Climbing to the top of my Retro Rewind chart is the former Los Angeles based The Wall Of Voodoo lead singer/songwriter with the UK #4, Australia #76, & top ten hit in Ireland, Poland, Germany, & Belgium new wave Vietnam country track from his debut album The Big Heat.
My featured faller is the veteran Birmingham band's USA #9, Australia #20 top 40 hit written by the band's Swindon born lead singer, principal songwriter and lead guitarist Justin Hayward, and taken from the Tony Visconti produced The Other Side of Life album. Parts of its nostalgic video were shot less than 2 miles away from where I live, which I watched being filmed 32 years ago!
My highest new entry is the debut single by the former Go-Go's lead vocalist. The USA #3, Canada #1, Australia #9, & UK #67 song featuring ex Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor was written by Paula Jean Brown, James Whelan and Mitchel Young Evans, produced by Michael Lloyd, for Belinda Carlisle's debut solo album Belinda. But was planned for an aborted 4th Go Go's album that never materialised.

My featured faller is the Manchester indie pop band's 4th single produced by Iain Broudie, which was included on the famous C86 compilation album.

The Cambridge pop rock band fronted by singer/songwriter Boo Hewerdine peaked at UK #87 (& #86 in 1987 upon reissue) despite Radio 1 support, not least as they were on a small indie label at the time.
The Australian pop rock band's Antipodean anthem featured vocalist/lead guitarist Mark Seymour (whose younger brother, Nick was bass guitarist for Crowded House).

My highest new entry is the Chicago based R&B singer with the lead single from his second album Frantic Romantic which peaked at USA #5, Canada #2, UK #2. It was written by producer Narada Michael Walden with Preston Glass to reflect more modesty when it came to sex in light of the AIDS pandemic at the time (but was first offered to Shalamar except they then split). Ironically, Stewart died of AIDS-related liver cancer on March 17, 1997 at age 39.
The London rock band who had far greater success in North America thanks to their The Police meets Bryan Adams sound made USA #6, Canada #37, & UK #83 with their self penned track taken from their debut album Play Deep.

My featured faller is the Glasgow indie pop group with their 6th single which was popular on John Peel's year end Festive 50 countdown, probably as it sounds like The Clash meets Jesus & Mary Chain.

My featured faller is the single from the soundtrack for the American comedy-drama film Nothing in Common. It was written by Alannah Currie and Tom Bailey, and produced by Geoffrey Downes and Bailey. With the departure of band member Joe Leeway, this USA #54 & Canada #68 was the first new release from Thompson Twins after they had become a duo. Strangely it was never released in Europe.

Still find it unbelievable Stan Ridgeway never charted in the US with Camouflage. It seems such obvious topic to do well there - Vietnam War. Or maybe the effect was adversary and it was not released on purpose?
