345. Courtney Barnett - Nameless, Faceless Great bunch of 5 songs here, this is the first of three Courtney Barnett songs in my top 400, the Australian singer, songwriter can do no wrong at the moment, i'm expecting to see this in Thorney's 250 www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZZSYDhx0FI
344. Metric - Now or Never Now Another act with three songs in my 400 is Metric, they had 3 great singles from their new album Art of Doubt, a great return to form www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC8MfulGMXE
343. Mayday Parade - Never Sure Another pop punk banger, it is a genre that hasn't suffered too much from the death of the charts for indie/rock bands as they never relied on the charts anyway so musically it is as strong as ever www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iqreoAWLOg
342. Micky James - Tie Me Up Micky James was a nice 2018 discovery for me, the young New Yorker looks and sounds like a young Gaz Coombes channelling a 70's style, I love it, he has just put out a song with one of my favorite bands of 2017/18 DREAMERS which is also brilliant www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnFrYgfFLHE
341. Ash - Confessions in the Pool The veteran Irish rockers have released some good singles over the last few year and 2018 album Islands was no different, Buzzkill just missed my 400 but Annabel will feature higher up www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbqyRb6o2cI

334. Attica Riots - Say Something A recent release I only charted November 28th, so it did well to grab me and make my list which I had finished a week later, these Canadians make uplifting catchy alt rock which instantly grabbed me www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRHskMloO74
333. Rivers Cuomo - Medicine for Melancholy Solo effort from Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, he cant do no wrong at the moment, his solo stuff is usually more stripped back or a bit more dancy, this one falls into the dancy category www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-dmoPTQ4X8
332. Halestorm - Black Vultures One of the heavier songs in my 400, classic Halestorm sound with Lzzy Hale growling the lyrics and my favourite track from their new album www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXtgc9tyavw
331. Pearl Jam - Can't Deny Me I expected an album to drop when this came out in March or a follow up single later in 2018, it did well in my chart, not vintage PJ but clsasic rock music is thin on the ground in 2018 and any Pearl Jam comeback is welcome www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fecw2m0PDDI

330. Eels - The Deconstruction Great comeback from popular 90's Indie band Eels, their first new music since 2014's The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett, when the album was announced, the title track "The Deconstruction" was made available for streaming www.youtube.com/watch?v=59Au8TUVakg329. Eagle-Eye Cherry - Streets of You Another 90's artist returning with what I thought was a great song, in any other decade it would've been a hit www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFEUC3d28hs

325. Vance Joy - We're Going Home James Gabriel Keogh, better known by his stage name Vance Joy, is an Australian singer and songwriter best known for his top 10 UK single Riptide, he is still big in his native Australia with the new album reaching #1 and We're Going Home #16 but interest in him here has dried up but I still check out all his singles and every now and again one of them catch my eye www.youtube.com/watch?v=qETfaJXx22g
324. Micky James ft DREAMERS - Rest Of The Best Micky James, one of my discoveries of 2018, DREAMERS one of my discoveries of 2016 and it sounds a lot like Circa Waves, it was a very late entry with it being released only 2 weeks ago but here it is www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPHofeOCe6s
323. The Eiffels - Body Like That Another band I have been following for a few years, pretty indie pop by numbers, its about time they get an album released, they have been releasing singles since 2015 www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sC-gUzicU0
322. Ezra Furman - Suck the Blood from My Wound Ezra Furman is an American musician and songwriter who currently performs solo and tours with his band The Visions. Guess you could class it as indie rock but with lyrics that are a bit more interesting, great video too www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtczMDM808Q
321. Milestones - Paranoid British Pop rock band from Manchester who say they are inspired by Panic! At the Disco, they released their debut album earlier this year, Bittersweet made my shortlist but only lead single "Paranoid" made my 400 but they are an act to watch out for www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5VhaW54uVo

320. We Are Scientists - Heart is a Weapon We Are Scientists rarely let you down, a little less guitar in this one than usual but a great addition to their fantastic catalogue of songs www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeVIGFF0Gmc
319. Passenger - Heart to Love Not many people know Passenger have released 9 albums! best known for his UK #2 hit Let Her Go in 2012, like Vance Joy every now and again he releases something I just cant help but liking www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mnDBXSKAbs
318. I Am Giant - Don't Look Back A band I discovered in 2013/14 at the Y-Not Music Festival, since then they have had sporadic hits in my chart most notably Dead Flower (2017) and Don't Look Back (2018) and Kiss From A Ghost (2015) which was a #1 in their native New Zealand www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wP9OCdg4BA
317. Carnival Club - Sin City They are a new Manchester based four piece that give old fashioned rock n roll a youthful indie spin, another one to watch after releasing two decent EP's www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjiFYm9xRb8
316. The Struts - In Love With A Camera Young glam rock band from Derby, another band I regularly chart, this was from their second album Young & Dangerous which is well worth a listen, it has a score of 81 on review aggregator Metacritic and for the pop fans they did a duet with Kesha www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp41GPXCQ8k

