Cloud Nine by George Harrison.
Pipes Of Peace - Paul McCartney
Double Fantasy - John Lennon
Nothing stands out by Ringo Starr for me
But any best of album by Lennon or McCartney must be the best.

I think john Lennon would of won hands down as having the best solo output but it ruined it for me when take double fantasy could of been One of the all time great albums but then he sticks some crap by his missis in between his songs.

Can Wings count as "solo" McCartney? (In which case I would probably nominate "Band On The Run" as the best album by a Beatle outside of the band).

I think john Lennon would of won hands down as having the best solo output but it ruined it for me when take double fantasy could of been One of the all time great albums but then he sticks some crap by his missis in between his songs. It could have been a great album, but he bottled it big time after the demos to dilute everything production wise: Just compare the finished article: www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8KKH1Ce4RwWith the original version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZae6fbxItIBut he decided the original Double Fantasy tracks were "too punk sounding" so he blandified them. Leaving Yoko's tracks to actually sound instrumentally better. Whether a factor in his decision making was to deliberately do the opposite of his sparring partner's adventurous but very patchy McCartney II album, has been open for debate for the last 35 years, but this track certainly sounds more current (like Hot Chip 25 years before they existed) than anything on the very stale sounding Double Fantasy:

As post Beatles albums go, I'd have to nominate the Traveling Wilburys Vol.1 as the best. But I do agree with Mic1812, because all of the solo albums have their good and not-so-good moments, all four moptops are best served by greatest hits albums.

Boy plastic Ono band is one harrowing disturbing record but pure brilliance got to be the best solo effort by any of them.
