I've recorded the first episode of this three parter, which continues tonight and concludes tomorrow.
Did anybody else catch this? Is it worth watching..so much TV and so little time!
These bbc period dramas can be a bit hit and miss but i was hoping the gothic look of it might be worth investing it. It stars Jessica Brown Findlay aka Lady Sybil from downton abbey, which doesn't bode well, I'm looking for the polar opposite of that!

This is not my thing, I saw a bit of it last night, after 20 minutes I couldn't get into it, and funny enough I have read the book, trust me the book is probably much better, and usually I do like a bit of period dramas.

First episode of this was quite good but got quite dull after that. There was a bit of mumbling, mainly from one actor, not sure what his name is but he looks familiar, think he was in the borgias. Anyway can't believe there's been over 2000 complaints about mumbling!! Who would care enough to complain about something like that!

It's a big thumbs down from me. Beautifully photographed, and authentically costumed. But a preposterous story, with cliched, portentious music, and a shockingly stupid script. The strong Cornish accents didn't bother me nearly as much as the feeble direction and plotting.
