227 Del Amitri - Change Everything
I was a huge Del Amitri fan but by the time this album came out , my tastes had moved on but listening to it now it is fantastic. Its not quite 'Waking Hours' level, the singles are great but the album tracks are a bit blander and less emotional than the previous record but there are still some fines songs I never really knew like this one 'As Soon As The Tide Comes In'. Their highest charting album, it reached #2 in the UK and #178 in the US.

226 Silencers - Dance To The Holy Man
One of my favourite 80s Scottish rock bands still making great music in the 90s. Again similar to Del Amitri I was moving away from bands like this but I did still buy this at the time. It also contains possibly one of the top 5 Silencers song ever which still gives me chills now. The album reached #39 in the UK in 1991. I would use the video but it just doesn't have the production quality to show how amazing this song was. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnI8kDi6_5w

225 Basement Jaxx – Remedy
If you were stranded on a desert island and you could only have one CD for a soundtrack to a beach party, you could not do any worse than this. It is solid banger after banger after banger but then most Basement Jaxx's albums were. Ok to be fair 'Kish Kash' was evee better but its not on this list.I cant count how many times i played 'Red Alert' when I was Djing. It reached #4 in the UK.

224 Teenage Fanclub - A Catholic Education
Scotland doing very well in this batch. We go back to one of the oldest albums on the list and The Fannies pore Creation debut album. It is very lo wfi and maybe doesn't quite have their signature sound yet but the energy and tunes are already shining through. 'Everything Flows' is still one of their greatest songs ever. Yes they are more proto-grunge and shoegaze at this stage but that's all good things.

223 Tiger - We Are Puppets
Now we get a band that is probably all but forgotten apart from maybe regular Steve Lamacq listeners. Their music is barely available anywhere and I had to dig out an old vinyl for this. Part of the punky angsty edge of Brit Pop along with bands like Placebo and JJ72, they churned out great single after great single in 1996 and even managed to get a top 40 hit. This album only got to #108 but it is still great now.

222 Skunk Anansie - Paranoid & Sunburnt
The other big hit Skunk Anansie album and I haven't got round to replaying this yet so we will stop here for now. Lets enjoy this song which turned me to the band before I return.
Must admit I was a little scared ofd this band and her when I first heard them. 'Selling Jesus' was quite ferocious and to hear a and see a black woman making rock like this was something just not heard of, maybe why they didn't really crossover to the US as they should have been huge there but thats the way of the world, the theme of this debut single maybe didnt help either hehe but without all that anger then came a brilliant grunge pop record 'Weak'. If this had been a Soundgarden or Pearl Jam song it would have been a top 10 hit there!! This album has aged very very well much better than most of the Brit Pop around at the same time. It reached #6 in the UK.

221 Blur - 13
We still have a lot of Blur to come of course and this narrowly misses the top 200. It is a very solid album with two very strong singles in the case of 'Tender' and 'Coffee & Tv' but it is still really a slightly inferior version of 'Blur', no big changes in sound that we have come to expect with each Blur record. This is still my 5th favourite Blur album though. It was their 4th number one album in 1999.

220 Teenage Fanclub – Songs From Northern Britain
More Teenage Fanclub and thsi one is really the sound that most people expect of a Teenage Fanclub album. Very similar to previous album 'Grand Prix' continuing that Neil Young, gentler american sound, That;s maybe why this misses the top 200 as it is very very similar sound although it is a very good one of course. It was their biggest hit album though reaching #3 and contains their biggest hit below.

219 Swervedriver - Mezcal Head
Swervedriver's 2nd album which blends Alice in Chains style grunge with shoegaze, they are so so underated it hurts. I am still such a sucker for music that sounds like this. In some ways this is actually a better album from their debut but I have not lived with it so long hence why it is lower on the list, it just has brilliant production and just better playing. The album reached #55 and contains this absolutely awesome song which just reminds me of 120 Minutes. <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.600000000000023px; height: 6.899999999999977px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 149px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_53086282" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 149px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_81740569" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 436px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_9792927" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 436px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_36257607" scrolling="no"></iframe>

218 Midnight Oil - Blue Sky Mining One for o now. And this must be the oldest album on the whole list. It feels more like an 80s record to me but was out February 1990. A very tall order following up the world conquering 'Diesel And Dust' but its a damn good album as well. In another dimension this was their 'Automatic For The People' to 'Diesel and Dusts' 'Out of Time' but sadly the world domination never happened and they quickly returned to being a cult concern outside Oz. They should have been the Australian REM, and I think they really were!! It reached #28 in the UK and #20 in the US, their highest charting album there.

