Apologies for this post in the music thread, but I wanted to reach more of the people I regularly interact with than can be found in the Gubbins thread.
I've decided it's time to say goodbye to posting at Haven. I'm no longer interested in the Charts (I've had a good innings as I'm now 45 years old), and I need to refocus my "internet down time" into something more rewarding and interesting for me. I've also found some regular Haveners to be increasingly nasty and bitter in recent years which then brings out the worst in me, and so I am happy to be removing this negativity from my life.
I may occasionally lurk or even vote, but as I reach 15000 votes after almost 10 years, I wanted to say a big thank you to all those Haveners I've had the pleasure to discover and discuss new music with. I wish you all the very best, and all the luck and love in the world moving forward.
Let the music play on....

I have zero interest in the current charts these days but still find plenty of things on here that interest me.
That said, understand your reason for going. I've thought about leaving in the past, and may yet do so myself in the future, especially if I ever hit 20000 posts.
I've enjoyed your posts when I've come across them so you'll be missed. All the best and take care.

Good luck and I'm sorry if you feel offended by any of us (I do apologise if that was me too). I hope you have found your own path and place to live happily and peacefully 🤗

Sorry to see you go, @roos1ter but a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do.
Entirely agree with you about the charts - my life used to almost revolve around them but they started to gradually go to pot with Downloading and Streaming has killed them.
I wouldn't worry about other Haveners - best just keep your head down and participate in what interests you on the site.
As the Allison's sang in EarlP's recent Best UK Eurovision thread:
Goodbye Farewell So Long Au 'Voir Are You Sure You Won't Be Sorry Come Tomorrow You Won't Want Us Back Again?
Wishing you all the very best in your future endeavours.

I've been here for nearly 8 years. I must confess, I find it difficult to retain names and characteristics of different posters, my brain just files it all away as Haven, so when I see posts like this I have no real idea whether @roos1ter is someone I've tended to get on with or not, I recognise the name though so we must have interacted quite a bit. Good luck with whatever you do instead, it's sad to see someone who's made a big contribution decide to go.
I've always found Haven to be a mixture of people who are pleasant and people who are cantankerous. I'm constantly amazed by people's capacity to miss the point of a post or thread, and also frequently bemused by the rules about staying on topic and the enforcement of those rules. I'm more of a freestyler personally, seeing what bizarre and unexpected direction a thread takes always seems like part of the fun to me. Still, the slightly edgy, occasionally confrontational nature of what's said on here doesn't stop me coming back, I enjoy it really.
I couldn't disagree more about the charts being uninteresting though, I think this is the most fascinating time in their history, it's anybody's guess what on earth is going to happen next, and how people will react to it. Sadly the music is around 90% rubbish but that's beside the point really.

I'm not sure when I lost interest completely in the UK chart, but 45 can't be too far away from the age I was.
I was hopeful at the start of the download era that it would be more about people's choice and less about outside influence and I think there was a lot of good music in the chart up to 2008 but 2009 seemed to be a year when so much of the good music just stopped charting. I'm not sure when I started noticing that far too many songs were getting extremely long chart runs. In any case I was 44 in 2009.
I'm not sure that is the main reason to leave a website unless that is primarily what Roos1ter used this site for, and not for the various music polls / contests, all the wonderful personal charts and combi-charts that are now not only based on current music but also 1967 and 1985. All the sport discussion and the predicta contests...
Oh well. Maybe Roos1ter will miss not taking part in Hidden Haven Treasures and will come back..

I don't think age is what made me lose interest in the chart, more the stagnant mess it is, the rules I don't agree with and struggle to follow and finally, a similar re-evaluation of my life. Giving up around 4 hours every Sunday to do the chart show used to be a real pleasure, but it became a chore. Moving, getting married and so on also took me away from here, but I don't think I could ever properly leave, nor would want to. That said, good luck and hopefully see you around.

Good luck. I have to say if my main interest was the charts is be long gone too. I have never been into the charts so that's a non issue for me. I'm here for the none charting music, football, the people I get on with and the competitions in the music and football forums
Hope we see you around again even as a casual poster

This has made me really sad. I’m so sorry that you’re going although not altogether surprised I suppose.
We have a lot in common (especially the 80s music!!) and you’ve really made me laugh and smile over the years with your posts. I think we’d be good friends in the ‘real world’, we’d have a lot to talk about.
I completely agree about the charts, I’ve got little interest in contemporary music, I tend to just listen to 80s and 90s stuff nowadays, which is a shame.
Don’t forget there are still a lot of nice people on here, I will really miss you.
Take care my friend and please drop me a line now and again, it will always be good to hear from you.

As others have said, I'm sorry to see you go but you did tell us this was your plan.
Hopefully you'll check in now and again to "see" us.
Good luck @roos1ter