315. Artificial Pleasure - On a Saturday Night Formally called Night Engine, not sure why they changed their name, anyway this very Bowie-esq, the video has a Peter Gabriel feel to it, all very 80's, love it www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjg61ObFIq8
314. Hardcore Superstar - Bring the House Down Swedish sleaze/glam rock band that has been going since the 90's, this is a great catchy song, their new album was great actually and a second song will feature a bit later www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZev-PpGpTY
313. Public Service Broadcasting - White Star Liner For those who don't know PSB they take samples from old public information films, archive footage and propaganda material and turn them into songs adding guitar, banjo, drums, other stringed instruments, samplings and electronic musical instruments, this was part of the White Star Liner EP about the Titanic
312. The Coral - Eyes Like Pearls One of the few bands I saw live in 2018, the old stuff went down great and their new album was well received but I think their days of troubling the top of my chart are over, I have liked all of their recent singles without loving any www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyHZI_pUL9k
311. Marshmello ft Bastille - Happier Occasionally a song like does have huge commercial success, this was one of them, I never thought i'd like a Marshmello song but it is mostly Bastille www.youtube.com/watch?v=RE87rQkXdNw

310. courtship. - Islands L.A. synth pop duo Courtship. second song to make my top 400, they just blend guitar pop and synth pop together so well, currently #18 in my weekly chart www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyCUhTSSrlA
309. Morrissey - Jacky's Only Happy When She's Up on the Stage Say what you like about the guy he can still belt out a pop song, its one that straddles the line between 2017/18, it was Christmas number one 2017 in the vinyl chart but missed my 2017 chart www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZuB5TWrSv4
308. Saint Raymond - Carried Away Saint Raymond had a few decent hits in my chart earlier in their career, they have drifted away a bit but every now and again release a good song, this is one of their poppier ones www.youtube.com/watch?v=EspYoUDWCxE
307. The Unlikely Candidates - Bells American indie rock band from Texas, they don't half sound like Panic! at The Disco to me here which is never a bad thing www.youtube.com/watch?v=l016PurMM_8
306. The Candescents - Boyfriend Jangly, happy, poppy up tempo catchy guitar pop, you could say bubble-gum guitar pop, I shouldn't like but it is catchy as hell ha www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR3KvuiHMVY

305. Paramore - Caught In The Middle This one sounds like it was released ages ago even though the video only came out 5 month ago, the album dropped in May 2017 so that's probably why, it continues their new wave/synthpop sound www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFOY6KJlFEg
304. Johnny Kills - Who's Counting? An obscure one, only 106 youtube plays and 2 of them were me but it doesn't matter if you have 106 or 106 million to make it into my chart www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2fPPO--6M4
303. Hands Like Houses - Monster Australian alternative rock band, this is also apparently the WWE Super-Showdown official theme song www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0CSQNQT1S0
302. Sauropod - Moodless Oslo based Norwegian trio of energetic, pop punk-leaning lads who love catchy hooks and for those interested a Sauropod is a subgroup of the four legged "lizard-hipped," dinosaurs www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1NPQJVpH5k
301. Bad Nerves - Can't Be Mine London based garage band that make “short, punchy garage rock laced with energetic hooks”, sadly it was the only song they put on Spotify in 2018, hopefully more to follow in 2019 www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWJ2lhsjIwE

299. The Citie - Welcome to the Citie California band, can't find much info about them but earlier in 2018 they released a self titles EP called The Citie, this song sounded so familiar, maybe a bit Plain White T's www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iO6apPc_Qc
298. Franz Ferdinand - Glimpse Of Love Another decent FF song, maybe should be higher but I haven't really listened to it since earlier on in the year, from their 2018 album Always Ascending www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et9wZVyYra0
297. Only Sun - Happiness (All My Friends) Indie rock band from High Wycombe, they make fun bouncy indie pop, they have released a new song every month in 2018, I missed the first few but 9 feature here making them the most represented artist in my 400, if I'm not mistaken this was their November release www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCILyGtgzIc
296. The Unlikely Candidates - Best I Ever Had American indie rock band from Texas, its their 2nd song in my 400 after Bells came in at #307 www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9JrH-jq254

