Time for another bunch...
70 - 61
70 Daily Habit - Feeder (#5, August) 69 Making Tracks - Gallus (#2, August) 68 Thrash Metal Cassette - Dinosaur Pile-Up (#8, April) 67 Kick the Butterfly - Reclaim Vienna (#6, October) 66 Never Give It Up - Jordan Allen (#5, September)
The first of four entries in this year's top 100 for Feeder. Dinosaur Pile-Up were year-end #15 in 2009 with 'Summer Hit Single', and make their return to the top 100 a decade later.
65 Don't Be Nice to Me - The Velvet Hands (#23, July) 64 Kids Addicted - Red Rum Club (#3, September) 63 Hurt My Heart - White Lies (#5, October) 62 Care Less - SHEAFS (#7, September) 61 Gary and the Princess - Nerf Herder (#5, April)
To me, Nerf Herder are mainly known as the artist behind the Buffy the Vampire Slayer theme tune. This is actually their first FragChart hit. White Lies burst onto the scene with 'Death' making year-end #15 in 2008, before three top 10 singles in 2009, all of which missed the year-end top 100.

Just to let you know I'm still listening to your chart, although balancing with my own weekly chart and playlists has meant my progress hasn't quite kept up with your posting. More ratings coming soon...

60 - 51
60 Bad Decisions - The Dunts (#7, May) 59 Magic Man - The Sherlocks (#12, July) 58 Iftt - MYOK (#14, June) 57 Something Worthwhile - Pretty Vicious (#14, July) 56 White Out - Snash (#10, February)
55 Hooked On You - Aboriginals (#2, June) 54 Take On Me - Weezer (#6, February) 53 Satellite - The Get Up Kids (#7, March) 52 Otherside - Spyres (#7, September) 51 I've Gotta Be Me - The Sherlocks (#2, April)
The Sherlocks have two songs which just miss out on the top 50, after having two such hits in 2017 and one in 2018: 2017: Live For The Moment (#11), Will You Be There? (#23) 2018: Chasing Shadows (#32) 2019: I've Gotta Be Me (#51), Magic Man (#59)
The top Sherlocks song of the year was a cover; Weezer provide another at #54. Their history: 2001: Island In The Sun (#92) 2002: Keep Fishin' (#10) 2005: We Are All On Drugs (#88) 2008: Pork And Beans (#1) 2009: (If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To (#100)
The Dunts were a pretty big success last year; not quite so much this year, but their songs still have a good record of reaching my top 20. 2018: Birds And The Beez (#24), Witch Hunt (#49), Coalition of Chaos (#67), G53 (#149), Dimitri (#171) 2019: Bad Decisions (#60), Marilyn (#166)

Into the top 50 we go! 50 - 4150 Die Waiting - MID CITY (#9, May) 49 Stop and Stare - gloo (#4, February) 48 Canine - The Reytons (#3, January) 47 45 (A Matter Of Time) - Sum 41 (#4, August) 46 DEUTSCHLAND - Rammstein (#3, April) The Reytons are in the top 50 with a track very reminiscent of Arctic Monkeys. They seem to like an early-year hit, as they're currently on their way up my weekly chart. Sum 41 are at #47 with 45 (in case you wanted inspiration with your lottery numbers!) - it's the top of a few political songs in this year's rundown; just above it is the top foreign-language song - not the first time this accolade goes to Rammstein - and also the top song whose title the artist have decided to capitalise. 45 22 - Potty Mouth (#2, February) 44 My Honest Face - Inhaler (#3, May) 43 Decadent Flowers - Super Marine (#4, December) 42 Youth - Retro Video Club (#3, November) 41 Who You Running From? - The Ruby Tuesdays (#6, June) Big things are expected of Inhaler, who are part of BBC's sound of 2020 and include Bono's son on vocals. Retro Video Club were #45 last year with 'Chemistry', and just about beat that mark this year (last year?).

40 - 31
40 Waiting for You - Authentic Pines (#11, September) 39 Undone - FEVA (#3, April) 38 More Than Ever - FEWS (#4, February) 37 Waste Away - Trashed (#3, March) 36 Youth - Parliamo (#7, June)
FEVA come very close to last year's mark of #35 ('Blind'). Parliamo have numerous FragChart top 40 hits, but 'Youth' is their only top 10 single to date.
35 Waiting On My Own - SONS (#2, April) 34 65 Nickels - Pkew Pkew Pkew (#1, January) 33 Adversary - On Video (#3, July) 32 Accidentally in Love - New Found Glory (#2, November) 31 So Fine - Little Triggers (#1, February)
A couple of single-week #1s appearing in this set: Pkew Pkew Pkew had their week in late January, and Little Triggers followed at the start of March - unfortunately, no follow-ups from either band. New Found Glory have been #1 with 'Accidentally In Love' for the first two weeks of 2020, but #2 was the best they managed during 2019. There's still one more cover song to come from them.

