This week's featured faller comes from the Camden group's UK #18 single from their 1984 album Keep Moving written by Graham McPherson (Suggs) and Mark Bedford. This was the last single under the Stiff Records label, so the record label did not fund its video or promotion. Hence why this serious song about homeless people in the homeless refuge Arlington House stalled despite being much loved by music critics.
The highest new entry comes from the songwriting duo from the then disbanded Squeeze with this Tony Visconti produced UK #57 single from the duo's only self titled album prior to reforming Squeeze in 1985.

EMI bungled the release of Ocean Deep. Originally the B-side the Baby You're Dynamite it was promoted to double-A a couple of weeks later but the momentum was already lost and there was little airplay - a real lost opportunity. I have mixed feelings over Ocean Deep.
On the one hand it is a real good AC ballad which should have been the A side; but on the other hand it seemed to become the easy listening Daniel O'Donnell-esque template he used increasingly from the second half of the 1980s onwards where he seemed to give up trying to be modern sounding (bar the occasional effort). Unfortunately you're entirely right. I remain convinced that at many times in his career this would have been massive - it's my personal favourite track of his and in fan club polls since the 1980s it always finished in the top 3 so other fans have the same opinion of this.

This week's featured faller is a song written by Siobhan Fahey of Bananarama & Robert Hodgens of the Bluebells and first recorded in 1982 for the former's girl group trio Bananarama self titled album. So this country pop "recover" became the Scottish band's biggest hit initially reaching UK #8, & Ireland #13. But did even better after it was used in a Volkswagen Golf UK TV 1993 advert resulting in it topping the charts in the UK & Ireland. In 2002, the session musician Bobby Valentino, who performed the violin solo on The Bluebells' version of "Young at Heart", won the right to be recognised as co-author of the Bluebells version of the song due to his added distinctive motif/hook contribution. And I did not mention the video features Scottish actors Molly Weir (Supergran), Stratford Johns (Z-Cars) & Clare Grogan (Gregory's Girl) ...
My highest new entry is the USA #1, Canada #1, South Africa #1, France #1, Spain #1, UK #2, Australia #2 dance pop rock song written by Ray Parker Jr. as the theme to the film of the same name starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson. Huey Lewis sued for plagiarism due to its similarities to Lewis' "I Want a New Drug". Where a settlement was agreed out of court. Details of the settlement remained confidential until 2001, when Lewis commented on the payment in an episode of VH1's Behind the Music. Parker subsequently successfully sued Lewis for breaching confidentiality!
