"The Chain", "Staying Alive", "Wuthering Heights"... Looks like my hate chart. Well I think that Manhatten Transfer track is appalling easy listening muzak. Hence it is coming absolutely nowhere near my chart.

Nine more entries this week from:
- Deptford's new wave band's UK #19 debut hit established the band's trademark vocal style, with (the songwriters) Chris Difford singing an octave lower than Glenn Tilbrook.
- The Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers written & produced disco song features Norma Jean Wright on lead vocals and Luther Vandross on background vocals. It peaked at UK #9, USA #38, & Canada #45. In 2001 Nile Rodgers won an out of court settlement from as a result of Steps 2000 UK #1 "Stomp" borrowing elements of this track.
- The high energy Ireland #10 & UK #12 first single taken from the New Wave band's Robert "Mutt" Lange produced second album A Tonic for the Troops.
- First written in 1975, this UK #34, USA #34, Canada #21, & Australia #40 was the last John/Taupin collaboration for 4 years. This proto Robbie Williams bitchfest was written (now confirmed by a February 2017 interview with Piers Morgan) about David Bowie, after he had been frozen out by John Lennon, for "the cooler kid in the school", which stuck in John’s craw that Bowie had come out as bisexual while in a heterosexual marriage, while he felt he’d had to conceal his sexuality. It also didn’t help that the critics fawned over Bowie’s art-school pretensions whilst John, the entertainer, was disparaged by many of the same tastemakers.
- The UK #33 hard rocking opening & title track of Ritchie Blackmore's band's 1978 third album, which was the last to feature original lead vocalist Ronnie James Dio.
- The frequently used in film, TV, documentary beds, instrumental taken from the album Ambient 1: Music for Airports composed by Brian Eno, Rhett Davies, Robert Wyatt.
- The Birmingham based roots reggae musical band, released their debut album Handsworth Revolution, which contained this UK #41 call for resistance against forces of racism recording written by singer David Hinds.
- The UK #2 cover of Dion and the Belmonts debut USA hit from 1958.
- This easy listening cover of the 1976 Jeffrey Comanor original, reached USA #9 (AC #1) & Canada #11.

McCartney was a bit myth-ed on behalf of his friend Todd Rundgren who had the same idea with his Utopia band, who's superior "Deface The Music" album homages belatedly came out in 1980). reaching UK #39 with this Neil Innes penned track. In 1986 after Michael Jackson had bought the rights to The Beatles back catalogue he successfully sued Neil Innes for plagiarism.

My favourite song of 1978 year : Twiggy - Fallen Angel
Always prefer "Summer Nights" and "Hopelessly Devoted To You" over "You're The One That I Want".
Also you didn't include another my # 1 and the first Cheryl Baker's Eurovision attempt (Co-Co - "Bad Old Days")
A title looks a little ironic now, because comparing with the poor quality of the most modern Eurovision entries, this song is a little treasure.
