2 – Discotheque
Is this the last great U2 single, possibly although I did like 'Staring At The Sun' as well.
731 Natalie Imbruglia – Torn
I dont even need to include the video for this as it is so well known but I will as I will just split the post sup again. Best debut single by a soap star ever and always will be.
730 Inspiral Carpets – Move
Just squeezing into the 90s we have a track of the 'Life' album. I was aware of Inspiral Carpets mostly for the fact that they did the theme to a kids TV show but I didnt buy anything from them until 'This Is How It Feels' yes so predictable. This was on the album and so many previous singles were even better than their breakthrough hit, it was a good investment.

Dodgy came up with a fantastic single in "Summer Fayre", but then they jumped wholeheartedly on the Britpop bandwagon and the quality dropped precipitately. Similar to Boo Radleys, really.
KLF and The Fall are obviously iconic. Culture Beat I could not stand. Nor Wamdue Project.
Can never have enough Chapterhouse.

I agree about Boo Radleys dropping when they went to Brit Pop but not till after 'Giant Steps' it is by far their best album.

Lost my post from earlier so just quick comments now.
729 Gay Dad – To Earth With Love
Unfairly panned as being one of the bands that killed Brit Pop, what we dint realise that was was too follow was even worse, miserable, acoustic bands and things wouldn't get much better till 2003.
728 Foo Fighters – Next Year
Plenty more too come from this band, another great video as well Dave meet Gravity to the punch.
727 The Bluetones – If...
First appearance from one of the best Brit Pop bands

726 XTC – Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead
Really thought this song would get XTC back in the charts but they had to settle from #71. 725 Mercury Rev – Car Wash Hair Another track from the brilliant Indie Top 20 Vol 13, this was their debut single.

724 Manic Street Preachers – From Despair to Where I think this is one of their singles that gets overlooked, I always prized by 12" Manics singles more than the 7" inches, dunno why, they just seem more special 723 Energy Orchard – Sailortown Think this is the first time I have seen the video for this. There was a mid of signing frenzy for slightly Celtic bands from Scotland and Ireland in the late 80s. This band were very successful in their native Ireland but didnt crack the top 40 over here.

722 Super Furry Animals – The International Language Of Screaming There was also a spate of signing from quirky welsh speaking bands in the mid 90s and Super Furry Animals were the best by far, although always have time for a bit of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci but they don't make my list this time. 721 Stereolab – Wow And Flutter
One of the best Stereolab's singles, the other is still too come. This really reminds me of my Indie DJ days always a good band to play while the place is filling up 720 Morrissey – We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful
Don't know why this is my top Morrissey song of the 90s but it is from his best album anyway of the 90s 'Your Arsenal'

719 Moloko – Sing It Back - Boris Musical Mix Edit
Moloko were always a bit odd for me stuff like 'Fun For Me' I didn't get them. But when they went more straight dance I liked them then especially this there most obvious song.
718 Suede – Electricity
First appearance of many from Suede, the only band that I have everyone of their singles on CD that had a physical release.

717 Sonic Youth – 100%
First non indie single by one of the greatest US Alternative bands. I remember at the time I was a little bit disappointed with it, they have done so much better but in 2014 it sounds awesome so there you go.
716 Rancid – Time Bomb
They got bigger and better in the 00s but I have always had time for Ska and the Ska Punkpop of the late 90s early 00s. Rancid were the best by far. Also loved The Transplants which the singer formed with Blink 182.