217 Madder Rose - Panic On
Now the from the gentler side of grunge/alt rock bands like The Lemonheads were Madder Rose. Similar in many ways to The Cranberries they were slightly shoegaze, guitar pop but mostly just amazing vocals over shimmering indie pop. This was their only hit album reaching #52 in the Uk in 1994.

216 Lush - Lovelife The return of Lush in 1996 brought in a new sound. Gone is the shoegaze and now they are edgy Brit Pop band similar to Elastica and Sleeper. Its ok to move with the times when you do it so well. They also had 3 top 30 hits for the first time all of this record. Must admit I do prefer the old stuff. The album reached #8 in the Uk. Its hard choosing which single to feature but this is gorgeous and so is Miki of course. <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 117px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_73629674" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 117px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_44959156" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 404px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_80900442" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 404px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_42449639" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.600000000000023px; height: 6.899999999999977px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 117px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_94044384" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 117px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_42274274" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 404px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_72389342" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 404px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_620923" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.600000000000023px; height: 6.899999999999977px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 117px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_88292556" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 117px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_56800846" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 404px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_32432235" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 404px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_83335448" scrolling="no"></iframe>

215 Manic Street Preachers - Gold Against The Soul
Often forgotten from their 90s albums but it is actually really good although it gets a bit samey as you get to the end of the album but it does contain some really good singles and some great album trscks. I think it was discounted as nobody knew what they woudl become and its not quite up to the level of their debut. It reached #6 in the UK.

214 Dodgy - Homegrown
I always considered Dodgy a singles band and this album doesnt do much to change that but it is very summery and a pleasant listen from start to finish even if like the manics it kinda gets blander a steh album goes on. It reached #28 in 1994.

213 as it should have been as been relegated, the album was really really disappointing but its ok, I have still missed out enough of my faves, yes I suck at this, to replace it. So now 213 is
213 Muse - Showbiz
This was much better than I remembered, I wasn't really a big Muse fan when they started and i liked the singles but I though they were just a Radiohead copy band but this album has aged really well. I actually dont think their was a bad song on this. If i do this list again it will probably be higher i think. It reached #29 in 1999.

212 Beastie Boys – Hello Nasty
This is a very special record to me as my indie club was named after 'Intergalactic' and although that is by far the best song, this is a great listen especially for someone who doesn't listen to hip hop very often. It just oozes cool. It was a huge hit reaching number one in the Uk and US in 1998.

211 Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith And Devotion
I didnt need to revisit this album as I was very familiar after using them in Haven Factor. I must admit I wasnt a fan of 'I Feel You' and the time but I liked the later singles and the whole album grew on me overtime eventhough it is pretty bleak even more them. It was another UK and US number one.

210 Veruca Salt - American Thighs
Now an album that is not available on Spotify, I cant even find this album so I have just ordered it. Too good not to own. The commercail end of Riot Grrl for fans of Breeders but with even more tunes, I feel that thsi shoudl actually be higher than 'The Last Splash' but nevermind. It is a close calll between 'Cannonball' and 'Seether' for the best girl fronted indie rock song of the 90s. The album reached #47 in the UK in 1994. Playing it now on YouTube it is so good.

209 Cypress Hill - Black SundayNow a contender for the best hip hop album of the 90s. I probably played it more than any other and that includes 'Ill Communication' which is still too come of course, very soon in fact. It is such a great party record, why cant there be more tunes in Hip hop, it just doesn't happen these days. Ok his voice takes a bit of getting used to. I guess they were hip hop that it was ok for indie fans to like. But i have said many albusm here are banger after banger but this really is. Stick it on shuffle nad anmy tune just kicks of your party. It was a huge Us number one selling 3.5 million copies and reached #13 in the UK in 1993. This is my fave. <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.600000000000023px; height: 6.899999999999977px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 133px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_81029337" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 133px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_47763644" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 420px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_37839708" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 420px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_48922567" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.600000000000023px; height: 6.899999999999977px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 133px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_58042628" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 133px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_59295764" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 420px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_913763" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="10.600000000000023" height="6.899999999999977" style="position: absolute; width: 10.6px; height: 6.9px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 473px; top: 420px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_41519391" scrolling="no"></iframe>
