23/11/2018 Kodak Black ft Travis Scott & Offset - Zeze
The Travis Scott directed "meta" visual for the Florida rapper, which offers a clever behind-the-scenes look at how music videos are made, whilst amusingly taking "the michael" on more expensive CGI pop promos.

25/11/2018 Neil Diamond - The Ballad Of Saving Silverman
In 2001, Neil Diamond appeared in Saving Silverman, a very dumb, and critically panned, Jason Biggs comedy about Neil Diamond superfans trying to stop their friend from marrying his controlling girlfriend. This was written at the time but mothballed as the theme to the said movie, not least as it sums up the premise and plot of the film and includes a spoken-word bridge.
But it has been dusted down, and recorded for inclusion on The Neil Diamond 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, a six-CD retrospective of Diamond’s career featuring 115 tracks.

26/11/2018 Zuzu - Can't Be Alone
The Liverpool born singer/songwriter who supported Courtney Barnett on a recent tour, releases her new single which whilst sounding like across between the Libertines fronted by Cerys Matthews sounding like Clare Grogan doing a Scouse accent, has lyrics which address the subject matter of not wanting to be alone at Christmastime.

28/11/2018 Sam Fender - That Sound
The 24 year old alternative rock singer/songwriter from South Shields 7th "single" which appears on Spotify as part of his 6 track Dead Boys EP. He is certainly my pick of the three Brit Awards 2019 Critics' Choice award nominees.

29/11/2018 Grimes - We Appreciate Power
Claire Boucher returns with her first significant material since 2015’s Art Angels, with this track which sounds like Robyn going all early-mid 1990s Nine Inch Nails/Depeche Mode via a lyrical warning of a dystopian AI dominated future. If only Lorde's last album, and Robyn's recent album were half as good as this.

Ok, so I think lead singer Matt Healy is a monumental bell end (although with his parents you can understand why he is the way he is) and heir to Transvision Vamp's Wendy James; & Razorlight's Johnny Borrell's throne of putting their foot in their mouth every time they speak, by acing as if their music is landmark seminal works when they are manifestly not. And their song & album titles seem to be designed to rile people like me with their pretentious twitter hashtags slogan-isms. But I know when I hear a good record, and can see a good video when I see it .... and this is certainly both.

03/12/2018 The Specials - Vote For Me
The first new single to feature Terry Hall since 1981 is the lead single from their forthcoming 40th year anniversary album Encore. The Coventry ska revivalist band now features Steve Craddock (Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller) on guitar; & Gary Powell (The Libertines) on drums. As per their seminal late 1970s/early 1980s seminal works this is a socially aware observation on the state of UK politics.
