Last night I took my daughters to a local venue to see the One Direction Tribute act Only One D.
I have to say they were very good and excellent with the kids. To my daughters and my shame, I was even singing and dancing.
Slight resemblance to them and did the songs well.
My Girls were well happy, although I was left out of pocket with merchandise, but hey ho, could be worse , could be the main One d band...lol.
What tribute bands have you saw and have they been any good?

Off to a fake festival in a few weeks, they have blondie, coldplay and oasis, I'll let you know what they are like, but I think I will be in close proximity to the bar, it was the wife that sprung it on me.

I remember seeing the Austrailian Doors a good few years back, at the same venue as last night and they were very good. Fake festival sounds good o . Have a good time.

i don't think i'd ever listen to a tribute band, because i have a thing about when i buy cds, it has to be the original artist singing
it drives me crazy when i'm listening to an album and the people singing arn't original singers, the only acception to that being cover versions

I saw Bjorn Again in the mid-90s. If I recall correctly, they were the first tribute band to really make a name in the UK, and got the whole bandwagon rolling. They were excellent.
I've seen another Abba tribute band more recently, on a night out in Stockholm. Although not as accomplished as Bjorn Again, sitting in a club in the home city of the original band, listening to authentic covers in the genuine accent, made for a top night out.
I saw the Bootleg Beatles in the mid-90s as well. Also great. And another Beatles tribute band at a company Christmas party about 10 years ago. Remarkably, the same band also performed as the Rolling Stones and the Blues Brothers, depending on what the organiser wanted.
But the very best I've seen are U2UK. They have everything spot on, and put on a superb show. I couldn't recommend them too highly.
The Smyths and Limehouse Lizzy are also very good, according to several friends who've seen them.
The worst was a Queen tribute band, that made no effort at all to look like the originals, and didn't sound much like them either. Shirebloggess and I walked out after half-an-hour, it was so bad. (Sorry, I don't remember what they were called, so I can't warn you off).

Almost Pink is playing in our local in a couple of weeks. £10 a ticket. May give it a bash.

Bjorn Again I was slightly disappointed by, but the Smyths (gladioli and all) were quite fantastic.

I presume the One D tribute bands don't have to sack their Zayn now?

I saw A Duran Duran tribute act once who went under the name of Mondo Carne. They were good. Not sure if they are still together or not. Im going back to the late 80s.

I've also seen Bjorn Again - they were great! Although my favourite track of theirs was a cover of a Hot Chocolate song! I have their album knocking about somewhere.
