Andrei Rublev.
Astounding, intense, and moving film. And sufficiently threatening to the Soviet Union's ideology that it didn't get a proper release until long after it was made, and after the Soviet Union's collapse.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa
It was alright...but I have to agree with one review of it that suggested it was effectively a 30-minute TV episode stretched out into a 90-minute film

Ivan Vasiliyevich Changes Profession. Quite brilliant bit of 1970s Russian sci-fi/comedy...

I want to see "Amour". Where did you see it? The Odeon in Panton Street, London, hidden away off Leicester Square. I think the only other cinema in London showing it was the Prince Charles...but as that was already a week ago I fear you may have missed you chance. I live a couple of hours outside of London, and there were no nearer options....

Hors Satan, by one of my favourite (if sometimes verging on the incomprehensible) directors, Bruno Dumont. Maybe it will make a little more sense on a second viewing sometime...

My bottom 20 would look like this. Well done to the same artists (or "artists") for taking both the no 1 and 2 spots. I can only conclude that a wave of intensely bad taste and depravity swept over the UK (but mostly nowhere else) the spring/summer that they were on top of the charts. They certainly make the dubious charms of Westlife (whose 1990s singles were much better than a lot of what came later...) seem more appealing
