Help with a playlist of recent pop/dance hits

Hi everyone,

I'm spending my holidays in a small village in Spain, and I have a close friend who just opened a pub here. He asked me for help with the music he's playing every night. Most of the pubs here are playing techno, trance and stuff like that, so he's decided to play pop/dance hits to attract a more adult public and to do something different to the rest.
He's asking me for help with Spotify playlists with classic stuff from the 60/70, 80s, 90s and 00s. And I'm really struggling with recent hits, because I listen to old stuff mostly, so I'm asking for some help if anyone can suggest me pop/dance (or dance, as long as it's not hardcore). You know, that kind of songs you'd like to listen to in a pub where you're having a drink at 2 am. Songs like Jason Derulo "Want to want me" or WALK THE MOON "shut up and dance" is the kind of songs I'm looking for. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. Also songs from 1-2 years ago is fine too, I need songs most people know, he wants to play mostly well known songs to attact people, but any "good" song is fine (it's ok if they're not on Spotify).

It sounds weird he plays these songs and mixed them with classics from ABBA, Rollings or even The Beatles, but somehow it works and I'm glad a pub at night is playing "real music". Guess where I'm going every night...

Some really good ideas, but I'm not sure I explained myself properly, maybe my English is not that good. I'm definitely not looking for ballads or slow tempo, the idea is songs that make them dance or sing along while they are having a drink. So Because of you or Bleeding love, which are both great songs, won't make it.

Meghan Trainor yes, even when I'm not a big fun, but it's not about what I like or don't, she's popular here so he better plays her hits.

Pink - I added Raise your glass and So What.

Take That and Ed S. are mostly slow songs, aren't they? Well, Take that has some classics a bit more dance, I might add some, but not sure they are so well known here as in UK.

Katy Perry - Roar is a bit slow, I added California gurls and Hot n Cold.



I'm looking for a bit more dance, but any uptempo song could make it. Also classics like Tubthumping that everyone will sing along are ok. Thanks for your help!

Thanks again. I'm sorry to tell you but he can't play Macarena That song was well known in Spain before its international remix, and it has become a bit of a joke here in the south of Spain, it's like you playing the Teletubbies song there.

Ok, Sandstorm is a song I love, but it's a bit hardcore for this place, it should be a bit more pop. Think that after that he might be playing Night Fever by the Bee Gees. On the other hand, Problem by Ariana Grande is not uptempo enough, is it? It's just there, I might include it.

So out of all your suggestions, the Mad Murray compilation was the biggest help, with 95% making the list. As I need way more songs, I'm still trying to figure out how the spotify lists that TheThorne said work. I did several searches, but I couldn't find any playlist close to what I need, and it's really slow and tedious, unless I'm doing something wrong. I'll be back to it tomorrow, thanks everyone

There are 1000s of playlists straight on Spotify but you need to invest the time into searching , I often join 10 or so together and remove all the ones I don't want and make super themed playlists