125-101: 5* 124 Bad Things (That Make You Feel Good) - Mini Mansions (#8, May) 108 Dress Up - The Regrettes (#9, May) 4* 122 All of My Love - Masked Intruder (#8, March) 116 The Ongoing Speculation Into the Death of Rock and Roll - The Glorious Sons (#8, September) 111 Sweet Talker - The Pink Slips (#11, April) 109 Motor Mouth - Something Something Explosion (#8, January) 'Dress Up' is one of the few songs I was familiar with before starting to listen to the countdown, and it still stands up very strongly.

30 - 21
30 Middle Name - Slush (#2, February) 29 Eye of the Tiger - New Found Glory (#3, April) 28 Stuck in a Head - Mean Jeans (#7, August) 27 Get a Life - Like Torches (#4, October) 26 I Met You on Halloween - Light Years (#2, November)
New Found Glory provide the two best cover songs of the year, with #3 hit 'Eye Of The Tiger' outshining 'Accidentally In Love', which as mentioned above, was the first #1 of 2020.
25 No Fun - Declan Welsh and The Decadent West (#1, June) 24 Gun in Your Pocket - Sick Love (#5, June) 23 I'll Be Happy When You Die - The Roly Mo (#1, November) 22 Criminal - Feeder (#1, November) 21 Out For Blood - Sum 41 (#5, May)
After their firsrt single peaked at #53 in May, Declan Welsh and The Decadent West stormed onto the FragChart scene with two weeks at #1 in July with 'No Fun', an ode to that guy, who tells tall tales at parties. Their following two singles didn't achieve the same success, peaking at #56 and #40.
Sick Love bring riotous grrl-punk to the year-end top 25, while The Roly Mo follow in The Dunts' footsteps on the Glasgow punk scene. Of course it's punk - look at the title!
It was a big year for Feeder, who had three #1s and were the best live act I saw in 2019 (ok, apart from their support, they were the only one!). They're one of four artists to have multiple songs in my top 20.
Sum 41 are still going strong, nearly 20 years after 'Fat Lip' propelled them onto the scene, maturing with their fans as pop-punk has given way to world-weary anthems with a touch of metal.
FragChart history: 2001: Fat Lip (#9), In Too Deep (#97) 2002: In Too Deep (#101), Motivation (#68), What We're All About (#35), Still Waiting (#62) 2003: Still Waiting (#72), The Hell Song (#68) 2019: Out For Blood (#21), 45 (A Matter Of Time) (#47)
(2001-03 were statistical, and they had two hits that straddled the end of a year)

Almost caught up, despite the competing demands of my chart and new releases playlist 100-51: 5* 61 Gary and the Princess - Nerf Herder (#5, April) 60 Bad Decisions - The Dunts (#7, May) 4* 97 Violet - Sea Girls (#2, September) 94 Moderation - Florence + The Machine (#2, February) 93 Just a Dream - FYVEYES (#16, September) 92 Swim For Your Life - The Pale White (#7, October) 87 Mutations - The Pink Spiders (#3, March) 85 Hurt So Bad - The Technicolors (#8, April) 83 Step - Strange Neighbors (#3, August) 78 In-To-It - DZ Deathrays (#3, June) 70 Daily Habit - Feeder (#5, August) 69 Making Tracks - Gallus (#2, August) 51 I've Gotta Be Me - The Sherlocks (#2, April)

20 - 16
20 Eddy - Rascalton (#2, May) 19 Liar - Potty Mouth (#6, April) 18 Dirty Air - Two Door Cinema Club (#1, June) 17 I Wanna - Potty Mouth (#1, August) 16 These Four Walls - Pretty Vicious (#1, February)
Glaswegian punk band (yep, another one!) Rascalton kick tbe top 20 off with a banger about not being called Eddy Potty Mouth were one of my favourite discoveries of the year; the all-girl punk three-piece, originally from Massachusetts, had three hits this year, all ending up in the year-end top 50. They're on tour in the UK in April.
Two Door Cinema Club need no introduction; they had a year-end #8 hit back in 2009 with 'I Can Talk', and while their first #1 doesn't quite match that, it's a welcome return.
Welsh rockers Pretty Vicious were #16 last year (well, 2018) with 'Move', and that's exactly where they are this time around. They've split up now, and will re-emerge as a new group without their frontman.

