My last chart is 1 September 2018 and songs in the chart then will obviously have had their run cut short.
The top 500 is purely based on points, and some periods were stronger than others. In particular 2011 was the weakest year of the decade in my opinion, or it may just have been the way I compiled my playlist such that I missed a lot of the best songs. 2011 had the lowest placed "chart of the year" song and 2018 the second lowest, but obviously it wasn't a full year.
500 The Rebel In Me - Western Sizzlers 499 Life Goes On - Villas 498 F.B.I - Blue Babies 497 School Days - Cryssis 496 You Could Keep Me Talking - Leisure Society 495 You're A Germ - Wolf Alice 494 Rhythm Of The Sun - Mariachis 493 Broken Smile - Heather McKenzie 492 At The Indie Disco - Divine Comedy 491 Fly Now - Maureen 490 Hold Me Close - Bec Quinn 489 Turn The Music Loud - Sapphire 488 Delicate Cycle - Uncluded 487 Mr. Apples - Madness 486 Riverman - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds 485 Look At Us Now - Frank And Walters 484 This Is Our Time - Delilahs 483 Footprints - Action Item 482 Modern Day Frankenstein - Lucy Spraggan 481 Katy Don't Worry - Nevertones 480 Friday Night Don't Ever Let It End - Spector 479 Bad Citizen - Hey Geronimo 478 Ballad Of The Mighty I - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds 477 Man On The Moon - Sam Roman 476 Only One You Care About - BellaMaine 475 I Don't Wanna Go - Ballyhoo! 474 Carol O Carol - New Vorder 473 Ruby Sol - Mobbs 472 Monday Morning - Gerry T 471 Baby Asteroid - Leon Of Athens 470 Last Goodbye - Exit 22 469 This Freakin Song - Janoskians 468 I Don't See Them - Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott 467 Melody - Penrose 466 Lonesome Street - Blur 465 I Need Time - State Lights 464 Friends And Enemies - Freedom Fry 463 Fighting In Brighton - Cryssis 462 Candy Cane Lane - Sia 461 The Ballad of Mad Dog Coll - Rory & The Island 460 Jobs Where They Don't Know Our Names - Raymond & Maria 459 Glowing In The Dark - Girl And The Dreamcatcher 458 Hammersmith Palais (Live) - Michael Monroe 457 Under Cover Of Darkness - Strokes 456 Hey Doctor - Fairshake 455 Going Down (Na Na Na) - Allan McConnell 454 Julee - David Cope 453 The Dan Kelly Song - Hey Geronimo 452 Saint Tropez - Miss Molly & Me 451 Will I Learn - Pukes 450 Virus - Sonic Boom Six 449 Seven Seas - Gion Stump & The Lighthouse Project 448 Escape! - Kai Fish 447 Fool's Complaint - Suzanne Vega 446 Big Fish - Gift 445 Favourite Ex - Kenneths 444 Play What You Want - Toy Horses 443 I Want My Country Back - She Makes War 442 Girls Night Out - Gorgeous George 441 Live Outside - Enter Shikari 440 Don't Let Go - Keyz 439 Marry Me - Kai Fish 438 Weird Year - Eversons 437 Lifeline - Soldier 436 Good Days Bad Days - We Singing Colors 435 Lighthouse - Lucy Spraggan 434 Rain In England - Akira The Don 433 Doll - Greenways 432 Black Eye Friday - Heavyball 431 Surfacing - Chapel Club 430 I Believe (Get Over Yourself) - Nico Vega 429 Dots - Woodes 428 The Girl Who Likes Me - Hey Geronimo 427 Tallulah - Stephen Hudson 426 My Boyfriend - Samantha Clayton 425 Generally...She's Fine - Stereo Electric Mistress 424 You Ain't Right - Jimi And The Strangers 423 Like Paper Planes - State Of Play 422 How I Got Over - Reef 421 Duquesne Whistle - Bob Dylan 420 Ain't Made To Measure - Soho Hobo Feat. Phil Daniels 419 Coz It's Christmas Time - Mariachis 418 The Christmas Song - Boy Who Kicked Pigs ft Darren Bray 417 Put It Politely - Nineninetynines 416 Singularity - After Avalanche 415 Blows & Unkind Words - Rumjacks 414 Once - Rookie 413 Get Up - Loveshack 412 No Tears To Cry - Paul Weller 411 Stupid Cupid - Mischief 410 Save The World Tomorrow - Fools Garden 409 Lion's Mouth - Young Rebel Set 408 Hit Me Up - Slapback Johnny 407 Dreams - Brandi Carlile 406 Return To Form - Ciaran Lavery 405 Love To Love You - Sophie 404 Postcard - Cedar Island Band 403 Dumb Me Down - Dahlmanns 402 Just Like Them - Alpaca Sports 401 Perfect Symphony - Ed Sheeran & Andrea Bocelli
The #500 song in this chart peaked at #5 in November 2014. So most of these are approximately #5 hits though some got higher including some #3s and "Turn The Music Loud" by Sapphire only reached #8 after a yo-yo run that so it initially peak outside the top 20 but then go back up more than once. At the time seemed like a very talented 14-year-old English singer but subsequently all her output has been cover versions of big hits.
Ed Sheeran makes 2 appearances in the top 500, one at #401.

