What a strike by Modric! Argentina 0 Croatia 2 - and the scoreline flatters Argentina. They simply don't have a clue what to do.

What a performance by Croatia. 3-0 and a wonderful team. Could they be the dark horses of this World Cup?

Argentina were poor in the first half, worse in the second. You can see why they struggled even to qualify.

Great howler from the Argentinian goalkeeper, Great win from Croatia, Messi was a no show and Argentina need a miracle. Hoping Iceland win their last 2 games.

I really enjoyed that match. Croatia thoroughly deserved the win, even without the head start gifted to them. And Argentina thoroughly deserved to lose.
I think the debate has to come to a close ref. Messi. He is not the best player in the world, and he never has been. Truly great players can rise above the rest of the team, and you need to look no further than Cristiano Ronaldo or Eusebio for evidence of that.

Croatia take advantage of a pitiful Argentina performance to book their place in the last 16. Argentina will almost certainly have to beat Nigeria in their final game and may well need other results to go their way. Last 16 line-up as it stands:
Russia v Portugal
France v Iceland
Serbia v Mexico
Belgium v Senegal
Spain v Uruguay
Croatia v Denmark
Sweden v Brazil
Japan v England

By my calculations Argentina will definitely have to beat Nigeria to stand a chance - if Nigeria v Iceland is not a draw, Argentina will have to win to finish ahead of the winners of that match, and if Nigeria v Iceland is a draw (which would incidentally guarantee Croatia top of the group), then Nigeria would have a better GD than Argentina.

True. I forgot to take Nigeria's game against Croatia into account. As crap as they've been, I have a feeling they might actually sneak through.

^^^ Wow. It took England 78 years to play a non-European nation; 110 years to play an Asian nation; and 114 years before they played an African side.

Oh for Iran to beat Portugal, how I'd laugh. And I just caught up with the highlights and obviously I don't like Maradona for what he did in 86 and the fact that he's a druggie, but Rebic did a leg breaking tackle, and only got a yellow card, and then proceeds to score the first goal, when he shouldn't even be on the pitch, and people say Croatia are a wonderful team? Decisions like that change games however woeful Argentina are.

To be fair. Argentina should of had 3 red cards too. They just went around hacking players down. Was disgraceful.
Croatia are just ok. Argentina were that bad

Feel sorry for the so-called "lesser" nations.
The rub of the green seems to be going with the more fancied teams.

And bravo to the ref in the Brazil game for reviewing the "penalty" and not giving it, if only we'd had him reffing our game when Kane was rugby tackled!

Unfortunately after Nigeria's win today I think Iceland are out. Can't see them beating Croatia. Pretty disappointing from Gylfi Sig. Thought he was having a good game until he blazed a penalty over the bar, he lost his way a bit after that. Pleasantly surprised to see Bodvarsson start though and was really impressed with him.
