I was so sure they'd be killing Bronn off this episode. Killing characters off seems to be the only way the writers know how to tie up loose ends (which is all this series seems to be for the minute, underneath the two arcs of defeating Cersei and the Night King).

Yeah the scorpion weapon was definitely the one Cersei had in the dragon pits under the Red Keep. I'm sure Qyburn can knock up a few more if he hasn't already, being practically a wizard in the show by any other name.
I too thought Bronn was a goner. I definitely thought that moment where he had to choose between his gold and his life was going to be his final decision. Maybe he'll end up with his castle after all, perhaps the Red Keep! Bronn on the Iron Throne is as likely as say Varys or Littlefinger...

I'd say Varys is far less likely! the Red Lady has well and truly marked his cards, 100% going to die before the show ends. Although saying that, she also promised Arya that they'd meet again and that is yet to come into fruition.

Everyone dies though...Just some are quicker than others Thanks for that clarification on the Scorpion, nice to see it burn, but obviously they'll have more set up at King's Landing, which wont get used, because Dany wont attack it with her dragons. So it was mainly Tarly men and Tyrells that burned then, rather than the Lannisters, still a big loss to take, and the food was wiped out? Oh and just who was on Arya's list, just wonder where she will go next? Next ep. is called Eastwatch, so maybe some Whitewalker action at last?

So now that all the food from the Reach has been blown to smithereens, does that mean everyone's army is going to starve?

So now that all the food from the Reach has been blown to smithereens, does that mean everyone's army is going to starve? That's the bittersweet end to the show for me, that the battle for the Throne is settled, the white walkers are defeated, but there's not enough food to keep everyone going through what everyone seems to think is going to be a long winter. Remember in Westeros the winters can last for years. In my mind, the epilogue to the show is the first thaws of spring and the lucky few who've survived poking their heads out to see what's left of the their land.

Another good episode. The Lannister-roasting at the end was truly glorious to behold; wonderful, wonderful battle scene! I'd been waiting for the dragons to be used in battle and I definitely wasn't disappointed. My heart was in my mouth when Bronn went all Bard-the-Bowman on Drogon but luckily (and somewhat predictably - how lame would it have been to lose the star dragon so early in the war?!) it didn't quite work out. I also loved the horde of Dothraki stampeding into the Lannister army, and the look of sheer terror on the soldiers' faces. With all the focus on dragons, it's easy to forget that almost no-one in Westeros has ever even seen a Dothraki warrior, and how terrifying they must be to face in the field. A bit like the Mongol horde first invading eastern Europe. I was kind of underwhelmed by most of the rest of the episode, if I'm honest. Didn't buy the sexual tension between Jon and Daenerys at all - the inevitability of them having a relationship hangs over ever encounter they have and Davos' shoehorned-in line about Jon staring at her 'good heart' was really rather cringe. Did anyone notice the music switched to the Ygritte theme when they were in the cave together? Lol! Speaking of which, the cave-paintings thing felt forced/overly convenient. But I suppose they have to convince Daenerys that her help in the North is needed. I wish they could have come up with a slightly more believable option than the cave paintings though! It's good to see the remaining Stark kids together again. I did enjoy Arya's little fight scene with Brienne. But I wonder what to make of Sansa's face as she watched them - she seemed annoyed or worried, but I can't figure out why. Meanwhile Littlefinger continues scheming away in the corners, but less and less convincingly. Surely between Charles Xavier Stark, Assassin Ninja Stark, Undead King in the North Stark and I-Feed-Rapists-to-Dogs Stark, they will find a way to be rid of him soon? Other points: - Jaime will obviously be fine. It will be interesting to see how Cersei adapts her strategy to dragons now. - Bronn sniggering at Dickon's name was HILARIOUS - Best line of the episode goes to Arya for saying 'no-one' trained her - Second-best line of the episode was Bran parroting Littlefinger's 'chaos is a ladder' catchphrase back at him. That was hairs-on-back-of-neck-tinglingly creepy. - Meera's goodbye to Bran was heartbreaking, after all they've gone through. But she's right: he's not the same person any more - Missandei not knowing what a b*st*rd is despite speaking 19 languages was a LITTLE ridiculous - Seriously, where in the Seven Hells is Ghost?! Thoughts for next week: - Surely we are due some Night's King action at Eastwatch, if the title is anything to go by. I expect we will also see Sandor and the Brotherhood (nice name for a band) - A certain erstwhile Ser Bear of Bear Island will probably catch up with Daenerys at some point. Prepare for sad Ser Friendzone face when he sees the King in the North sniffing round his Khaleesi - One of the most intriguing people at play currently is Euron. Last we saw him burning the Unsullied's ships at Casterly Rock, but I guess he will still have Yara with him. Will Cersei have new plans for him now that Daenerys seems to have regained the advantage? - Most importantly, by the time we've had the usual complement of dragons, White Walkers, sea battles and giants, will there be any CGI budget left for Ghost? Tune in next week to find out!