This is a spotify playlist of all my top 3 hits of the decade other than the festive songs, but does contain 2 football related songs. Not all the songs on it are on Spotify, including one of my favourite songs of the decade which is on Spotify only in an awful remix. I'm listening to it shuffled, and they are not ordered the same as the chart of the year. Most of the "not on Spotify" ones are at the end of the playlist. Note: only 100 songs are listed above but the playlist has over 400 songs (may be under 400 for available songs).
Skinny Lister make the most appearances - 7 in total and that is without their 2 Christmas songs which reached #1 in 2015 and #2 in 2017 in my chart.

I'm glad someone's doing a 2010s rundown - I had planned to make one but was too busy throughout the year to catch up on the years I missed (I stopped charting in early 2011 and apart from three months in 2014, didn't start again until mid-2017, so I've missed a lot). My last chart is 1 September 2018 and songs in the chart then will obviously have had their run cut short. Are you planning to revive your chart at all? Only a couple I remember so far, but not too surprising as our most musical times don't intersect much, and I don't even remember all the songs I charted in 2019.

I'm not planning to revive my chart, I did actually create long-lists for a while after but the effort to filter all of them down into playlists was so huge.
Retro lists are easy - I just grab whatever entered the charts those weeks. The record company executives did a reasonable job back then of filtering out the wannabes albeit they there was terrible music that sold back then, e.g. Donny Osmond, and on the whole the radio stations in choosing their playlist and the public in what to buy did much of the rest.

"You're So Good For Me" was a #1 but the lowest placed #1 of the decade (not counting anything on the final chart). It's only 5 places higher than "Spitfire" which peaked at #3 and was a better song. It's what happens when you put a band you like at #1 without consideration, and had a run 8-1-1-6 then a quick fall out. And it was in 2011. "Tiger Tail" was #2 on its first week at #1. Charlie Khan though has disappeared from everywhere. Skinny Lister "Thing Like That" possibly should have been a #1? And so should the Yearning song "Everybody Knows I'm Still In Love With You" which came 2nd in a Hidden Indie Treasures, and was better than the one they actually got to #1 in my chart with.

I'll resume this soon.
In the list above "Happy Like A Chicken..." was #1 in the penultimate chart week so didn't get its complete run.
The Season's Upon Us had a very short run as it entered at #1 and stayed a second week before the holiday was over and it fell abruptly even though I credited "The Boys Are Back". There was nothing to save "Christmas With Bing" but it started its run a week earlier which helped. "Poobrador" had no excuses. The shortest song on the list, one of the shortest songs ever to reach my chart at 1 minute 6 seconds long, and it spent a single week at #1.
A number of songs from 2018 up there, a year when I never published my chart of the year.

