Working on something, got bored, pulled off a Whitburn chart book in trying to find something out about Red Ingle, and spotted the Billboard top 10 best-sellers for the week of 22 March 1947.
There are four songs in it.
1. "Anniversary Song", which is at 2, 4, 6, 7 and 8.
2. "Managua, Nicaragua" is at 3, 5 and 9.
3. "Open The Door, Richard!" at 10.
And 4. "Heartaches", by the Ted Weems Orchestra (with whom Ingle played), which is the no. 1.
On top of that, Guy Lombardo & The Royal Canadians have versions of 1 and 2 at nos. 6 and 5 respectively.
And the top three had not moved from the previous week. The one new entry was Andy Russell's version of AS at no. 7, squeezing out Margaret Whiting's "Guilty" from no. 10.
The following week there would be two new songs as new entries - one by Argentine-born Dick Haymes - but even a month later there were still three Anniversary Songs in the top 10.
I've had a quick look through but can't see a top 10 with as few as 4 songs. Some come close; and the previous September fully half of the top ten is "To Each His Own".
Has there ever been a duller chart?

That top ten later featured on a compilation album, Now That's What I Call Dull.

Opens my book:
UK top 10, 24th March 1947
1(1) Al Jolson - Seanee / April Showers 2(2) Bing Crosby - September Song 3(3) Frank Sinatra - September Song 4(4) Bing Crosby - Dear Old Donegal / McNamara's Band 5(7) Issy Bonn - My Yiddishe Momme 6(6) Hoagy Carmichael - Mr Music Master / Hong Kong Blues 7(9) Lou Preager - How Lucky You Are 8(10) Lionel Hampton - Air Mail Special 9(11) Gene Krupa - Leave Us Leap 10(15) Spike Jones - The Glow-Worm
Two versions of September Song but with double A-sides you actually get 12 songs in there.
Now goes off to find out how that Yiddishe Momme song goes...

I wish we had a chart dating back to war times.
