35 Absolution - Muse
My favourite Muse album and their third record. This has been helped a bit by Muse having new music out so it climbed the top 50. This was their first album to chart in the US where it reached #107 but it was a charttopper here in the UK. This is my 6th favourite album of 2003.

34 Riot! - Paramore
As I said earlier I was a bit late to Paramore think they had already had a top 40 hit before I became a fan but I made up for lost time as you can see from this placing. This was their second album and their worldwide brealthrough. They have new music coming maybe as soon as next week, can't wait!! This was their second album and it reached #15 in the US and #24 in the UK. It is now my 5th favourite album of 2007.

33 Rated R - Queens of the Stone Age
A band with two albums in the top 40 and they are both brilliant but 'Songs For The Deaf' has more of a special connection, I bought this album fairly recently after only buying one of the singles at the time, think you can guess which one. This was their second album and like Paramore it was the one that crossed over especially on MTV2. It didn't cven chart in the US though reaching #54 in the UK, that is mad!! It is now my 4th favourite album of 2000 and so close to being 3rd as you will see.

32 Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia - The Dandy Warhols
Now we have their third album which is a much better record overall than 'Come Down'. The singles are all brilliant but the whole album is pretty faultless. It reached #32 in the UK and #182 in the US. Its my 3rd favourite album of 2000.

31 Proudly Present... A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation - The Wombats
A very good finish for this in the end. The Wombats were really starting to fall out of favour with me but their last album and new stuff is a real return to form, getting close to the standard of their debut here. I think they are very underrated as most of their songs have such a sense of humour and clever songwriting. This album reached #11 in the UK. It is my 4th favourite album of 2007.

30 Deja Entendu - Brand New
Probably the heaviest record in my remaining list. Its emo hardcore but with a bit of an experimental twist but unlike some later Brand New albums there is plenty of hooks. This was their 2nd album and first hit reaching #63 in the US and #105 in the UK. It has sold over half a million copies in the US. The album spawned two Uk top 40 singles. Its is my 5th favourite album of 2003.

29 Neon Bible - Arcade Fire
They have two albums in the top 30 and none of these positions are influenced by recent events and they probably wouldnt be anyway, im just a bit disappointed in him more than anything. This was their second album and probably includes my fvaourite Arcade Fire song. This album is near perfect really its barely a drop off from 'Funeral' which is a 10/10 record. This album though reached #2 in the Uk and US and is my 3rd favourite album of 2007. Oh to be fair this top 30 is pretty much all 10/10 records.

28 Only Revolutions - Biffy Clyro
We come to the first number one album of the year record and it is for 2009 which is the weakest year of the 00s. This is low I guess for an album in that placing but this album isnt quite a 10/10, it falls away with the last 3 tracks which are still great but it doesnt keep your full attention to the end like 'Puzzle' does. This album reached #3 in the UK and has sold over 700000 copies here, it was their fifth album.

27 Sam's Town - The Killers
And straight away we have another year end chart topper, this is my favourite album of 2006. And similiar to above we still arent quite in 10/10 territory but pretty damn close. This was a really brillaint followup to their debut album with a more Bruce Springsteen influenced feel rather than the 90s John Hughes soundtrack sound of 'Hot Fuss'. It was a huge success reaching #1 in the UK and #2 in the US. The album has sold over 5 million worldwide.

26 A Certain Trigger - Maximo Park
My top 3 for 2005 were really obvious and the order they would fall, all 3 albums I totally hammered. This one will settle for 2nd place. One of the best debut albums of the 00s as were 1 & 3 to be fair. The band from Newcastle captured the mid 00s indie sound better than most and the album reached #15 in the UK.

25 Oracular Spectacular - MGMT
Wow these records are getting amazing now. How rare a band comes from nowhere and just blows you away and even more so its not a fluke, they have 2 more killer singles and an album to back it all up. One of the most unique albums of 2007 but at the same time it only could have been huge then. This was their debut album and after this they will shy away from the pop limelight and just make music for themselves. They are still great but when you can rwrite tunes like 'Time To Pretend' and 'kids' it would be brilliant if they made another indie pop album but they are probably sick of their record company asking so they never will!! The album reached #6 in the UK and #38 in the US. It is my 2nd favourite album of 2007.

24 Let Go - Avril Lavigne
2002 has become one of the strongest years of the 00s with 6 albums making the top 25. First up we have Avril who has definitely had a boost thanks to her very successful comeback in 2021. Rare for a top 30 album but its another I never bought at the time, I do have all Avrils singles though from this record, I bought the album a couple of years ago again Poundland!! It is insane to think this record is 20 years old! This was her debut album and again its nearly a 10/10 just a couple of weaker tracks let it down. It was a UK #1 and US #2 and has sold 16 million worldwide.

23 Logic Will Break Your Heart - The Stills
The last maybe forgotten artist on the list and the least successful record in the top 50. Another band in the mould of The Strokes meets Interpol so again very much the sound of the time but this album is brilliant and they really should have been much bigger. This was their debut album and it failed to chart but they did have 3 hits in the Uk including one top 40 hit. It is my 4th favourite album of 2003.

22 American Idiot - Green Day
No surprises that this is the highest placed Green Day album, it is their scond best overall and in some ways as a whole album its argubably their best work. It is was a massive worldwide hit reaching #1 in the US and UK. Trying to choose videos but they are all so triggerring as was playing this album a few weeks ago. It is my 3rd favourite album of 2004. 'Boulevard's video' really hits hard as being sadly as topical as ever!

21 Ladyhawke - Ladyhawke
Thank goodness for Ladyhawke and it is maybe the highest pop album on the list, electro pop anyway. I hate to count how many times I have played this album, my wife had it in the car for ages so I know it maybe more than just about any record to come!! It is just a totally feelgood album and she never quited matched it again. This was the debut album from the New Zealand singer. It reached #16 in the UK and I still imagine a world that she had the success of Ga Ga instaed, that alternative universe is where I want to be. It is my 3rd favourite album of 2008.

Now into the top 20 and these are all 5/5 records as were the last two to be fair.
20 Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
Most of this twenty wont be much of a surprise just a matter of where they land and it was so close. Franz Ferdinand came in with a decent indie record 'Darts Of Pleasure' and then followed it up with one of the best songs of the decade. I will never get bored of 'Take Me Out' especially with the video. There was plenty more where that came from, their debut remains their best album by some way. It reached #3 in the UK and #32 in the US. It is my 2nd favourite album of 2004. What could be above it?

19 Bleed American - Jimmy Eat World
One of two albums in the top 20 which I never bought at the time. I now own all of the top 40 physically but only bought this album when I finished this list. I really liked these Jimmy singles when they were out but I didnt rank them among my favourite bands that came later with their next album. Now of course this is my favourite album and their best. This was their fourth album which went to #31 in the US and #62 in the UK. It is my 4th favourite album of 2001.

My top 2 albums of 2000 could be in a different order on a different day, they are both so different but both capture where I was musically that year outwith dance music which was huge for me then as well. But this is the way they fimally fall....

18 Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park
A rare thing now but it still happens when you hear a debut single from a band and you instantly love them, that was me with Linkin Park. It went against where I was at the time as I was DJing in a Indie club and student night and nu-metal didnt really fit. I remember when I played Limp Bizkit at Intergalactic, I knew I had gone too far hehe So yes this was their debut album and it reached #2 in the US and #4 in the UK. In this moment my 2nd favourite album of 2000.