Mostly number 2s but the occasional number 1 in there, and both football hits are in this section, both having reached #2 when the country they represented reached the semi-final of their major cup competition.
"Might As Well Dance" was still #3 in the final chart so would have definitely appeared higher. It's possibly better than his number one which is still to come.
The song at #171 was the only very old recording that did well in my chart, an album track in 2000 but resurrected when Margaret Thatcher actually did die in 2013. The song at #185 is among the handful of cover versions that appear on this list (but not the oldest song, which is Piccadilly Trot by quite a long way).

160 Ong Ong - Blur 159 Afterlife - Daggerplay 158 I Don't Wanna See You With Her - Maria Mena 157 Shame - Robbie Williams And Gary Barlow 156 City Of Dreams - Tensheds 155 When The World Ends - Nikki Lang 154 Obsession - Tich 153 Crush Hour - D'artagnan 152 We're Glad That You Came - Neo Retros 151 Butterflies - Sensible Sam & Japan 150 Golem - Reverieme 149 The Unfair Maiden - Ed Hanfrey 148 December - Melodime 147 Sugar You - Oh Honey 146 Can I Have Your Toy - This Gizmo 145 Mystery Of My Brother - Glenn Andrew Smith 144 Suffering You Suffering Me - Slow Club 143 Echoes Of Summer - Vals 142 Birds - Middle Milk ft TOS & Mumblin' Johnsson 141 Make Me Smile - Pearl & The Puppets 140 Suburban Sex Dungeon - Dexters 139 No One Owns The Sky - Orion 138 The Game Is On - Hans On The Bass 137 Don't Stop - 5 Seconds Of Summer 136 Skies - Cattle & Cane 135 Bags Of Water - Josh Woodward 134 The French Word For Love - Blood Oranges 133 Light It Up - Whitman 132 Push Me To The Floor - Parlotones 131 John Ferrara & Betty Karpoff - Van Houtens 130 Pleasure City - Baby Strange 129 Emmylou - First Aid Kit 128 Would You Say Stop - Acid House Kings 127 Princess - Josh Woodward 126 Meltdown - Grande Bois 125 D.I.Y - Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott 124 Eyes So Cold - Shy Nature 123 Paying My Way - Dropkick Murphys 122 Amanda Lights - How To Loot Brazil 121 The Alien - Manchester Orchestra
At this point we have a mix of number ones and number twos. There are 3 artists in this list who had one #1 and one #2 in the 2010s and their #2 has finished higher. Dropkick Murphys, although their #1 was a Christmas song so it had a short run, Baby Strange whose #2 is in the above list and their #1 appeared already. Oh Honey are in this list with their #1 but their #2 hasn't yet come.

The two marked * did not reach #1. Cats In Space was several weeks at #2 behind :PM in 2017.
The song at #61 was still in the final chart in which it fell from #4 to #11. So he would probably have finished higher. He had 3 number ones in 1984 with The Thompson Twins. For Billy Idol, "Can't Break Me Down" was his only NM #1, that in 2014.
Prams and Singer & The Scientist were both one hit wonders in my chart as were Marty Graveyard, Prefab Messiahs, and whilst King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard released a lot more songs, that was the only one that got a video so was the only one to reach my chart.

Seeing a few artists here where I don't recognise the song, but later got into them - e.g. Bis had two huge hits in my chart this year, so I'm sure I'll like 'Minimum Wage'. Was the MSP song at #165 a Euro 2016 song?
'Na Na Na' by MCR was a huge hit in my chart, maybe the longest-running #1 of the decade for me.

Yes, "Together Stronger" was a Euro 2016 song and its chart run was helped by their good performance in the competition. Had they beaten Portugal to reach the final it probably would have got to #1 but it ended up with a peak of #2.
The Tallywags also had a good run in 2018 with an England-related song, with a memorable video of them re-acting various events where things went wrong then re-acting them differently to go our way.
Minimum Wage was a #2 in my chart in 2014.
I may countdown the rest in 10s and post videos. And as Tom Bailey should have been in the top 60 had the chart run finished maybe I'll post that one too. Like the Thompson Twins in their peak, this is..

