Anyone been watching this on Channel 4? It's an interesting concept - reimagining the world as it would be if someone had invented disturbingly human-like robots to do all our boring menial work. Seen the first two episodes - it's not always very convincing but I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes...

We're watching it. We really really want it to be good. It seems like it could be good. But for some reason it's not quite getting there at the moment. Each episode just leaves us not quite satisfied, but not in an exciting 'I need the next episode NOW!' way, unfortunately.

I can definitely see that. I think part of the problem is that they've got carried away with the issues and angles they can explore with the concept, and are trying to do too much in one series. Unemployment caused by synths replacing humans, synths being illegally 'customised' by hackers, synths being forced on people with health issues and controlling their lives, parents being worried about synths coming into contact with their kids/replacing their roles as parents, and of course synths somehow learning how to be human (we're clearly supposed to see this as the 'biggie')... it's an awful lot to get to grips with over the course of a whole series, never mind two episodes. With all these problems, I find myself wondering how it came to be that synths became so ubiquitous in the first place!
Personally I'm not enjoying the 'flashbacks' that Anita and some of the other 'human' synths are having. I think, with all of these other issues to explore, it would have been better if they'd allowed the 'synths humanising' plotline to develop gradually over the course of the series, instead of making it clear that this has already happened from the first episode...

Just caught up with the most recent 2 episodes. I do think it's getting better - or at least, papering over the cracks successfully enough for me to not notice them as much

I think it is brilliant, one of the best things on the telly at the mo along with Wayward Pines. The acting is superb, especially the synths, or Hubots as they were called in the original version. I think it has had endings which made you want to watch the next ep. the bit with Leo having a charger in him, was like What!? Are these synths what was used to bring leo back, and so they got some of his human emotions in return? After the policewoman was revealed to be a synth as well, but hiding it, you wonder who isn't a synth?

I've been watching this, but for some reason its getting boring, the episodes are so slow, it needs to step up a gear. Jill Halfpenny on the loo in the first episode dropping her panties was more of a shock
