Welcome to Frank Edwin's 9/19/2021 Salad Bar Top 100 weekly inclusive feast where we invite you to Chow Down on a fresh variety of tasty musical artist cuisine. Romaine Calm - Turnip the Beet - Find Inner Peas.
Our next chart will post on October 3rd as we take a break from the internet and social media to celebrate Sukkot/Feast of Tabernacles. The Top 100 has just a small sampling of the artists worldwide that have music we enjoy sharing. We literally can't keep up with the number of new songs released weekly and new to us artists we are discovering on a daily basis from a plethora of sources. There are currently over 200 songs waiting to join the buffet. To facilitate the opportunity of having more songs join the chart we are now giving five songs each week the special designation of #1 Saladđ„Song.
We get excited finding new sources for artists and music to bring to the Top 100. Four months ago we discovered PLANET QUEER; an experimental LGBT performance event on the 3rd Mongay of the month at AKBAR in Silverlake, Los Angeles that is dedicated to fostering a new queer renaissance in the city by providing a consistent venue for the development of new queer visions and performance works.
www.facebook.com/planetqakbarIt was on Planet Queer that we encountered "Somebody" the Groovy collaboration between Damien Peter Skurray aka TraXnCtrl from Australia & Lacy Darryl Phillips aka The Uncle Earl From New York! Lacy shares the inspiration behind the song:
"I am a Native New Yorker from Brooklyn now living in Queens. I grew up in a melting pot, so I was taught to get along with everyone. Little did I know that everyone was not taught the same way. Racial tension is a part of the American Fabric. Navigating this terrain can be treacherous. At a young age, I learned that I have to be super focused on my dreams, career and speak up for myself, even when it wasn't the popular thing to do. I said all that to say, these lyrics began to flow from a Lifetime of trials and tribulations. Given the current climate of race relations on a global scale, the song is definitely one for the masses. We need positivity, hope and good vibes through the message and the music. This song will fill you up with inspiration, aspirations and some GROOVY MAGIC!"
Lettuce groove as "Somebody" reaches the pinnacle of the Top 100 feast in its 14th week on the chart giving TraXnCtrl and Uncle Earl their first #1 Saladđ„Song.

For 12 weeks now we have been enjoying BjĂžrn - a childrenâs musical story written, illustrated, and composed by Romanian-Norwegian artist Vasile Baghiuc about a boy who loves colours, his best friends Dog & Cat; who also loves to draw, read, play the piano and sing; who one day finds a tuba! Will he learn to play the tuba? The story comes in 6 parts which are closed captioned in English and linked on the Top 100 playlist.
Vasile took music lessons as a child in Romania, worked as a trombone and brass teacher, conductor and composer in the far north of Norway, and now ventures into his own career as an artist. It is a pleasure to present him with our Saladđ„Bowl in honour of âBjĂžrnâ being given the designation of a #1 Saladđ„Song.

UK acoustic/blues/rock & soul singer/songwriter, AVAMO came to us âIn A Dreamâ 11 weeks ago. AVAMO grew up in the Canary Islands and was immersed in the music scene from a young age. Her official singing career began upon forming a cover band and until the Covid outbreak they performed regularly at Jazz After Dark, an intimate venue in Soho, London, where Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty also used to perform. When lockdown was announced, she tried her hand at learning the guitar and since then has written and composed many songs. As the songs began to flow all that was missing was a 'stage name' so after several hours of layering vocals, she came up with AVAMO, an acronym for All Voices Are My Own.
âThese last few months have taught me a lot about myself and how deep below the surface perceptions can hide and how rewarding it can be to express yourself through music.â
We are delighted to give AVAMO her first Saladđ„Bowl in honour of âIn A Dreamâ becoming a #1 Saladđ„Song.
#1 Saladđ„Song: AVAMO - In A Dream
Our favourite real life couple and musical duo De Jongens (The Boys) from Belgium returns to the pinnacle of the Salad Barđ„Top 100 for the third time with âDan ben ik bij jou (Then I'll be with you)â in its 13th week on the chart.
#1 Saladđ„Song: De Jongens - Dan ben ik bij jou
Acoustic fingerstyle guitarist and composer Yasmin Williams tells us about her song and video "Urban Driftwood" featuring drummer Amadou Kouyate:
"I am SO EXCITED to share the video for the title track of my album Urban Driftwood!!! This is my first actual music video and I'm so proud to share it with yall. The video, featuring Amadou Kouyate, who also played the drums on the track, and directed by the amazing Drew Hagelin, explores themes of reflection, the natural world, and urban migration, through vivid scenes shot throughout greater Washington, D.C and Baltimore area. The sonic landscape of the repetitive, meditative sounds of guitar, kora, kalimba, and hand drums align with the saturated, sweeping visuals to communicate the feeling of movement and exploration of the natural beauty that persists within urban spaces.
As I wrote the song, I remember reflecting on my personal role in the context of the current societal moment, considering my position as Black female guitarist within a white male dominated field. There are not many Black guitarists within this genre and particularly with all of the political and social discord that was happening in the United States in 2020 and now, I felt it was extremely important to include a song on the album that was inspired by my heritage and paid homage to who I am, the household I grew up in, and the music I listened to as a kid. âUrban Driftwoodâ is more like the music I grew up listening to than any other song Iâve released so far."
This week we place a cherry tomato on top of âUrban Driftwoodâ and give it the special designation as a #1 Saladđ„Song in its 10th week on the chart.
