Is it your favourite single from Bucks Fizz ? No. It is a song which shares the same title as a single by The Killers. When we were young?

- The shortlived London post punk band led by singer-songwriter Kirk Brandon signature UK #40 hit.
- To prevent confusion with their previous single "Joan of Arc", the Andy McCluskey penned song was retitled "Maid of Orleans (The Waltz Joan of Arc)" for its single release. Both Architecture & Morality album songs are about the French heroine Joan of Arc and both reached the Top 5 of the UK Singles Chart (UK #4), although this single was more successful internationally, topping the charts in several countries including Germany (Year End best seller), Spain, Belgium, & Netherlands.

- The John Farrar written & produced dance pop single from the Australian's Physical album. Despite a great, very 80s video it stalled at USA #52 & UK #18.
- Not to be confused with the more famous Velvet Underground track, the South London art pop group reached UK #31 with this Giorgio Moroder produced track.
- The rejected Bodysnatchers composed song about a woman with low self-esteem (she compares herself with an old boiler) who is raped and assaulted. (In the song Rhoda Dakar references the rape of a friend some years before). Was picked up by Jerry Dammers who produced this track with the member of the group who did not join The Belle Stars. It got banned by all UK radio and reached UK #35.

- The Canadian rock band second major hit reached Canada #10, USA #29 (Rock #2), & Australia #19, taken from their second album Get Lucky.

- The Escape album Power Ballad co-written by band members Steve Perry and Jonathan Cain spent six weeks at USA #2 (AC #2), Canada #2, & Australia #43. The UK had to wait until 1996 for Mariah Carey to turn it into a top 5 hit.
- The horn laden R&B uptempo UK #29 single from the album Raise!
- The USA #9 (AC #1) folk pop song was written as a tribute to his father, Lawrence Fogelberg, a musician and the leader of a band, who was still alive at the time the song was released, but dying of cancer.

After very long pause my # 1 is a chart topper here.
Original "The Land Of Make Believe" spent 9 weeks at # 1 and allSTARS* cover version was the ultimate hit in 2002.
Every from their 4 single was # 1 in my chart.
P.S : "When We Were Young" wasn't successful in my chart, in June-July of 1983 year the biggest hits of my chart were "Moonlight Shadow", Brotherhood of Man with "When The Kissing Stops" and "Love Blonde" by Kim Wilde.

Poor ABBA never got it in your chart with One of Us. In my old retrospective (based on UK chart) I had this chain of # 1 hits : Bucks Fizz - The Land Of Make Believe (9 weeks) ABBA - One Of Us (3 weeks) ABBA - Head Over Heels (5 weeks) Bucks Fizz - My Camera Never Lies (3 weeks) Also the one from my favourite ABBA songs "When All Is Said And Done" wasn't a single in UK, so possibly ABBA should have two months on the top with 3 different singles.

Yeah the rundown of RA's no1s in the fall of 1982 slightly dissapointed me. Firstly, I was never a fan of Adam Ant. That type of music simply doesn't impress me at all, same applies for Jam. I just felt Under Pressure is a much better song than Bedsitter but it's everyone's taste. Before Bedsitter appeared here I couldn't even recall the song at all - unlike Under Pressure which may be overplayed but a total classic. It's My Party cover I never liked at all but it seemed to have some sort of a spell on UK population.

Last Dreamer: Nine weeks for Bucks? That must have prevented a lot of records from being no1 on your chart. I did that retrospesctive for 1970-2003 period and only 2 singles spent more weeks (10) at # 1. Only two singles were a victims of Bucks Fizz's domination :Altered Images - I Could Be Happy Dana - Dream Lover + They stole two additional # 1 weeks from the previous leader Aneka - Little Lady, which already spent 3 weeks at # 1.

Last Dreamer > Don't want to hijack RA's fantastic thread but dou you have your complete charts somewhere? I tried to look into your threads and there are only bits and pieces. Or even a list of your no1s? Maybe we could leave this up to messaging instead so we don't ruin this...

Glad to see you charted Abba's When All Is Said And Done.
That's my favourite track from The Visitors album.
Would have been very interesting to see if it could have changed their UK decline if it had been released as a single here.

- The Basildon synth pop group's 4th single and first single written by Martin Gore, featured new member Alan Wilder (as Vince Clarke had given notice of his plans to shortly leave the group). - The John Farrar & Tom Snow penned Australia #8, USA #5, Canada #4 & UK #43 single from the Australian's Physical album.
- Written by the group's lead guitarist and keyboardist Charlotte Caffey, this rerecording of their the Jam meets the Police Power Pop debut independent 1980 single became their signature tune peaking at USA #2, Canada #3, & Australia #29. - The David Byrne produced title track of their USA top 40 1982 maxi EP/mini album, which failed to trouble the single charts.