I'd say Euron's usefulness is rather limited now. Does Dany even have anymore ships left? What's the point in having a strong naval fleet now other than to act as a ferry service?

The Ironborn are supposedly specialists at coastal raiding so perhaps that will come into play. I agree he's not hugely useful to Cersei, not as much as the army that just got roasted, but if we assume that the majority of the Lannister army has just been lost, then she doesn't have much else. Would Euron switch sides if he thinks the Lannisters aren't going to win? He did originally want to side with Daenerys, after all... I assume Daenerys has no ships left. I also assume she has been sensible enough to return to Dragonstone after the battle rather than head off elsewhere (makes sense, especially as Drogon was injured).

So what about Ser Jorah redirecting the Golden Company to Dany rather than Cersei! I'd forgotten that Dondarrion is on Aryas list...

They were in the scene with Dany and the guy the banker, Cersei said she'd sent her master to make overtures to the Golden Company, they are sellswords, but the best sellswords, and they feature more in the books. Ser Jorah was once in them, and if he brought them onto Dany's side, would get her forgiveness...

She commanded him to go and cure himself of greyscale and he's managed to do that - and she did say 'when I conquer the Seven Kingdoms, I need you by my side' so I expect she'll let him off. Still I guess we can probably expect the Golden Company to turn up at some point if they have been mentioned...

- Jaime will obviously be fine. It will be interesting to see how Cersei adapts her strategy to dragons now. That looked like a very deep stream (but perhaps that was just Jaime's perception?) - but he's in there with his armour. It _should_ be tricky to get him out... but yeah, he's probably going to survive. Are you aware of Game of Game of Thrones? It's on the Verge, and someone goes through each episode and gives points for kills, good lines, awesome deaths (Olenna's got +50), like a fantasy league. Tagline: he knows all. He doesn't care.

Well it wouldn't have been mentioned for no purpose (even though it's only the third time they've been mentioned in 7 seasons) so there must be something to it.

My goodness, what an episode of characters leaping around everywhere very quickly! I've always argued how sparsely populated Westeros feels - one big city and then lots of castles with the odd inn or cottage scattered around, but I'm amazed at how quickly one can travel unimpeded and how things are gathering pace now for people on the move. In one episode, Dany returns from the mainland to Dragonstone, Tyrion and Davos go to King's Landing and back to Dragonstone with Gendry who then gets all the way to Eastwatch with Jon and co. Not to mention Jorah getting from Oldtown. I thoroughly expect Sam and Gilly's wagon to turn up at Eastwatch just as the next episode starts at this rate!
I'm still loving the show, it would take a lot to make me fall out of love with it, but some of it feels so rushed. As others have said, the plot is hurtling along and sadly some of the character moments are being squeezed out.

Was anyone else screaming "but... BUT!!!!" when Sam ignored Gilly when she found that passage in the book about "Prince Raggar" having a marriage annulled so he could remarry again in secret...

Jon legitimised in a throwaway joke between a wildling born of incest and a disinherited former member of the Night's Watch!

Yeah, I heard that as well, and thought it was poor that Sam didn't pick up on it really. As for them zipping around the place, Jon and Co were getting onto a boat, they're super fast round the sea. As for Dany getting from near KL back to Dragonstone, she went by dragon, even faster! Nice to see the dragon recognise another Targaryen... Good to see Gendry pop up, but you do wonder why now? And Littlefinger plotting, but what, anyone see what the letter said, something about someone dying from wounds? Thing is, annoying again, do we believe Arya didn't know Littlefinger was lurking, I know he's sneaky, but he hasn't been in the House of Black and White, or has he... Assuming he'splotting against Jon, really, surely not, off with his head! Get Brienne to sort him out!
