208 Glass Tiger - Simple Mission
What a change. As many of you know Glass Tiger were one of my favourite bands of the 80s. Although my taste had really changed by now 1991, I could not ignore a new Glass Tiger album. It also gave them their 2nd Uk top 40 hit which was a huge shock. Listening to this album over the years much more than I did at the time, it has a lot of great songs on it. It reached #33 in the UK. I will not feature the hit but instead this brilliant AOR pop rock song which is probably in my top 5 Glass Tiger songs, the closest they get to sounding like Def Leppard.

207 INXS - X
The eighties favourites continue and I bought this for similar reasons. This was their last great album for me although it was a slightly inferior version of 'Kick' but that wouldbe in my top 20 albums of the 80s so they were never going to match that. It was really hard staying fans of bands when your taste kept changing so much. Love this album though great playing it now. It reached #1 in the Uk and #5 in the US.

206 Placebo ā Without You Iām Nothing
There are some 90s band that I rarely listen to anymore and Placebo are definitely one of them but I loved everything they did at the time. Its always good to hear a single or two but I just wouldn't stick this album on now but it is fine for what it was. It reached #7 in the UK. This is still a total tune though.

205 Deacon Blue - Fellow Hoodlums
What is it with this batch another of my favourite 80s bands. I fell out of love with Deacon Blue with this album. I felt they were trying to hard to be relevant and ironically the least relevant song on the album, is actually the best. They should never have tried to go baggy. Must admit i do play this album quite often still though not a batch on their previous 2 albums though. It reached #2 in the UK. This song still gives me chills though. <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.600000000000023px; height: 6.899999999999977px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 133px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_49939509" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 133px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_36152186" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 420px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_82149147" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 420px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_91863779" scrolling="no"></iframe>

Ok I have listened to 9 albums this week, and I am reshuffling as we go. Two of this albums are too low so we will do the next 7.
204 Cardigans - Grand Turismo
The Cardigans biggest album on the countdown and I must admit it was a little disappointing. The singles were excellent but most of the albums tracks were a bit bland, makes me think I should really have listened to all these albusm before starting this but nm. It's generally good of course. The album reached #8 in 1998.

203 Super Furry Animals ā Guerrilla
This was much better but I was a huge Super Furry Animals fan. They still have two albums to come much higher up. But yeh it checks all the SFA boxes its just not one of their classic records but very good fun just the same. It reached #10 in 1999.

202 Placebo - Placebo
Their debut album and definitely my favourite of their records but I disagree with the masses and think 'Nancy Boy' is one of their worst songs. This album is great overall though kind of a mix between Smashing Pumpkins goth overtones and hardcore but somehow these guys became pop stars, its actually amazing. The album reached #5 in the UK.

201 Feeder - Polythene
Two Feeder albums in thsi batch and i was sure this would be the better one of the two as it contains my favourite Feeder song but it doesnt really get going till near the end, then it gets superb. Feeder were great when they were proper heavy and they also sounded very like Smashing Pumpkins in those moments in tracks like 'Forgive' or 'Stereo World' but before that its all very meh. The album just reached #65 but we play out with the awesome grunge power ballad 'High'

So into the top 200 who will we kick this off with, well shock myself its Roxette.
200 Roxette - Joyride
I actually loved this albums so many hidden gems, if you think this is all about the singles, its not. My favourite album track is 'Small Talk' which really lives up to those Heart comparisons. Guilty pleasure maybe but they were masters of pop/rock. It reached #4 in the UK and #23 in the Us.

199 The Bluetones ā Return To The Last Chance Saloon
This was a strange era of music and I look back now and wonder why I liked so many of these bands so much at the time, I may have been wrong about a lot of them but not The Bluetones. Yes most of their songs sound the same but there was just something special about them, is it the vocals, the sound or their knack for a hook. l just don't know. Listening to a Bluetones album is hardly a thrilling experience but individually you just cant knock any of their songs!! This reached #10 in 2008.