15 - 11
15 No Case - Masked Intruder (#3, January) 14 There Is No Point (Other Than the Point That There Is No Point) - bis (#1, July) 13 Good Samaritan - The Hives (#1, July) 12 Tommy Gun - Captives (#1, August) 11 No Surrender - MID CITY (#1, March)
Masked Intruder are a punk band from Wisconsin, whose current members are Intruder Blue, Intruder Green, Intruder Red, and Intruder Purple (a stand-in for Intruder Yellow, who they sad is currently in jail). In 'No Case', they claim that their accuser lacks evidence. The trial continues...
Wikipedia tells me that bis have been going since 1994, but I only discovered them in 2019! Their keyboard-based electropop is a departure from the guitar rock of the rest of my year-end top 20.
Another band with around 20 years under their belts are The Hives, except I actually knew of and was charting their music back in 2002! They had a couple of #1s then, and added to their tally 17 years later.
Australian band Captives (maybe they're after Masked Intruder?) shot to #1 with 'Tommy Gun', which is as fast and heavy as it sounds.
Fellow Aussies MID CITY join them just outside the top 10, but there's more to come from them inside - they're definitely my favourite discovery of the year, and I've found it very hard to split their songs while compiling this rundown.

10 - 8
10 Wolves - The White Lakes (#1, September, [14, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 4, 4, 11, 17, 26, 43, 46, 65]) 09 Guts - Mallory Knox (#2, June, [14, 4, 2, 2, 3, 4, 3, 4, 5, 15, 16, 29, 49]) 08 This Feeling - The Velvet Hands (#1, October, [32, 20, 4, 3, 3, 1, 1, 3, 6, 7, 10, 16, 31])
Into the top 10 we go! Four of the top 10 entered the chart at #14, and these were the only four songs to enter exactly there - I guess if you go big in your first week, you go huge.
The White Lakes have their chart debut in at #10, only one week at #1 but was stuck at #2 for four weeks behind a song that's still to come. 'Wolves' is straight-up indie rock with a memorable hook.
After a #3 hit in 2017 with 'California', Mallory Knox achieve a second year-end top 10 hit without managing a weekly #1 hit. 'Guts' has a heavier, rawer sound than their previous major hit.
Cornish rock band The Velvet Hands had a breakthrough year, getting album of the week on Radio 1. 'This Feeling' is loud from the start, which is unfortunate as I once accidentally played it through my laptop speakers at work...

50-26: 5* 34 65 Nickels - Pkew Pkew Pkew (#1, January) 30 Middle Name - Slush (#2, February) 28 Stuck in a Head - Mean Jeans (#7, August) 4* 43 Decadent Flowers - Super Marine (#4, December) 37 Waste Away - Trashed (#3, March) 35 Waiting On My Own - SONS (#2, April) 33 Adversary - On Video (#3, July) 32 Accidentally in Love - New Found Glory (#2, November) 29 Eye of the Tiger - New Found Glory (#3, April) 26 I Met You on Halloween - Light Years (#2, November) The ratings are a bit misleading because there wasn't all that much between 'Stuck In A Head' and '65 Nickels' and some of those that only got 4* such as 'Waste Away', whereas 'Middle Name' was the standout by some distance from this set of 25. However, the latter had a big advantage because you alerted me to it when it came out and it went on my listening rotation from then onwards . New Found Glory do good covers, but I still prefer the originals in both cases.

7 - 6
07 Fake Friends Forever - MID CITY (#1, August, [24, 1, 2, 4, 7, 7, 15, 22, 23, 42]) 06 Everything - The Dollyrots (#1, May, [14, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 4, 5, 14, 21, 36, 60, 70])
"Friends, forever, fake friends forever" is the catchy refrain in this MID CITY single - the song reminds me a tiny bit of Panic! At The Disco for some reason. 'Everything' by The Dollyrots is quite devotional - maybe a prequel to 'Gave You Everything', one of the top female-fronted hits from 2018. The chorus is excellent, and I'm also a fan of the key change at the end.

05 Old Habits - MID CITY (#2, April) [17, 3, 2, 4, 5, 6, 6, 10, 22, 27, 39, 55]
Looks like this one was a re-release, based on the video description, but it came into my chart as track 1 of an EP, and beats two MID CITY #1s to become their best-placed song, and the best-placed non-#1 - its relentless pace kept driving it up the list.

04 Fear of Flying - Feeder (#1, April) [6, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 4, 8, 14, 22, 33, 52]
Feeder announced their return to fine form with this, their first single from Tallulah, which fits right in with their older stuff.

From Feeder sounding like old-school Feeder, to Dead Nature sounding like old-school Arcade Fire, and winning the award for low-budget video of the year! This is the new project of Spring King's Tarek Musa.

I don't know how bis have evaded my consciousness for the past 20 years or so, but they announced themselves with this tune at the start of the year - rather reminiscent of the Futureheads.

01 Youth - Feeder (#1, May) [14, 1, 1, 1, 1, 3, 7, 10, 15, 20, 21, 31, 41, 51, 73]
The return (to greatness) of Feeder was possibly the best thing that happened in 2019. It certainly felt like it when they got on stage at the Roundhouse and kicked off with this song - such a euphoric moment. 'Buck Rogers' was probably _the_ song that got me properly into indie/rock music, just about nineteen years ago, so I've always felt a connection to them.
