40. Electric Callboy - Arrow of Love ๐ฉ๐ช
The German metalcore band released their sixth album "Tekkno" in 2022 which is an interesting mix of metalcore, EDM, pop, electro and, pop punk and alternative rock so hard to pin down their sound other than saying this is aggressive good vibes

35. The 1975 - I'm In Love With You ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ
My favourite song from "Being Funny in a Foreign Language", more good stuff from The 1975, peaked at #2 in my chart so they failed to get a #1 with me from this album but that was more due to the strength of the songs it was up against

Or as they were known back then Eskimo Callboy had a #2 hit with this one back in February, they changed their name because they didnt want to cause any offence to Eskimos, this one was submitted into the selection panel for Eurovision but sadly didn't get selected, it is metalcore meets Eric Prydz

29. Blossoms - Ribbon Around The Bomb ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟIt wouldn't be a top 40 without at least one song by Blossoms, I sometimes add songs to my playlist without paying attention to what it is called then days later it comes on shuffle in the background and I swear for a fortnight i though this was "rippin' around the bong" Peak Position: #1

24. Muse - Wonโt Stand Down ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ
Muse won me back with this album, they were going a bit silly with the synthpop but "Won't Stand Down" is a lot harder. With their new genre-hopping album described by Muse as "a greatest hits album โ of new songs". The song was described as Muse's "heaviest material yet", featuring a metalcore breakdown

This was a late 2021 release but spent 3 weeks at #1 in January 2022 so I had to include it here. Their song "Come Over (Again)" went viral on TikTok in late 2021. Ever since then, the band has been very successful, touring around the world and creating a growing fanbase.

22. My Chemical Romance - The Foundations of Decay ๐บ๐ธ
2022 saw a huge comeback with My Chemical Romance returning, it's a bit of a slow burner and very old school MCR before they were a poppy band so it won't be for everyone. I know Gerard Way was working at Cartoon Network in New York City and experienced the aftermath of 9/11 first-hand, inspiring him to create something that could change the world for the better, the day after he formed MCR and he touches on it here. But he laments the way the world has decayed and the fact he too had given up trying to change the world because it comforts him much more to lay in the foundations of decay, a six minute lament about life chiselling away at our mental health, leaving scars that make you want to lie down and stay in your comfort zone until the outro when Gerard screams to himself โGET UP, COWARD!โ, love it
