47 Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy – Kid Creole And The Coconuts
Last appearance for Kid Creole on these lists, we will finish with their signature tune. It is just a total school disco classic. Play this video and it will be stuck in your head for the next few days. A huge hit it peaked #2. Oh random fact my old boss gave Kid Creole a lift home from a gig as they were stuck in a traffic jam!!

46 Promised You a Miracle - Simple Minds
Still not happy that Neil says Simple Minds don't have enough good songs, not enough to win maybe but be fair most acts I would enter wouldn't win anyway. But from 1979-1991 and then 2006-now they have so many good songs. This would be in my top 10. It reached #13 in the UK.

45 Freeze-Frame - The J. Geils Band
Now we have one of my favourite new bands when I was 11, i just loved their sound , so much it woudl set me on a music taste that I wouldn't really move from until 1990. They have one more song to come and it is very high up. This reached #4 in the US and #27 in the UK.

44 We Got The Beat – The Go-Go's
We will keep the nu-wave rock sound going. Not my favourite Go-Gos song but it was their biggest hit reaching #2 in the US and not charting here at all! The album went to number one in the US.

43 Fantastic Day – Haircut 100
First of two songs from one of the best pop bands in 1982 and one of the few early 80s album I own on vinyl, this was their third top 10 hit reaching #9 in the UK.

42 Talk Talk - Talk Talk
Their first top 75 single it was re-issued after the success of 'Today', its a very hard song to Google. Quite a simple song they go onto to much more adventurous music but its still good stuff. It reached #23 in the UK and #75 in the US.

41 Temptation – New Order
Best single yet from New Order who are definitely getting stronger as a band, I think they will have something special in our next list. This was a standalone single and reached #29 in the UK

40 The Model - Kraftwerk
An older song of course originally released in 1978, it was the B side to 'Computer Love' in 1981 but DJs started playing it and it eventually reached number one in the UK in 1982.

39 Torch – Soft Cell
More synth pop and first of two entries for Soft Cell in 1982, the other one is very high up. This track reached #2 in the UK.

38 Maid Of Orleans – Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
This batch isn't all synth based but it is certainly seeming that way. The 2nd Joan Of Arc themed track. This reached #4 in the UK. I never understood why OMD were so obsessed with her hehe.

37 Party Fears Two – The Associates
The highest Scottish band on his list and a band I have never liked as much as I wanted to. Billy Mackenzie had a great voice but I just found them quite difficult. This of course is their biggest hit and reached #9 in the UK.

36 I Can't Go for That (No Can Do) - Daryl Hall & John Oates
Now one of their most well known songs, sampled many times most famously by De La Soul. A rare occasion a Hall & Oates song that does really well in UK, this time reaching #8 but still bigger in US where it was a number one.

35 Rosanna - Toto
More US soft rock and the first single from Toto's biggest album '4', we will definitely be hearing more from that. It reached #2 in The US and #12 in the UK.

34 Town Called Malice – The Jam
33 The Bitterest Pill (I Ever Had To Swallow) – The Jam
Both missing the top 30 and they are both brilliant in their different ways so just can't split them really. 'Town Called Malice' was their third number one and the ballad 'Bitterest Pill' peaked at two.
I think I prefer it as its just not as played and just has a great feel.

32 Reap the Wild Wind - Ultravox
I am really enjoying being reminded how many great songs Ultravox had and sorry Associates you aren't the biggest Scottish song. First single taken from their new album 'Quartet' it reached #12 in the UK and #71 in the US.

31 Rock the Casbah - The Clash
It feels wrong this only being #31 but I have quite a few personal songs that just need to be higher up the list. My favourite Clash song think its many others as well and it was also their biggest hit in the US reaching #8, it only made #30 here. It will always remind of my student days as it was played everywhere and we had a club we went to called the Kasbah so really..

30 Who Can It Be Now? – Men At Work
As we start to see less of The Police in these lists, they have an Australian rival with a very similar sound. At the time I only knew them for one song but over the years I have fell in love with more and more of their back catalogue and they are definitely now one of my favourite 80s bands. This was their big breakthrough debut single reaching number one in the US but just #45 here.

I disagree with you that "The Message" was the best rap single of the first half of the 1980s. However I will agree with you that Grandmaster Flash & Melle Mel were behind the one that was..
