I'm never confident with the Stags, I thought we could do it under Evans, but even he struggled despite his constant bullying of match officials. I'd hope we can be Top 7, I'm just not sure we will, sorry Daz, and I'd say the same for Leeds, not sure the new manager has even signed any players? I always had faith Leeds are flying too It's a marathon not a sprint! But Leeds do look good, seen them play twice now, if they keep that up, then yeah, they should do very well. We will see where the Stags are after 10 games.

I'm considering putting a tenner on Liverpool beating Crystal Palace by 4-0 tonight... I have a feeling they are going to go goal crazy.

Well, for better or worse I've just done it... I'll either be £170 better off tonight or will be £10 worse off.

Ah, well, I was half way there. Liverpool should have won by 4 or 5 goals. They remind me of Newcastle as they can't seem to score! Crystal Palace 0 Liverpool 2.

I thought Palace looked good, and I'm still not convinced by that penalty at all. Salah just looked like he stumbled, wonder what VAR would have made of it... Do we have goalline technology through all the lower leagues now as well, saw it was used in the Leeds game at the weekend, and sure it was mentioned in a league 1 game as well?

A massive, massive, result for Liverpool tonight avoiding another infamous Crystanbul disaster.
Virgil van Dijk & Alisson Becker transfer fees are looking cheap as chips on the basis of the first two matches of the season.
As for the penalty. Come on if Gary Neville; Jamie Carragher; & Dermot Gallagher all reckon that was a pen .... then I reckon people who think that was not a pen should look up the rules, as the combination of Sakho's outstretched arm, and his second in vain outstretched leg attempt to make contact with the ball so making contact with our Egyptian King made that a very easy correct decision for Michael Oliver to make.
Mind you Aaron Wan-Bissaka red card deserves to be revoked, because replays clearly showed Mo had already given that ball an extra touch so he had lost control of it, so the young Palace defender did not stop a goalscoring chance, even though he fouled Mo Salah.

Yes, Palace looked quite good though I still think Liverpool could have had another couple of goals had their finishing been better. Plus I would have won some money!

Reading have signed Josh Sims from Southampton for the season. Got a feeling I've seen him score in an under 23 game against Reading in the past. What do you think of him Shireblogger?

I'm a big fan of Josh Sims. He's fast, has good ball skills, and appears to be a quick thinker. Actually, I'm a bit disappointed he's out on loan, because I'd like to have seen him given a chance to fill Dusan Tadic's boots. But, the experience at Reading will do him some good, toughen him up, and, hopefully, give him plenty of game time. A good signing IMO. Please let me know how he gets on.

I see that Ossett Town and Ossett Albion have merged in the summer and become Ossett United, not everyone is happy of course, but for a town that size to have two football clubs, both struggling, then it seems to make sense.

He came on for his debut last night and played about half an hour. He struggled to have any impact but in that period we were trying to hold on to our lead and after Blackburn equalised it was them who looked most likely to score. Lucky point imo but then we were unlucky to lose to Derby on the opening day so our luck has evened out in the games I've seen. He did play one good pass though to set up a counter attack.

Makes total sense. Neither club was going anywhere and the new club should be one of the favourites for the league this season.

Josh Sims came on yesterday at roughly the same time in the game as he did on Wednesday and his cross led to us hitting the bar and then his pace won us the penalty in stoppage-time which we scored to get a draw. Before the game I did have a feeling we might get some kind of result, though not 1-0 down! From what I've read and been told Villa were the better team in the 90 mins so a lucky point. Great result all the same coming so late even if it leaves us 23rd!

A bad result for Newcastle yesterday. According to the news this morning we had a mere 19% possession of the ball and all we did all game was to defend. In the circumstances it was probably the best thing to do but it made for a poor game. And to make things worse, once we'd equalised we then went and scored an own goal! Rafa looked fed up yesterday and I have an awful feeling he's going to walk. At his press conference on Friday he was asked what he thought about all the fans protests against Mike Ashley and his answer was "I don't blame them (the fans)". The club have received £130m in the last 6 months, from a mix of TV money and profits from transfers and Ashley seems to have used it to buy House Of Fraser! So we have no real strength in depth there but we do have an owner who now does a nice range of perfumes

Yet another rich idiot fails to learn from history as Blyth AFC have resigned from the Northern League. The club had climbed two divisions in recent years after their owner pumped a load of money into a club with no history or fanbase, then wondered why the club wasn't making any money back...

Shame it's only rich idiots at small clubs that seem to suffer... Robin what do you make of what is going on at County? Sack Nolan who took you to the playoffs, and then be looking to replace him with Kewell from Crawley who's win ratio is woeful to say the least!

The club had climbed two divisions in recent years after their owner pumped a load of money into a club with no history or fanbase, then wondered why the club wasn't making any money back... It did seem they were going to go under a couple of years ago but I thought they'd got their financial problems sorted. It's sad to hear it hasn't worked out.
I still remember their FA Cup run in 1978 when they made the 5th round and it took a retaken corner kick for Wrexham to score a last minute goal to equalise. The replay, which took place at St James Park attracted a crowd of over 42,000, which Wrexham won. Had Blyth won they would have played Spurs in the next round.
