A reminder that these are the categories:
The Categories:
Disco - Anything from the 70's that would fit into the Disco genre. Don't mind early 80's too!
The 80's - Anything from electro, house, Italo disco, as long as it was released between 80-89.
The 90's - From Eurodance, rave, speed garage - whatever floats your boat - as long as it's a dance song from the 90's
The Instrumental - All beats, no words.
The Remix - Can be literally any song, as long as it's a Dance remix. Now yours chance to use that Basshunter remix of Napalm Death that you have been saving up.
David Guetta vs Calvin Harris vs Tiesto - The three heavyweights of Dance. Any tracks recorded or remixed by any of these three DJ's. Or even a David Guetta vs Tiesto song remixed by Calvin Harris if one exists!
The Alternative and The Unknown - The uncharted side of Dance in the slightly more alternative genres. When I mean uncharted, I literally mean no hits please!
Rent A Rapper - A song from a Dance rap act, or a dance song with a featured rap element.
The 2000's - Plenty to choose from in this category - tropical house, grime, dubstep - anything from 2000 to right this very minute.
Club Anthems - Can be from any decade, dance genre, but lets make it the biggest Dance Anthem to round the contest off with.
As a predicta starter, I want you to predict one song that is not your own for each round. A bit harder than it was the 2000s time machine as you have to guess the artist and song and which round you think it will be in, and one for each round.
If you miss the deadline for the first round you can still enter for the remaining rounds, but I want all the entries up front.
You cannot predict your own entry, but if you got your second choice you get the compensation of being able to enter your first choice to predicta.
Aside from that, there are predictions from each round based on finishing position and who entered what.
Predictions by PM of course. I am not participating in predicta nor in the main contest but am likely to vote in the contest as a non-participant.

The first part of the first round is before the songlist is published. Guess any song (with artist) that will appear in this round (other than your own choice). If you didn't get your first choice you will have a PM from Smurfie and can guess that one for a free 3 points - compensation for not getting your first pick. No guess = no points. But you can still take part in any part of predicta to come. A reminder that the participants in this contest are: o DJ nordy greendemon Jordan krescendo @lastridgeracer madmurray ManicKangaroo Milliways raliverpool Razzle Dazzle Roo. Shireblogger smokeyb Smurfie TheThorne Whitneyfan of which one of you has already sent in a prediction for this round. Non-participants are also welcome. ( Smurfie cannot take part in this part of predicta but can for fun predict finishing positions before any votes are in).

You can take part in any part of predicta when you have time but obviously you won't get any points if you don't enter / miss a part.

I'm in. Can't guarantee I'll have time to predict in every round but we will see how it goes.

I should give 2 bonus points if anyone actually predicts correctly one in the "unknown" round... For the current round though: Which song will win You get 3 choices, but you must order them. If your first choice comes in you'll get 3 points, if your second choice you get 2 and if your 3rd choice you get 1 point. Which song will come last Same as above, 3 choices ranked in order. Which song will come 9th One choice, 3 points if you're right, 1 point if it's 8th or 10th, 2 points if it's tied on points with the song that's 9th but isn't 9th. Random songthis round is "Amii Stewart - Knock On Wood". Who picked it (2 points) and where will it finish (2 points, 1 point if one position out). Random entrant:this round is greendemon . What is her song (2 points) Note: greendemon will not be picked again for this feature, unless her song randomly comes up. And whoever entered "Knock On Wood" will not be considered for the "entrant" until all of them have been used up. So I will try to spread this but the song is random as I have no idea who entered what. Random extra question In what year was the winning song released (2 points). Note: I've decided that for "who picked it" and "what did they pick" rounds, the person who picked the song will get 1 point as long as they enter the round for the other predictions.

Wow. This is quite a bit more involved than I thought.
I'm assuming I am allowed to (correctly) guess my own song?

Unnecessarily long winded & complicated in my opinion. But I may be in the minority, and I'll still be taking part in some of the elements of the predicta.

submitted my guesses as I haven't a clue with any of them, but someone has to finish last so it may as well be me.

There's quite a few to contend with there, maybe scale it back in future rounds as it kind of puts me off, but if everyone else is happy...

Random extra question In what year was the winning song released (2 points). I'm astonished you haven't written pages of explanation about this question. Many of the entries have multiple correct answers. Is it:- The year the song was first issued by any artist on an album ? The year the song was first issued by the artist featured in this round, on an album ? The year the song was first issued by the artist as a single, anywhere in the world ? The year the song was first issued by the artist as a single in the UK ? The year the song was a hit for the first time in the UK ? Any year in which the song was released as a single in the UK ? To make it fair, I think you have to allow all of the above possibilities as correct answers.

I will allow for year of release either it's first appearance on an album track or as a single. I should have been clearer. Should be its UK release though not USA, and in particular whether the Saturday Night Fever songs were 1977 (album release USA), or 1978 (only the single How Deep Is Your Love which isn't in this contest was released in 1977 in the UK, everything else was 1978 as far as I'm aware).
Not by any artist, only the one that is singing it in this contest. I don't care when Eddie Floyd's "Knock On Wood" was release should Amii Stewart's version win.

Wow. This is quite a bit more involved than I thought. I'm assuming I am allowed to (correctly) guess my own song? I don't want the person who gets picked to miss out by not being able to predict. So perhaps I should either automatically give them the points or give them 1 point when they come up. A different person will be picked each round but the random song could be anybody's.

It’s kind of a pointless round as it stands to reason that we will pick the song we think comes first and then google the year, not our fault if the internet is so US centric, Doesn’t matter if it is US release as you could still buy it on import here so still available but anyway change mine to 78 even though that’s wrong

These things get complicated. I have these years and so let's say we play by them. If you want to change your guess based on this list then do. Not necessarily will you guess that the most likely winning song is the most likely winning year .e.g if you think Car Wash is the most likely winner it's the only song on the list from 1976 so you're more likely to pick a winner going for 1978 74 Barry White - You Are The First, My Last, My Everything - youtu.be/Fcd3XuQwDQQ 79 Sister Sledge - We Are Family - youtu.be/uyGY2NfYpeE 78 Chic - Le Freak - youtu.be/aXgSHL7efKg 76 Rose Royce - Car Wash - youtu.be/eB0aROCl530 78 Peter Brown- Dance With Me - youtu.be/pwz7cerVuKE 78 Sarah Brightman – I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper - www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxfB0b9Ix9o77 Baccara - Yes Sir I Can Boogie - youtu.be/VSQjx79dR8s 79 Amii Stewart - Knock On Wood - youtu.be/XKuJUxGntRI 77 Trammps - Disco Inferno - youtu.be/A_sY2rjxq6M 78 Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive - youtu.be/fNFzfwLM72c 75 MFSB - K-Jee - youtu.be/M_R6u1Cd1Us 79 Michael Jackson - Don't Stop Til You Get Enough - youtu.be/yURRmWtbTbo 79 Earth, Wind & Fire - Boogie Wonderland - youtu.be/god7hAPv8f0 78 Yvonne Elliman - If I Can't Have You - youtu.be/CZVUzho-nok 74 KC & Sunshine Band - Queen Of Clubs - youtu.be/p4_sdJGB0fk 79 Edwin Starr - Contact - youtu.be/wPdokMzR9_0

If you could put the years up to guess each round that would be most helpful, or I might just randomly pick a year in the decade each time. I was wondering if we could also predict what the host is eating/drinking as they reveal the results...
