OK, so because there are no festivals going on this summer I thought it would be fun to have a go at creating some of our own. You can use whatever artists you like (dead or alive), but for my first one I made a playlist of what I thought a Haven factor winners (1-7) one day festival would look like - if all of the artists were available, and alive! The playlist is roughly 4 hours long, and I thought in between they would be playing tunes by various other Haven Factor entrants.
I've also tried not to make it just greatest hits sets, although obviously you need some big tunes to keep people on their feet!
Kim Wilde (opening act) Water on glass- 2,6,5,8,0- Cambodia- Boys- Birthday- You keep me hangin' on- You came- Kids in America
Melody Club Palace station- Baby (stand up)- Destiny calling- Fever fever- Electric
Beautiful South Good as gold (stupid as mud)- Everybody's talkin' - Dream a little dream - Manchester- Woman in the wall- A little time- Prettiest eyes- You keep it all in- Rotterdam (or anywhere)
The Cure The Lovecats- Just like heaven- Lullaby- Why can't I be you- Lovesong- A forest- Friday I'm in love- Boys don't cry- Inbetween days
The Supremes Reflections- Come see about me- Stoned love- Nathan Jones- The happening- Love child- I hear a symphony- Stop! in the name of love- Where did our love go- You can't hurry love- Baby love
Blondie Long time- Denis- Heart of glass- Picture this- X offender- Maria- Call me- Dreaming- Hanging on the telephone- One way or another- Atomic
The Beatles (Headliners)
Come together- Blackbird- I saw her standing there- I want to hold your hand- With a little help from my friends- Please please me- Here comes the sun- I am the walrus- Love me do- She loves you- The long and winding road- Strawberry fields forever- Hello goodbye- Let it be- Yesterday-
ENCORE - Help!- Hey Jude SECOND ENCORE - All you need is love

I would definitely attend that festival Razzle DazzleThe 1975 didn't play 'The City' or 'Girls' when I saw them earlier this year though they did do 'Chocolate', 'Sex' and 'Robbers' which was a nice surprise. I also particularly enjoy the 'Settle Down' to 'She's American' segue!

I know, I was particularly sad about 'The City' I think the main purpose of the set was to showcase their newer material although they didn't play that much off the new one as I guess there was only so much they wanted to share. They opened with 'People' and I think we also had 'Frail State Of Mind', 'The Birthday Party', 'Guys', 'If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)' and the one with Greta, along with all the biggies from albums #2 and #3 but not enough from #1! Oh wait, just remembered they played 'Menswear' as well... of all the songs from the debut!

Now this is an interesting thread ....
The funny thing is during lockdown I've set to work on my Alternative Live Aid using realistic alternative acts (i.e no The Smiths because of their lead singers objection to Foreign Aid (with hindsight, etc) with one or two plausible Band reunions on a par with the real thing).
But not using acts who appeared at the real Live Aid to see if I could come up with a superior alternative all day transatlantic event.
Maybe that is something for the Retro Lounge .....
