8th January 1955 : Ruby Murray - Heartbeat (2 weeks at # 1)
Rate : 3 stars
UK chartrun : 15-11-10-7-5-7-3-7-5-5-4-4
I'm not sure if you heard any Ruby Murray's songs or not, but she had five hits in UK Top 20 on a single week in March 1955.
Special mentions : Rosemary Clooney - Mambo Italiano - 1 star (Awful song, it's the earliest UK # 1, which I dislike.) "Rock Around The Clock" debuted in January and left chart after two weeks, but will rise in the end of this year.

28th May 1955 : Jimmy Young - Unchained Melody (4 weeks at # 1)
Rate : 4 stars
UK chartrun : 14-13-13-7-7-3-3-1-1-1-2-2-5-5-9-9-12-14-20
Jimmy Young got his second number one single. "Unchained Melody" brought UK # 1 for four different acts. In my imaginary countdown only one other cover version had a good chance for the first place.
We had unique chart with three "Unchained Melody", three "Stranger In Paradise" (+ another version at # 14) and two "Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White" in UK top 10 on this week .