295. The Ting Tings - Blacklight I wasn't sure about this one, It was a grower for sure, I didn't chart it until 2 or 3 weeks after it was released, it was a lot darker and more dubsteppy than their older stuff, once I charted it Blacklight it kept rising and was a reasonable sized hit www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljs7eM4-4BA
294. Eliza and the Bear - First Aid Another act I chart quite often, they never really deviate from their sound so if you like Eliza and the Bear your chance to like this, apart from the slight annoying vocal effects it is another great addition to their back catalogue www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LGEPPkHc6k
293. The Savilles - Something Strange One I missed on release but charted a few month later because it was such a banger, a great Indie/electro rock band based out of Toronto, female vocals, killer synths, plenty of guitars, YES YES YES, www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz5l9KJSjnA
292. Hello Operator - I Created a Monster These 4 lads from York have a dark brooding sound, self described as desert rock, I Created A Monster came out back in June and slowly climbed my chart www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3gjqtKU96I
291. Miss World - Don't U Wanna Be Me Sometime? Miss World aka Natalie Chahal's latest music project is irony laced glossy nostalgia pop basically taking the mick out of the self obsessed selfie generation, her album Keeping Up With Miss World came out on September 28th, inspired by 90s grunge pop. Natalie says "I love Madonna and Frank Black and Rivers Cuomo. I like songwriters with a twisted sense of humour that write incredible pop music." www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgBZLsHUozc

289. Editors - Hallelujah (So Low) From their 2018 album Violence, it starts off a bit low fi but soon changes pace and as a more industrial metal sound but I love Rammstein and Nine Inch Nails so musically I find this one quite interesting www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-2xdJWnDv4
288. Manic Street Preachers - Liverpool Revisited Another good single from their new album, what you would expect from The Manic's www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex2Ip4aqpDo

280. Bloody Knees - Something Nice Love the mammoth, scuzzy hooks, reminiscent of ’90s garage rock, from October EP You Can Have It, the band, who are based in Cambridge had 3 decent hits in my chart in 2018 www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGxdtDmrehg

278. The Faim - Summer Is a Curse The Faim’s anthemic debut single ‘Saints Of The Sinners’ was released earlier in 2018, a co-write with Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, I missed that one but 2nd single Summer Is a Curse followed charted high for me www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oNcPG_uXWI
277. Vistas - Headspace Nice little indie rock band from Edinburgh www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLTW3GhVQfw
276. Imagine Dragons - Next To Me Hugely disappointing album overall, their descent into the depths of processed beats and plastic sounding songs in order to stay relevant is disappointing, even their music video for this song is 11 minutes long for no reason, they are just annoying on every level now BUT if I like a song I will chart it www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C_rvt0SwLE

270. Foxing - Nearer My God The American rock band released their 3rd album of the same name back in August, this was the second single and highlight of the album, beautiful synths, like M83 meets The 1975, Kerrang 8/10, Drowned in Sound 9/10, A.V Club 9/10, Pitchfork 8/10 all unanimously heaped praise on the new album, you can tell they teamed up with former Death Cab For Cutie member turned producer Chris Walla for Nearer My God, it has the same pop sensibility www.youtube.com/watch?v=umMI3u_-C78
269. Sloes - Drown Them Out A five-piece indie band based in London, Sloes first came about when band members Jerome and Jo travelled through Colombia and began writing songs together www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTGe8LTVA6w

266. Sauropod - Ripping More catchy hooks from Oslo based Norwegian pop punk band, their sound remind me a little of The Thermals www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKR2aQ06hdc

262. Paramore - Rose-Colored Boy One I'm sure most people interested in my chart already know well, I liked but didn't love their new sound, they did it well and this was the highlight of 2018 from them www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW5ueE2vUm0
261. Ekkoes - When You Wake London electronic act Ekkoes are taking cues from the likes of New Order, Human League and Years & Years; crafting bubbly pop music, one to check out if you like that kind of thing www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oSsTfC2uV0
Bonus song. I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME - Nobody Likes The Opening Band Amazing video, I missed this one as they were unsigned at the time and it isn't on Spotify but it is well worth a listen www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dx9nGBsl7I

260. Barns Courtney - "99" This was a nice surprise, I came across them in 2015 when I charted the excellent Glitter & Gold so they popped up on my Release Radar when this came out, it underperformed at the time for me but I noticed TheThorne charted it highly later on in the year so I expect to see it high up in his countdown www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmbCKz2N4II
259. Brett Dennen - Already Gone American folk/pop singer and songwriter from California, this is great stuff, I dunno how I missed his first 6 albums! this charted at #3 Adult Alternative Songs www.youtube.com/watch?v=77IjzPy47X0
258. Peace - Power Peace are an English indie rock quartet, formed in Worcester who have two top 75 singles in 2013/14 with "Wraith" and "Money", for me they have come back better than ever, from their 3rd album Kindness Is the New Rock and Roll www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Lmg-r_FyMM
257. The Struts - Fire - Part 1 The band's influences include Queen, The Darkness, the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, The Killers, The Smiths, Oasis, The Libertines, The Strokes, and My Chemical Romance. The Struts have been described as "unabashedly over the top retro-fetishist classic rock" and "glamorous and dangerous" www.youtube.com/watch?v=E57W1Iv3bfA
256. Feeder - Bruised I'm not sure what is a new single and what is an old B-side with Feeder these days as they put out 9 songs on Spotify in 2018, most of which were old B-sides, but I did really like Bruised, ok this was a B-Side for Feeling a Moment www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2ZtElYyHHo
