Sadly it was as I expected. The four frame deficit was just too much for Ronnie to claw back at that end of the match. But for that, I think it might have been a different story. The only good thing that can come out of it is hopefully Ding can give Selby a match, but then I thought that of Fu who didn't really turn up. I think Ding will be different. To me Selby looks like strolling to a third world title and that will p*ss me right off

To me Selby looks like strolling to a third world title and that will p*ss me right off I thought Ding would be tough for Ronnie but disappointing he didn't at least make it closer. I only saw the last frame of last night's session but hoped that might inspire him (though it was probably rather optimistic that he would win from that position).
Not sure what to say about Fu losing to Selby with a session to spare. As you say, ominous for Selby. Can't say i'd be overjoyed with him winning again.
Just Barry Hawkins to root for now.

I would like to see Ding win on Monday or Hawkins.
Hopefully a Ding v Barry final so I can't really lose.
Hawkins should beat Higgins, although I gather Higgins has been playing well so far but I hope it runs out next round. Might be a good close match, as could Ding v Selby.

MARK SELBY 13-3 MARCO FU DING JUNHUI 13-10 RONNIE O'SULLIVAN JOHN HIGGINS 13-6 KYREN WILSON BARRY HAWKINS 13-9 STEPHEN MAGUIRE
I have to say Ding simply outplayed Ronnie over the 3 sessions. It might have been different with Ronnie at his best but we haven't seen that for 3 or 4 years now. And it's a huge win for Ding given how much he's struggled against Ronnie in the past.
I think the first 2 matches took too much out of Fu but Selby seems to be playing as well as he ever has at the Crucible, which is scary given his ability to win matches without ever playing really well.
Hawkins has turned into a real Crucible specialist - 4th semi-final in 5 years - and can't be ruled out.
Higgins has kind of slipped through un-noticed and will be a big danger for Selby or Ding if he gets to the final.

To be fair though, Selby hasn't been tested at all yet. He's had no pressure. That can only change in the semi's and final. I'm not saying he can't handle it, but it will be interesting to see him given a proper match, which Ding, and Hawkins or Higgins will do.

Hearing Barry Hawkins interview on BBC Kent this morning he said the match against Maguire was terrible by both players and he'd have to improve to beat Higgins. I didn't want to say it for fear of tempting fate, but Hawkins has quietly gone under the radar up to this point. I do think he's had a kind draw to get to the semis though.

He's good at going through tournaments under the radar. Not started good against Higgins but there is still plenty of time.

Hawkins has just managed to hit the black with his cue while taking it away from the table. I don't recall ever seeing a player do that before!