60: Forty Pound Wedding - Skinny Lister
Not their first hit in my chart but the start of the run of number ones. A standout song, very much sounding like a standard celtic theme (actually the melody is almost the same as Seven Drunken Nights). This came out just before the festive songs knocked it off the top in 2012, with Happy Hanukkah actually replacing this one top then the Christmas songs flying into the top 2 and in the new year Tich hit the top but this hung around enough to be #60 of the decade.
59: Shake Your Skeleton - Cricklewood Cats
If you look this up on youtube you'll find two versions on Ian Ritchie's page, the other being a live version, and the only reason I don't appear in that video is that I filmed it. That is how familiar I was with this duo. I last saw Holly Penfield only a couple of months ago, and it is through Tricity Vogue's ukulele cabaret where we both regularly attend. However it reached #1 in my chart because it's a great song and not just because I know them personally. Reached #1 in 2014
58: Walk On Water - Eminem ft Beyonce
Would have been the major surprise number one perhaps if Eminem hadn't already had a #1 in my chart 17 years earlier but he hasn't been regular on my chart and neither has Beyonce. At the same time Ed Sheeran also had duets with both of these artists. It didn't reach my chart until the video came out so right at the end of 2017 and its climb to the top was slow getting there eventually at the start of February 2018.
57: That Girl - Noisettes
Not sure why I have this video link, was the original one deleted? This was a #1 in the summer of 2012. It was number one for just 2 weeks and I'm quite surprised it is this high, but managed what "Never Forget You" didn't and got all the way to #1.
56: To My Roots - Emma Stevens
She had had a number of hit singles but only "Gold Rush" reaching #3 had been a significant hit before this became a much bigger hit for her in 2017 topping the chart for 4 weeks.
55 She Drowned - Damn Jammage
The video is dated November 2011 but it wasn't a hit until the spring of 2012, and it spent 4 weeks at #1. My friend Lottie Bowater was a member of this band playing accordian. Although this was their biggest hit chart-wise I think Hormone Soup is a better song.
54 Catch Me Girl - Mellor
Also a number one in 2012, this one in the summer. They have gone through line-up changes and removed music from Spotify including this song, and the only video is this live one.
53 Art Of Dying Young - Skellums
A number one in 2016, this is an incredible indie-pop anthem. I seem to recall it didn't do that well on non-hit single of the month though. Have no idea why. The band are still around recording. Their song "Fame" reached #3 in my chart in 2018 and was on the last chart.
52 Misfit - High Dive Heart
I always compared this duo to Oh Honey but in 2016 they really formed a life of their own. The male member is Jason Reeves who was well known in the pop industry and the female is his wife.
51 Six Whiskies - Skinny Lister
In the lyrics contains the words "Down On Deptford Broadway" which was the name of their 2015 album, and was their 5th consecutive #1 in my chart, and their 4th within a year, and like the one above it was also knocked off the top by a festive song but this time their own, completing what was a remarkable year and a remarkable run of singles.

