Thanks for all of your input so far. It's all very interesting, and it's going to be harder than I thought... It seems the timeline would sit somewhere between 1992-1999. Maybe we should start by throwing a few suggestions of songs out there. A few I'd suggest to begin with are:
Ocean Colour Scene - The Day We Caught The Train James - She's A Star Suede - Animal Nitrate Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall, Live Forever Pulp - Common People, Sorted For E's & Whizz

Of course I love all those songs as well except the OCS ones only liked 'Riverboat Song'. I also excluded what has been preferred to as Post Brit Pop which many of your songs are, a rebellion or reaction to it.

I've always really liked 'Something Changed' by Pulp, but I know it wasn't one of their bigger hits.

I know it sounds like a stupid question, but would you consider American bands like Garbage to be Britpop? I only ask because I have seen them described as such.

A lot of people seem to think Radiohead weren't brit pop, not sure why??

A question would you count older acts who appropriated the BRITPOP sound as Britpop (i.e. Nick Heyward - Kite; David Bowie - The Buddha of Suburbia; Squeeze - This Summer; Morrissey - Dagenham Dave; etc).
Personally I count Paul Weller's 1990s music as Britpop as he had the Ocean Colour Scene as his backing band before they went "solo"; but no one else.
Similarly do you regard dancier & indie pop acts such as The Stereo MCs; Saint Etienne; Dubstar; Republica; Apollo 440; & Everything But The Girl's mid 1990s hit material as BritPop or not?
And what about non British acts such as Bjork & Garbage who clearly tagged along with the BritPop scene?

A lot of people seem to think Radiohead weren't brit pop, not sure why?? They were British, in the Pop charts, made catchy music between 95-97, became big around at the height of Britpop, were on Britpop magazine covers and on just about every Britpop compilation album ever released but I agree they are one that has been lumped in

Not sure about Garbage being Brit Pop though, they were closer to the Alt rock sound from the US although with a British sensibility. I would include Dandy Warhols and definitely Spacehog though. I wouldn't consider Bjork as her 94-97 music is really alternative dance/electronica rather than Brit Pop. I already suggested included St Etienne, Dubstar and Republica but Apollo 440 is a step to far, you might as well include Prodigy if you include them.

Bjork?? reall? 100% no, not even remotely close, amazed at her even being considered, same for EBTG, really?
Garbage is more alt rock than brit pop, but that said, I have a couple of britpop compilations that do include Garbage

I always think one of the remarkable things about Britpop is that it seemed to open the charts up to other exciting things that were not necessarily British or pop, but which could be a success on the coat tails of that movement. The Eels are a good example - Novocain For The Soul and Susan’s House were both big hits in the time frame we’re looking at, and I can’t imagine that happening any other time, certainly not now.
Someone else mentioned older acts who had a Britpop related resurgence too. I would definitely put Nothing Lasts Forever by Echo & the Bunnymen and A Girl Like You by Edwyn Collins in that category. Maybe Yes by McAlmont & Butler too, although that’s a bit different as they weren’t as old.

I'll have to grab my britpop special playlist if I still have it from winamp back in the day.
Songs like Monaco - What Do You Want From Me and Electronic - Forbidden City got on mine. Not sure if they're "britpop" but they were in the britpop era and had the right sort of feel for me.
Brimful Of Asha was included on my list too.

Don't count Cornershop it was made a big hit thanks to Fatboy Slim so that makes it firmly in the Big Beat area like the Terrovision Tequila remix and stuff like Wise Guys, Bentley Rthym Ace etc
