Ronnie O'Sullivan has won the Shanghai Masters, beating Luca Brecel 11-9 in the final. This was the first tournament played in mainland China since the start of the Covid pandemic. It was an invitational tournament so doesn't count towards the rankings.
The next tournament is the British Open, starting on 25th of September - the first of three tournaments in successive weeks.
The World Open has been added to the calendar and will take place in March (around the time the China Open used to take place) in Yushan, China. It brings the number of ranking tournaments on the tour this season to 17.

Judd Trump has won the English Open, recovering from 7-3 down to beat Zhang Anda 9-7. It is Trump's 24th ranking title. This was the first time Zhang had reached the semis of a ranking event (as was the case for the player he beat, Liu Hongyu).
It's straight into another ranking tournament tomorrow as we have the Wuhan Open, in China.

The next tournament is the Northern Ireland Open next week.

Judd Trump wins the Northern Ireland Open, beating Chris Wakelin 9-3 in the final. It's his 3rd ranking title in a row. He has now won 21 consecutive matches in ranking events.
In the rankings, just Β£10,000 separates the top 3, with Ronnie O'Sullivan at 1, Luca Brecel at 2 and Trump at 3. It's likely whichever of the 3 goes furthest in the International Championship next week will go to the UK Championship as world no.1, though Mark Allen still has a chance to climb to the top if he wins the tournament.

Down to the last 8 at the International Championship in China. Judd Trump's run of victories ended at 22 when he was beaten by Stephen Maguire at the last 32 stage.
Quarter-finals: Stephen Maguire v Jordan Brown Tom Ford v Barry Hawkins Ronnie O'Sullivan v Ali Carter Zhang Anda v Ding Junhui
Whilst it's maybe not the last 8 people were expecting, only Ford and Zhang have never won a ranking title and all 8 players have played in a ranking final.

Zhang Anda has won the International Championship after beating Tom Ford 10-6 in the final. Zhang also had a 147 in the match. The win moves Zhang up to a career-high 15th in the world rankings, one place ahead of Ford. Zhang also qualifies for the Champion of Champions, which starts tomorrow (though Zhang won't play until Wednesday). It's an astonishing turnaround for a player who has been on and off the tour since making his debut in 2009, when he was just 17.