198 Feeder - Yesterday Went Too Soon
More so than the previous record, Feeder are a band of two halves but this time the other half is Britrock in the vein of Stereophonics and Oasis. I shouldn't like this album more than 'Polythene', it's not emo or grunge or even that alternative but the songwriting has come on leaps and bounds and they do that epic dadrock thing so well they show up a lot of other bands that were around at the time. This album reached #8 in 1999. The song though I chose is my favourite Feeder sound when they go a bit punk rock. <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.600000000000023px; height: 6.899999999999977px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 133px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_78192982" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 133px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_99675698" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 420px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_52122553" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 420px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_64909480" scrolling="no"></iframe>

197 Sonic Youth - Dirty
Very timely this as the lead single has just appeared in Daz's retro charts. Sonic Youth were kind of the godfathers of grunge so only fair that they jump onto the bandwagon big time in their own way. This is a real mood album, as its not an easy listen and its maybe too long, the Kim Gordon tracks are generally not as good as Thurston's but saying that when it is good its incredible. Their biggest hit album here it reached #6 in 1992.

196 Deftones - Around The Fur
The standard of record is taking a bit of a jump in this 200 list and we have the incredible breakthrough album from Deftones. Introduced to me through MTV2, they were a bit heavier than my taste at the time but with nu-metal just about to break they really were in the right place for me. I own every own of their albums now and it was all thansk to 'Be Quiet And Drive' but there really isn't a bad song on this album and to think they were going to get even better. It reached #56 in the UK in 1997.

195 Whipping Boy - Heartworm
Now a band that may have past people by and only recently added to Spotify, Hurrah! This Irish band fom Dublin released thsi brilliant indie rock album in 1995. Three brillaint singles but sadly they never manged to get a top 40 hit or a charting album but they have not dated at all. If you like Rolling Blackout Coastal Fever now you will love this record which has a similiar 80s-early 90s College indie vibe.

194 Sugar - Beaster
Speaking of that 80s college sound here is a mini album from Sugar who were Bob Mould of Husker Du's new band. They still have two proper albums to come , one of which will be very high up. This EP is still really good though and only suffers as I have not listened to it as much as the full albums but it has no weak tracks at all, the first two are as good as anything they have done. They maybe just didnt fit the sound that 'Copper Blue' was going for. 'Beaster' was actually their highest charting record in the UK reaching #3 in 1993!! <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.600000000000023px; height: 6.899999999999977px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 149px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_86165756" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 149px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_22578192" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 436px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_73636285" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 436px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_86519221" scrolling="no"></iframe>

193 Primal Scream - Give Out But Don't Give Up
Oh a big big big record now. Seen as a disappointing after 'Screamdelica' to be fair most things are, that was maybe a bit harsh as although it does not break any new ground, as a 60s rock n roll pastiche album it is full of really good songs, many of which still get played today. Funny this album is as retro now now as The Stones were when this came out! It reached #2 in 1994.

My album listening has got out of hand as I have been working from home last 2 days. I have listened to 18 albums since the last update and they keep changing position. So lets continue.
192 R.E.M. ā Up
I would keep on buying REM albums out of loyalty but they were no longer the band I loved anymore. This album si just a bit too introspective and melancholy, I miss guitars! Thing is that moody sound was very much the sound of indie rock in 1998 so they were still very relevant. The album raeched #3 in the Us and #2 in the UK.

191 Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine
This album was a major record for me at the time, I don't actually own this it was my flat mates but I know it so well I had to include it. I did buy all the singles though. There is a time and a place for it but it isn't really a record I woudl put on anymore. It was hard finding a suitable venue for listening to this so I played it on my home commute which is a sort of battle so felt appropriate. A very important record it has sold over 16 million worldwide. It somehow only reached #45 in the US in 1992 but sold millions there. It reached just #17 here.
