Scunthorpe were in the playoffs in League One in both 2017 and 2018 then relegated in 2019 and relegated from League Two in 2022.

The national league is full of huge former football league teams these days, even a fee got relegated from it! I disagree now that County and Wrexham have got out of it to be replaced by Hartlepool and Rochdale. Oldham were in the Prem league briefly but are a league 1/2 team at best, then you have Chesterfield who are similar, but lower unless brown envelopes are involved. Then it's Barnet, Southend, Halifax, Aldershot and York, and promoted back into the Conference are Kidderminster, with Fylde, Ebbsfleet and Oxford City coming up, I'd say the Conference looks the weakest it's been for a while, but that gives clubs that have never been in the Football League a real chance next season. And we lost Maidstone, Torquay, Scunthorpe and Yeovil this season. Oh I'm not saying it is a strong group of teams or that the traditional football league teams left in there now are any good these days, I'm saying how shocking it is how far so many of them have fallen and become nobodies! Scunthorpe were in the Championship in 2010 Yeovil were in the Championship in 2013 Torquay only spent 2 years outside of the football league between 1958 and 2013 All 3 relegated this season from The National League, not even good enough for the NL, like you say Oldham, ex PL and were a stable league 1 team until 2018 Southend were in the Championship in 2007, Chesterfield were in the Playoffs to get to the Championship as late as 2015, Hartlepool made the play off final to go in the Championship in 2005 but lost to Sheff Wed, Rochdale a solid league 1 team until 2021 Bury went bust of course, Darlington, Chester, Macclesfield, Halifax etc too Seems like a lot of their declines (the teams that never went bust) can be traced back to not enough money too I went to a lot of fourth tier games from 1998-2002, so its just shocking how so many have vanished either completely or gone down 2 or 3 levels never to be seen again

Whether Notts County do well or not next season might hinge on whether they can keep hold of Langstaff. There may be some Championship clubs sniffing around him and County may sell for the right price. He may even have gone in January if they hadn't been in the mix for the title.

Ups & Downs, 2023
League Two
It's a North-West battle, as Carlisle face Stockport County on Sunday afternoon, vying to join three Southern clubs in getting promoted to League One. Carlisle finished 20th last season but significantly improved. Looking for a return to League One after nine seasons, this is their fourth time in the play-offs (including winning Conference play-offs in 2005).
Stockport County are hunting a second successive promotion, and a third in five years. They were last in League One in 2009/10 season, before three relegations in four years. The last time they were promoted from League Two (2007/08), it was via the play-offs.
Champions: Leyton Orient - won the League Two title four years after winning the National League. 91 points is a modest total by this season's standards, but Orient's best tally ever. They also managed their highest average attendance since the 70s.
Promoted: Stevenage - returning to League One at the ninth attempt (having been relegated with Carlisle in 2014), another side to make an impressive improvement after bottom-four finishes in two of the previous three seasons. 85 points is their highest football league tally.
Promoted: Northampton Town - one of the yo-yo clubs of recent years; they swap between League Two and League One for the fifth time in eight seasons. They've been oscillating between the two divisions since 1967.
Relegated
24th: Rochdale - once part of the fourth tier for an impressive 36 seasons, Rochdale drop out of the football league after 95 seasons since they joined the new Third Division North in 1921. Their second relegation in three years.
23rd: Hartlepool - go back down to the National League after two years in League Two. It took them four years to come back last time.

The West Ham Fans throwing missiles and cutting the head of a Fiorentina player are an absolute disgrace.

Always get some morons ruining things but....
I'd question why they were serving unlimited beer at final, not only that but clealry in hard glasses in a football stadium, not only that but having no security to stop people taking them onto the terraces, not just that but the game after West Ham fans were wound up already after their family and kids were attacked by Dutch ultras last game because there was no meaningful security!
I never knew you could serve beer at football anymore, for me it is clearly a huge sequence of security failures that allowed it in dodgy European football grounds, why a final was held in a 20k capacity stadium with limited ability to host a final safely I will never know

They serve beer at the Valley but you can't take it in with you. MK Dons also served beer when I went to their stadium.
You can't blame the fact that a venue sells beer as an excuse for loutish behaviour. Pubs serve beer but fights that happen at pubs after drinking too many is only the fault of those who can't control themselves when they drink.

Maybe in Europe they have beer at football, because their fans are a bit better behaved, or can at least handle alcohol? I've seen it in the Bundesliga. And I know it's only a minority, but they want banning. The amount of England flags there was very odd as well, was it an England game? Were the Fiorentina fans end full of Italian flags? Anyway, great result, but a shame they'll start the Europa league with a fan ban in place.

Actually it is illegal to be that drunk in a pub, so the establishment is liable so bad example, they are meant to refuse you service then escort you off the premises before the situation escalates, you have to have rules because people are stupid.
You can't tell me being allowed to take items that can be used as weapons into what should be a restricted area is fine on their part regardless of loutish behaviour, there's a reason this doesn't happen in other top games, its not allowed to happen! there are strict rules in place that make it impossible, in this case it was very much allowed to happen so they shouldn't get off with a free pass

Not sure the Dutch fans wearing balaclavas attacking the family area full of women and children the game before was a great example of better behaved, of course ban the idiots who broke the rules, but the point is it was always going to happen, Fiorentina fans were doing it too but with coins and smaller objects, you could see them rain down when there was a corner but they just missed the target, a bit like their team

And the West Ham fans that had attacked the Dutch family area the game before? It isn't always going to happen as shown in the Bundesliga, although they are plastic cups. Some fans at some English clubs are an absolute disgrace, but because it's the Champions League (Europa Conference/League), Premier League Glossy Image, it all gets covered up with just a bye-line. Dont want to damage the image, everything is about image these days. West Ham fans fought the opposition fans when they opened their new stadium didn't they, seems like they love a fight, maybe they could duck off out of football grounds, and leave the football to be watched in peace by those that want to enjoy it trouble free? Let's hope the Champs league final passes off without any trouble.

No when the stadium was opened the football tourists (Chelsea, Spurs, Millwall fans), got tickets in the West Ham section and fought with West Ham fans, the away end was fine, it was all in home section
If anything that is another great example of a venue failing to take the correct safety measures
But yeah for a third time idiots will be idiots and England in general regardless of club have more than most

I think it's been around since the 80s, and generally you can get a beer but only drink it in the concourse and not in sight of the pitch. £6 a pint at Arsenal though unless you get in early! There used to be a ban for UEFA matches but they lifted it a few years ago. And of course you can drink at Rugby and Cricket matches, as it's only football that has the loutish reputation.

You see it plenty at UK music festivals too, I remember seeing The Bravery and they had to walk off after being showered in stale beer and p*ss, the Kaiser Chiefs got it too. But at least it was in soft, disposable party cups, the ones in Prague were hard, solid, kitchenware lol, probably serve the steak pies with steak knives!

Well done the Hammers, what a brilliant finish to the match. Delighted for Moyes after all the unfair crap he has taken since leaving Everton.
Veering off topic ... to reply to the above post you reminded me of this, so I had to post it:
Back on topic... not that it is likely to happen but for the good of Football I hope Internazionale beat Abu Dhabi FFP cheats in the European Champions League final tomorrow evening.
