Eurythmics make it two weeks at number one with Thorn In My Side topping six individual charts this week.




They manage to hold off a strong challenge from Five Star as Rain Or Shine moves up to number two.

The re-shuffle at the top continues at number three with Run DMC edging up the chart a single place.

Dead Or Alive are this week’s highest new entry as Brand New Lover makes quite a modest debut at number 25.

There’s a huge climb of 23 places from Timex Social Club as Rumours lands at number 15.

It's 6 weeks on top for Human, their longest run at 1, as Big Supreme get a well-deserved top 10 placing in the absence of an actual chart placing in the real world, and The Police try a comeback which goes horribly acrimoniously leaving only the new version of their 1980 number one in at 8 - they really did mean it when they said don't stand so close to me. Dead Or Alive get a full-set of top 10's since You spin me Round.

Critics who claimed every Quo song sounded the same (they don't) had no response to their cover of In The Army Now, sounding nothing like Quo and fab, in at 18. Pet Shop Boys make it 4 top 20's in a row as Suburbia rockets up to 17, and Elton is still leaping into the 20 15 years on. The Pretenders have an Avengers-themed 60's moment with the great Don't Get Me Wrong in at 30, while lower end hits continue to enter for Loose Ends, Julian Cope and his best post-Teardrops Explode single, Howard Jones, Marti Webb, 15 years of Rod Stewart, Paul Young, The Housemartins, and New Order.

A whole 10 new entries this week, that's a third of the chart, as Paul Simon, who himself was once part of a famous duo, replaces another duo the Eurythmics at #1, where they had been for just 2 weeks.

The Cyndi Lauper / Madonna battle takes a further step as Madonna also has a true colour song, True Blue entering, but Cyndi has a good week on this chart leaping up to #3.

Someone probably posted this on a previous week but let's have this video. Julian Cope had some hits in 1981 as part of Teardrop Explodes but now gets a solo hit.

In addition, the Bangles have a new hit and Status Quo do something that sounds a bit different for a change.