50 She Makes Me Want To Die - Faerground Accidents
Sandwiched between two Skinny Lister number ones in "the nice part of 2015" was this song that has the Suede wall-of-sound-Britpop feel to it.
49 Guilty - Paloma Faith
In 2017 Paloma Faith returned to #1 with the second single from The Architect. (The first was big in the UK but failed in my chart). She reached #1 in 2010 with Upside Down but this one was even bigger.
48 Movin' Along - Moment 44
Made late chart history in my chart by releasing 2 singles in a short period that were #1 and #2 in my chart on the same week. This was the number one.
47 Dear You - Lucy Spraggan
This was her second number one in my chart and there is one higher placed. She may have once been in the X Factor but she is a wonderful musician and I have even seen her live. This reached #1 in 2016.
46 International Blue - Manic Street Preachers
They are still going strong but I haven't yet seen them live. Their 4th number one in my chart, first since 2007 and among the acts to have topped my chart in 3 different decades. This reached #1 for them in 2018.
45 Scarborough - Farrah
Not the highest placed song from 2011 but I generally consider this the best song of the year. Farrah are led by songwriter Jez Ashurst, who has also written hit singles for other artists, and has even co-written with Rachel Furner.
44 Injured Party - Singing Adams
The lead singer of the Broken Family Band had this solo #1 in 2011, taking a long time to reach the top so ended up quite high.
43 The Recruiting Sergeant - Levellers
Surprisingly had two big number ones in the 2010s, even though they never reached #1 in the 2000s, and they have one higher placed. There are two artists who still have 2 songs to come. This was done for Warchild, and reached #1 in 2013 and most notably prevented "Dumb" by Tich from reaching #1.
42 Beautiful Words - Oscar
His full name is Oscar Scheller. He had had some hits before. This was a song lagging in the 3 weeks and was officially #1 on "that" week in 2015 but I didn't even know it yet. Still it was on the playlist immediately after the 3 weeks when I hoped she would come back.
41 Have It All - Jason Mraz
Jason Mraz made his NM chart debut in 2003 but the year he became huge was 2018, with this single getting to #1, and then "Might As Well Dance" getting to #2 right near the end of the chart era and perhaps that should have been a number one too. Still, this was just overly catchy, and whilst it took its time, there was only one place this was destined to peak.

Just 8 songs now.
40 Nightmare Day - Moons
I can't find a proper video for this, although Jennifer Sits Alone (just outside the top 500) definitely had one. They had a few smaller hits too, but this was their debut hit spending 4 weeks at #1 in 2010.
39 Inside Out [Latin Mix] - Imelda May vs Blue Jay Gonzalez
Number one for 5 weeks early on in 2011. It doesn't say it on the video but this is the version that was #1 in my chart, i.e. the latin mix. Not sure if it was a mix or a re-recording. Wasn't that happy about her cover of "What A Beautiful Day" but she did have a few others hits in my chart. I do love a bit of swing.
38 Cathy - Skinny Lister
Together with a jellied eel eating contest video. What character this band has. Number one in the nice part of 2015 for 4 weeks.
37 Could Have Been Me - Struts
There are 2 videos for this song, this is the original one, and the song comes in sooner. Glam wasn't dead in 2013 it just didn't get into the UK chart anymore. In my chart this spend 4 weeks at #1, right near the end of the year, before Tich flew in at the top with her Christmas song to knock this one off the top.
36 This Is War - Skinny Lister
This is their highest placed hit, and was 5 weeks at #1 in 2015 and was #1 when I saw them live. This shows what they actually are like when they do perform live - that big barrel with the drink. Gig was enormous fun.
35 Sunny Side Of The Street - Sonic Boom Six
Not typical Sonic Boom Six, this is more like Jason Mraz with a bit of rapping added, but was the song that launched them in my chart. 4 weeks at #1 in 2011 and the highest placed single from that year, although they have another one higher up which wasn't even #1 in its own year. Quite a lot higher up actually.. Having got them going, I think it was well justified that Jason Mraz himself finally got big in my chart.
34 Loner - Denim Snakes
How to write a simple song with just 3 chords when you can't even sing that well, and still get a massive hit in my chart. After one more hit called "Summer" which also had just 3 chords, they split and took their music off Spotify but at least this is still on youtube. Number one for 4 weeks in 2016
33 Quicksand - Tom Chaplin
Keane first reached my chart in 2003 with "This Is The Last Time" but it was their first time, and they got to #1 with it for 5 weeks and after I charted it again in 2004 it became the #2 single of that decade.
So the lead singer only #33 in the 2010s but this was #1 for 3 weeks in 2016. And at one point he starts singing the intro to "Ordinary Day" by Duran Duran...
